New York Mets 2009

Must win today....K-Rod nearly blows it but recovers nicely in the tenth....Fernando Tatis may have found the swing he showed last year and whatever you say about Ryan Church, ultimately he seems a professional and when healthy like this year,a winner.

John Franco had the best intentions and he explained himself on a local sports news show...certainly didn't intend to slight David Wright though I understand how Wright could have taken it the wrong way.He should have talked to Wright personally after the story exploded to mitigate the controversy. But the one thing I will say is this team does need more direction and focus, coming from the top....the Wilpons,Omar Minaya,Jerry Manuel. The Mets have to have some kind of focus and as great a player Wright is,and however much a leader he can be,he cannot fix this club's culture by himself. Not fair to anyone, especially him.

And Johann Santana cannot point fingers without fully accepting culpability for such inexcusable things as walking fellow relievers and extending innings needlessly by his own actions....if he said "we can't be screwing up" instead pf ripping everyone but himself, that would be far more appropriate and defensible.

Great game yesterday...|

To watch our boys come from behind was encouraging, we have not seen them do that in a while.
Redding was just plain awful and once we were 5 runs behind and Redding left the game you had to figure we were toast. But a funny thing, something told me the guys were going to fight back and not just shrivel up and blow away again.
Sure enough they sure did. THIS is the team we need till we get our injured guys back. The comeback kids have returned. I absolutely loved watching Tatis after getting hit by yet another pitch (8 so far this season) and then stealing a base and then score on Ryan Church’s line drive. That is the kind of stuff that gets my blood pumpin when I watch baseball. Is Ryan Church Back? He looks much better at the plate now and has gotten his average up to .292 if Ryan is back that is a huge plus for us right now. HUGH! Same for Tatis who has been struggling he may have found his swing again, finally. Church and Tatis back in form, well how sweet would that be. Now we need Santos to wake up,

Mets are now back to .500
What a horse race the NL east has become with three teams all a breath away from 1st place.
Braves swept the Phillies; I guess Jeff’s lucky underwear worked.
Check out this thread if you dono what I mean.

http://www.justusboys.com/forum/showthread.php?t=269313

Phillies could fall from 1st this weekend and how sweet if the Mets are the ones to do it. Gotta watch those pesky fish though they are hungry and closin in.
Big kudu’s for Manual in letting K-Rod come back and redeem himself in the 10th. That took guts and I am proud of Jerry for giving Frankie that shot and making that call.

So big series this weekend in Phillie, are you guys pumped? The Phillies are wounded, we need to pounce on em and make cry for their mommies. We can’t let this chance get away from us. Hit em while they are down, smash em, kill em,. Um …well…you get the idea

I dono what to expect from this guy guy Lopez the Phillies have on the mound tonight. He is making his first major league start since 2007. At that time he had an n ERA of 4.42 in 14 starts with Colorado, and then he went down with an elbow injury that finished his season. He hasn’t pitched as far as I can see since July, 2007, I know they are using him cause they have little choice with the injuries and all. The Phillies are counting on him to come back strong and replace Myers otherwise they will have to draw from their farm where they have a few decent pitchers Chopin at the bit for the big leagues.

This will be an important weekend for the NL east.

METS SWEEP PHILLIES!!!

Now there is headline
Seriously, I would settle for 2 outta 3 then let the Pirates win at least 2 outta 3 against the Marlins.
First place Mets going into the All Star break.
Then after the break we get back Reyes, Beltan and Delgado

Hey, ya gotta believe. :D

Have a great and safe fourth everyone

Well, let's hope the Phils keep meandering around the field, and not play inspired baseball. Is this the same Lopez who pitched for the Orioles a few years back? If so, he was very mediocre, some nice games, but he is hittable, as long as the Mets have their hitting shoes on tonite. Lopez rarely went past 5 or 6 innings when with the O's. Glad the Mets won yesterday, a loss in that one could have left them in a funk, now with 2 wins in a row, maybe they'll get some confidence and pound the Phils. Let's Go Mets!!

Is this the same Lopez who pitched for the Orioles a few years back?

Yup that’s him. He played for Baltimore 2002 through 2006
According to Ron Darling the Phillies saw him in the WBC liked what they saw and signed him

Hernandez needless to say went into the crapper tonight, I did like what I saw from Pat Misch, he pitched three innings allowing only one hit. Very nice.
Ryan Church continues to stay hot going 3-for-4. Which is great to see, we need him now.

Of course the reason we lost was those Red hats.
IN PHILLIE ???
Are you shittin me?
Whose fuckin lame idea was that??
Actually it was the baseball federation/league whatever. Idiots!

