it sometimes disgusts me how many US Americans see being an Arab as an indicator that the candidate is unfit to be president. It continues to shock and disgust me.

It is good to see that John McCain still has the shred of decency he had before his capitulation to the right in this 2008 campaign for the presidency.Obama has my vote,but the John McCain who regularly ran afoul of the Republican right,despite his moderately conservative record still exists.The man who was the best Republican candidate in 2000,the one whose instincts were towards the independents and middle in that campaign,still is there.He always has said he's a man who has made many mistakes...but he did the right thing here,even telling his supporters there is no reason to fear a President Obama.

He still did a lot of it to himself,to get the nomination this time.But you're right,MP.He may have thought it wasn't worth the cost anymore.There must be something about what he has become he cannot deny sears at his conscience.

I remember when Obama first began running. The republicans were tripping over his name deliberately, saying crap like Osama Obama, Obama Bin Laden, and seriously immature comments like that.

Even today, they're purposely saying his middle name "Hussein" at rallies and such, on FOX News, etc.

Republicans do fear-mongering like no other.

McCain used to be genuine like that all the time. Now we rarely get anything other than "FOX NEWS ALERT: Barack Hussein Osama gets fucked in the ass by terrorists."
 
Just saw this on CNN. "I've done some reading on that there Obama fellow. I don't trust him. He's an Arab."

Then, when McCain defends Obama, the crowd boos him, before others applaud his efforts.

But the other incident, in which McCain said "Obama is a decent person who you don't have to be scared of", the crowd completely shit on him. These people are unbelievable. I love how the Cons call the Left Radical, but the Far Right is clearly Radical.

Y'all got to give credit to McCain for doing the right thing (for once) responding to this situation. I was shocked. I didn't know he was capable.
