Re: how do you feel about michael jackson...

I feel part of music is missing, I really do.
I don't know much about him, never really listened to his music, nor did I really enjoy it, just not my style. Just knowing I grew up with him (not literally of course) and how he touched and inspired so many, and influenced pop culture, I really feel theres something and of course someone missing in music.
I was deeply saddened and surprised how quickly his death came. It was a surprise for everybody. What hurts the most was knowing his children never saw him perform on stage again; the entire tour was mainly dedicated to his children.

I just wish Michael was in a more positive light before passing away, a better image, you know? that whole child molesting crap.. never bought it ](*,)

Re: [merged] Michael Jackson Dies at 50

Good lord in heaven.

I've sat here and thought about all the troubles in the world today.

And I realize that I'm just totally indifferent to celebrities dying.

Re: [merged] Michael Jackson Dies at 50

^ uh, just at the end of 5 pages of grief ladies renting their garments and wailing like a Greek chorus did I finally pay attention because it seemed like an awful lot of fuss for one more plasticized American pop star.

I read some of the comments from others and realized that I was so indifferent.

And I thought, with all the hysteria about dead celebs, it just seemed timely to express my emotional state too.

I'm doing it, because I want all the others who are afraid to voice their 'Who the Fuck Cares', to realize that it is okay not to give a rat's ass that Ed, Farah and now Mikey have left the building.

Re: how do you feel about michael jackson...

i was never a fan of Michael Jackson, but i admire his career. i like 2-3 songs of him. it's such a pity he's gone...

Re: [merged] Michael Jackson Dies at 50

Big Deal, he was a lousy performer and a Child Molester.

Bury him and be rid of it. That is all that is on TV

Re: RIP michael jackson!

RIP Michael ! Your music will forever be a legacy to your great talent. I remember Michael Jackson being such a giving and wonderful person. One of the first cassette ( yes I said cassette) tapes I ever owned was Michael Jackson Thriller... ! And yes, I loved Farrah, she was a wonderful lady who was a true fighter.!! I do wish both famillies peace at this time.

Re: [merged] Michael Jackson Dies at 50

I was as sorry to hear of MJ's death today as 99% of the posters on this Thread were. I used to dance to his music, I bought some of his albums, I've admired his skills as a musician and have also watched in shock and sadness at the way his life unfolded in recent years.

Michael was a guy who seemed to have been in the bubble since he was 4 and coming from a family with an apparently abusive, dominant father, he possibly didn't stand much of a chance. Perhaps the bubble has been the reason for his innocence throughout his life; he just didn't understand what he was doing and whether it was wrong or right. We'll now never know.

I can't and won't ever condone what he is alleged to have experienced with the boys in his bed or the way he behaved during the last 5-6 years. But, what I will condone is his music, the pleasure he brought to millions across the planet and his ability to set my feet tapping and bring a smile to my face when I heard his music.

None of us a perfect. (*8*) RIP.

Re: how do you feel about michael jackson...

To me it's just like yet another celebrity passing. It's like "Meh, I didn't know him personally, I don't have any feelings towards him and I've never been crazy about his music."

The only ones I feel sorry for are his kids, as they're going to grow up without their father.

Re: [merged] Michael Jackson Dies at 50

R.I.P. Michael Jackson

I still can't really believe he's dead. It doesn't seem real. Regardless of allegations that he was acquitted of he still played a major role in so many things in so many different ways, and that was just the "celebrity side" of him. He was also a father, a brother, a son, an uncle, etc. He contributed a ton to people everywhere in some way or another. It's still really hard to believe... His poor kids and family... I don't even really know what to say.

May the King of Pop rest in peace...

Those celebrities serve to distract us from those.

They´re not mourning because someone they never knew died -because that happens to 155,000 people every day- , they´re mourning because his demise has brought those troubles closer to them.

The death of one is a tragedy, the death of a million is a statistic. - Josef Stalin

People need a face to remember while they're mourning. Stop hating.

Re: how do you feel about michael jackson...

Here was person who had real talent but like many something called ego gets in the way.

Over the years not only did his looks change but also his personality. He tired marriage and it was a sham.

There were stories he was linked to having sex with young boys during his career.

