Need help translating Japanese kanji characters

thanks. 'save the bear' fits exactly with what i had, but 'let's not cry' is totally not what i had for that episode at all, so i appreciate the help..

It may be "moan, complain" rather than "cry"; as I said in my first post in this thread and in others in this forum, you can't translate a situation if you only know the phrases and not that situation in which they are said.

Maybe it is more an idiom meaning "let's not waste any more time and let's go... (save the bear)".

The characters are very common ones in Chinese, with the same sense in Japnese, but the text as a whole is Japanese and I don't work with Japanese, I can only infer... blindly

it's two different episodes, so the 'let's not cry' and 'save the bear' titles are totally separate, but you're probably right with 'let's not cry' - in that episode a pet bird dies, so i thought the title might be something like 'tanner's bird dies', but 'let's not cry' makes sense for that too.. the other episode is about saving endangered bears, so i pretty much had that one figured out - i just wanted to make sure.. i basically need each episode title to make menus for a dvd set i'm making of the entire series, but the official episode list that's available online is only partially complete, so i just need to translate a few of these titles to fill in the missing titles i can't find online..

^ Why don't you just buy a Japanese-English dictionary? It can always be an useful book even if you didn't have to translate titles for an English version of Japanese DVDs.

i thought of that (well not buying one, but checking online dictionaries), but to my untrained eye, all the characters honestly all look alike to me, so it was like finding a needle in a haystack trying to find each character by eye..

learning to check up characters is very simple, and it'ssomething, like I said, that can be useful, even if it is not the sort of skill than couls save yourlife i a given moment.

You're right... I assumed the two went together and forced the last "zo" to be a "de".... totally messing up the whole thing...
It seems funner if the really proficient let us make a fool of ourselves

There's a "newsgroup" called sci.lang.japan which has a number of Japanese language enthusiasts in.

Unfortunately, google's been shit at keeping out the spam, resulting in most of these former usenet groups after google's takeover being inundated with rubbish. However, if you have your own newsserver, you can prolly get stuff which is spam free. aioe.org provides free access to newsgroup services if your ISP doesn't support them. It's easy to sign up, and get a username and password. You can use Mozilla Thunderbird to access it if you set the newsgroup setting up with the infor at aoie.org. It's a text based, so no bells or whilstles.

thanxx for turning that into text.. i used that to try a few translation sites and got pretty much the same results -

俺は泣かないぞ = I will not cry (or) I don't cry (or) We does not cry

The third one says Amanda no Tenisu...which means Amanda's Tennis or Tennis of Amanda...depending on how you translate it. Either way, it doesn't have any significant meaning.