Ok so today it will be up to Fernando Nieve to bring us back against Jamie Moyer
I have an Ollie update, is his second rehab at AAA Buffalo he allowed three runs in five plus innings. It is not definite but it does look like he will get the start on Wednesday against the Dodgers. This will mean Nieve’s start on Saturday could be his last cause if Ollie does come back it will men either Nieve or Redding will be gone. An important game for Fernando today cause after Redding last two miserable starts Nieve, if he pitches well today, has a shot to stay after Ollie comes back.

I like red hats.

Anyway, I'm sorry I didn't post about my Mets trip last week. I saw the 3-2 game Thursday the 25th. Great pitchers' duel, although I was disappointed not to see any homers. And K-Rod gave me and a lot of other fans a cardiac arrest in the 9th, getting two strikeouts then walking the next two batters. Thank goodness for a pop-out to end the game!

CitiField is quite nice and I wanna go back! I learned you have to get your ticket ahead of time, though, or the only seats left are the overpriced ones. (And what's this double service charge on online ticket purchases? Boooo.)

Disappointed not to see any homers,Thad? This hasn't been a season for any power binges at CitiField, especially for the Mets.

Fernando Nieve wasn' sharp but adjusted and kept the Mets in the game...ultimately betrayed by the "defense"....just head scratching, bone headed mslays by David Wright losing his focus that popup going toward the third base stands(whether a fan vocally interfered or Alex Cora was misunderstood still isn't completely clear.)Omir Santos misplaying another popup trying to one hand it and have it embarassingly plop off his glove....followed by Ryan Church's horrendous thow wide of home plate that got by and let an unearned run score....the comedy of errors tragically playing large yet again to Mets fans. This club not only as it is playing shorthanded now but during the most important stretches of the past couple of sesons has shown it is to be taken as a pretender rather than true contender....allowing longtime Mets pinata Jamie Moyer to ease through the lineup(David Wright in his defense hit a line shot right at second for a double play, but showed nothing in his other at bats)The one run the Mets score is driven in by Fernando Nieve, for God's sakes!!!People are laughing at the lackluster, goofy Mets now and this Mets fan is not happy about that situation and the club's play and internal culture ONE BIT.

In the Daily News,Omar Minaya says to the effect he has been given the budget authority to spend some more to get a trade done to give this club a chance at a lifeline. The problem Hhowever, he says about trading for certain frontline players is that currently disabed regulars like Jose Reyes,Carlos Beltran, and Carlos Delgado will be returning by early August and whomever they acquire would become an expensive bench bat.

Well, even if true how long will it take these players to round into form to be able to consistently contribute as before? The way the Mets are playing now,as close as the race is....as for the taking the NL East Crown is,if the Mets do nothing until then they may be on the treshhold of being eliminated anyway. You have more options in the offseason if you make the trade(s) as soon as possible.Resisting making a trade to give yourself a better chance to make the postseason because of quibbles over the possibility of playing time dilemmas when you can't count on the full ability to contribute by your returning players is typical Minaya bullshit and I want him GONE in the offseason.:mad:Like I said, another month and there may well be no postseason so who cares if the possibility may exist of playing time dilemmas?Hell, that would be a great thing the way things are going! The Mets need the best team out there possible, the team that WILL grind and execute and not talk about the need to focus and execute as they do now ad nauseam!!!

Mets fans do get a special gift this Wednesday possibly.....seeing a newly reactivated Ollie Perez who yesterday made one final minor league rehab start that saw him typically maddeningly all over the place....half his pitches were for balls. As starter or reliever, just another potential wild card(not in the good sense)for Mets fans to suffer nightmares.

Excellent post saucy, I knew I could count on you to put things into perspective...|

I would have little to add to those thoughts. Quite honestly I was not even going to post today, just too dazed and confused by it all. Let’s just say The 3, 4, 5, and-6 hitters were a combined 0 for 16. ](*,)

As to what ever the fuck happened to D Wright and Alex Cora, it was almost as if David said “fuck it” and let the ball drop. #-o A fan may have confused him I dono, but there is no excuse for what he did.
Ya gotta catch the ball.
By the way, just how many balls did Mets players drop yesterday anyways? What the fuck happened to fundamental baseball, I was 10 when I started learning about that.

As to Perez, I mentioned yesterday he will prolly play Wednesday and yes in fact that
decision has been made. In addition, it is Redding that will go to the pen. I have said it before and I will say it again I have absolutely no confidence in Ollie and Wednesday is going to be a disaster against the Dodgers lineup. A DISASTER!
Any takers as to how many innings he lasts? 2, 3 Will he even get out of the first??