The trial held few years go was like Michael Jackson video. Where he played to the court and jury and they found him not guilty. To this day I believe him to be guilty.

Re: [merged] Michael Jackson Dies at 50

MTV immediately started playing his music wall to wall for like two hours immediately after they found out he was dead. Then they did a little MTV News thing after they stopped playing the music. ...

WoW! MTV is still on-the-air?

~R.I.P. Ed McMahon

~R.I.P. Farrah Fawcett

I also lost one of my best friends on Sunday due to a torn aortic valve and then he suffered a heart attack. He was 24 years old and left behind 2 little girls and his fiancee.

~~R.I.P. JP~~

Sexytxcowboy86, I am sorry to hear of your friend's passing and send my condolences.

Although we miss family and friends when they pass, I take personally comfort in knowing and believing that death is just another phase of our existence.

As for the recent passing of Michael Jackson, Ed McMahon and Farrah Fawcett....I too enjoyed listening to Michael Jackson's music. "Thriller" is an amazing video.

Semper Fi (motto of the United States Marine Corps) Ed. Mr. McMahon is an ex-United States Marine.

I didn't even know that Farrah Fawcett was sick. I guess that I should pay more attention to commercial television and such....

Re: [merged] Michael Jackson Dies at 50

Many celebrity's have issued a statement about the passing of Michael Jackson. Below is just a few from those who worked with him or knew him well. Understandably, Elizabeth Taylor just can't deal right now, so her rep said she will issue a statement at a later time.

Brooke Shields: "My heart is overcome with sadness for the devastating loss of my true friend Michael. He was an extraordinary friend, artist and contributor to the world. I join his family and his fans in celebrating his incredible life and mourning his untimely passing."

Madonna: "I can't stop crying over the sad news. I have always admired Michael Jackson. The world has lost one of the greats, but his music will live on forever! My heart goes out to his three children and other members of his family. God bless."

Lisa Marie Presley: "I am so very sad and confused with every emotion possible. I am heartbroken for his children, who I know were everything to him, and for his family. This is such a massive loss on so many levels, words fail me."

Quincy Jones: "I am absolutely devastated at this tragic and unexpected news. For Michael to be taken away from us so suddenly at such a young age, I just don't have the words."

Liza Minnelli: "He was a kind, genuine, and wonderful man. He was also one of the greatest entertainers that ever lived. I loved him very much and I will miss him every remaining day of my life."

Corey Feldman: "I come to you today with great sadness, acknowledging the loss of the greatest entertainer in the history of mankind. For me he was more than that, he was my idol, he was a role model, he was someone to cry to when my childhood was unbearable, he was a brother, he was a dear friend. Unfortunately Michael and I had a falling out on September 10th 2001 and that broken friendship had never been repaired … I am filled with tremendous sadness and remorse. All I choose to remember from this point is the good times we shared and what an inspiration he was to me and the rest of the world. Nobody will ever be able to do what Michael Jackson has done in this industry, and he was so close to doing it all again. I am truly, and deeply sorry for all of the heartbroken fans and supporters worldwide."

Re: how do you feel about michael jackson...

Indifferent?

Didn't like his music much. Didn't impress me as a person. Tend to believe he was a fruit loop who didn't want to grow up and probably did paw at little boys - but I'm not about to say all sorts of nasty things about him.

I certainly wouldn't have wanted to have lived his life - and he more than likely [STRIKE]is[/STRIKE] was a total screwball because of his fucked up life as a kid (for which he can quite probably thank his father).

Oh - and I didn't realise it until I saw one of the news reports - but why is it that I tended to think 'Oh, that makes some sort of sense" when I saw it noted that he 'grew up in Gary, Indiana'...!oops! #-o

Beat it. Beat it. Smooth Criminal. Earth Song.

Re: how do you feel about michael jackson...

I feel he was an enormous talent but a very strange person.
Age 50 by todays standards is a relatively "young" age.
His show required a lot of footwork which probably would have slowed with age, but he probably could have continued writing and singing. Someone so obsessed with their appearance and ego probably wouldn't age easily or gracefully.
What shocks me is the public furor to find the cause of his death. He is gone, let him RIP and give his family closure.