F. Martinez’s knee is acting up again and prolly won’t play today, for a kid his age he sure gets hurt a lot.

Angel Pagan, should be ready to begin rehab games on Monday.

As far as a trade goes, in spite of how bad things are it does not look like the Mets are going to do any trading, Mostly cause for one we don’t have the talent to trade or are willing to give up, plus the other teams know we would be desperate and would ask for the moon for any trades. Second although there are a few guys out there, too many teams still in contention for a playoff spot and most would be unwilling to deal their players. Omar firmly believes that the guys on DL will be back soon enough and basically become reinforcements.

Thad1527, Citi is a pitchers park but what it makes up for in balls dropping into the warning track rather than outta the park it makes up for in spacious outfield. I think it has the potential to be a great triples park. What till Reyes, Delgado and Beltran come back and you will see what I mean.

Today it’s Santana who has never lost to the Phillies against Blanton.

The way this team is going,Johann Santana could pitch a no hitter and still lose,or get a no decision.I know with the situation the Mets are in,sonny and everyone that getting a trade done at reasonable cost is difficult at best,as te Mets minor leagues offer precious few gems other clubs salivate at.And Brad Holt,a potentially dominant young arm just promoted to AA sonny loves to talk about CANNOT be included in any deal....promising high level starting pitching is something you have to hold onto, eseciay when you don't have really much else with that kind of potential.Yes,in many ways with their injuries and poor level of play combined with the fact so many teams are still contention the Mets are dealing from a very weak hand on the trading front.

But time isn't on the Mets side and waiting on reinforcements like Reyes,Beltran and Delgado most pointedly to return in August to fortify the Mets neglects one critical thing. The Mets without doing a trade may not be in contention in August....the hitting is so lost and ineffectual, the pitching too hit or miss, and the defense too often plays indefensibly something has to be done that may give them a boost until the reinforcements return, but also to just give them a sorely needed psychological lift.Don't forget, just getting them back isn't enough....how long will it take them to work out all the kinks? They will take a while to return to form,if they can fully do so (Any Met fan really believe that Carlos Delgado will return to the second half devastator of last season?More likely in his case,we'll only see flashes of the old Delgado the rest of the season)Jose Reyes never really got going before his DL stint....Carlos Beltran already has had problems with balky knees, and no guarantee that he can consistently be at his dynamic, explosive self after the long recovery from the bone bruise on the knee.

No bat,no chance to win.....I think David Wright puts WAY too much pressure on himself,Gary Sheffield has been a gamer and a leader but at 40 with his knees cannot play every day in the outfield anymore.Ryan Church is okay but Daniel Murphy, finding it enough of an adjustment to change from an outfielder to a first baseman has regressed alarmingly at the plate....thinkng too much, rarely looking confident.Luis Castillo has been decent but isn't the dynamic sparkplug of old and Alex Cora is a solid reserve forced to impersonate a leadoff hitter but is best at a utility role.Omir Santos started off hot but still we can't forget is a rookie who has taken awhile to develop enough of an offensive game to make him a surefire top flight starting catcher just yet.

It's unavoidable,inescapable,undeniable.....the Mets need to get some quality bat to help get them out of their cesspool.....nothing else is working and desparate times call for risky, desperate measures.Maybe the Mets should call it a season....think about shaking up their core by sending away Reyes and or Beltran to help reload their minor leagues after the season, bring some fresh young talent to CitiField. However I would like to give this most winnable division a fighting shot, and maybe one or two new faces that can bring a professional quality at bat may still save this season. But only if Omar Minaya has the guts to act soon....waiting til the cavalry comes charging back in the next month will surely find the Mets efforts too late.

Well,I'm glad Scrub is happy over the way the Phillies scrubbed the Mets this holiday weekend!:p

You know I luv ya,Scrub!

As much as I loathe the Phillies, the Phillies wanted it more and though they weren't great overall they played with heart and determination. They have the WS ring....which is far more then these Mets have.Remember in 2006,as wonderful a season as the Mets had....it was Abs' beloved St. Louis Cardinals that won the NL title and the WS.That's why I say the Mets have proven in the past few years to be pretenders rather than true contenders. The team of 1986,hell the team that helmed a brief Mets renaissance from 1998-2000 in the Bobby Valentine era had far more character and heart.

it's just about over boys

this team right now is lacking in talent due to:

injuries - can't blame anyone for this IMO - bad luck

lack of, make that absence of a credible farm system - this is on minaya who has not been able to draft and trade for youngsters - martinez is the only guy that is highly regarded and he has done nada on his first call up - all other fill ins have been substandard and quite frankly are not future productive members of the mets

mistakes on the free agent front - perez was a mistake - lowe was available and the better choice - KRod was a terrific signing but other than that ............ Omar has done nada

what burns me the most is the glaring lack of fundamentals - on the base paths and on defense - bad enough on a good and talented team - but given how weak the talent level is now, you would think that effort/smarts would not be lacking

that's on manuel - who seems more interested in befriending reporters and creating quips for quotes than in winning or accepting responsibility

my next game is tues night vs. LA - will be good to see u know who - Manny - kind of a freak show i imagine

the ship be sinking

the great 3 of 4 series vs. St. L is a distant memory

Here's the bottom line on Mets minor league talent. Nelson Figueroa is the only rep from Buffalo on the AAA All Star team. No immediate help available there. I don't see any quick fixes to this mess, will just have to wait for the injured to return, which could very well be too late. The East Division is just begging to be won, but the teams there all have significant defects. Will be interesting to watch, but I'm not hopeful about the Mets' chances.

A lot of excellent thoughts here guys, thanks for sharing your feelings and ideas.

As mentioned above and as I have said as well, the Mets will have a very difficult time making any deals right now. As difficult as it will be I think we have to ride this out until after the all Star break and see what happens with the guys coming off of the DL

Everyone agrees that the core players return may not mean all of a sudden we start winning games, we don’t know how well they will perform, at least in the beginning till they get back into playing shape. I remain very optimistic about the second half; I refuse to quite my team or say things like its over. Jezz, that is all I have heard all weekend and even today at the barbershop. The guys I work out with are much more supportive and have been giving me encouragement, and I know the guys giving me a bad time are doing it out of love and not meaning to beat up on me. But it hurts cause I don’t have any answers, I just have to say the Mets are my team I feel the pain and I worry about their morale, it gets me a little depressed watching my guys get beat and I keep telling myself wait till the whole team is back together and things will change. Of curse that does not explain what is going on with D Wright, I have watched his swing, his approach and have come up with way to many problems to say just what is going on. He needs a day or two off for starters then he needs study the tapes and find his faults.
I played ball Sunday so I did not see the game. I got a text from my dad saying D Wright hit into an inning ending double play with the bases loaded. Once again 4-6-3, a play that is beginning to haunt us. 4-6-3 again and again.
I did not get mad I got to feeling really bad for David, I can only imagine what he must be feeling and going through theses days.
D Wright will be back count on that.

Poor Johan can’t catch a break, but my uncle tells me that after he gave up that run in the first he made the adjustments and pitched very well. I think as in years past Johan is going to have a spectacular second half.

In spite of the way they have been playing, the Mets with four have more guys going to the all star game than any other team. Wright, Santana and K-rod are going to lay and Beltran was chosen but can’t play cause he will not be fully recovered yet.

Oh, and a note to you Phillies fans, don’t get so excited over that sweep, the Phillies have not been playing well at all and in fact if the Mets with all their injuries were not playing poorly the Phillies would have been trounced from first place, The Phillies are in first place because of the injured Mets and not because they are such a great team anymore. Let em win some games or series against healthy teams before you start to celebrate. I t had to be said scrub but I still love ya (*8*)

I am a NY Mets fan and will not give up till the last pitch on the last day.

I am hearing good things about Jon Niese up in AAA Buffalo, he pitched a complete shutout this weekend allowing just five hits, striking out ten and walking only two. He is now 4-1 with an ERA of only 1.04 in six starts He has also been named International League’s Pitcher of the Week. So when Ollie cones back Wednesday and falls on his ass we have options. Nieve who will be given one more shot this week before moving him outta the rotation. Will be ready when Ollie gets pulled outta the game on Wednesday. We could also consider promoting Niese.
By the way, why is Ollie back as a starter? Why wasn’t he put into the pen so we could see just how bad he still is before returning him to the rotation? In Ollie’s last start in AAA this weekend he gave up seven hits, three runs, and out of 96 pitches only 46 of em were strikes. Sound familiar kids??
Yup same ole Ollie.
Wednesday he faces the Dodgers who have the best record in baseball, and now Manny Ramirez is back in the line up. Should be interesting to see and hear Mets fans reaction to Manny. The other day Manny was mocking his suspension by jokingly referring to his "criminal record," and he actually considered questions about his ban for having a prescription for a banned substance an infringement on his right to privacy. Wow, what a punk. But Ollie facing Manny, Gawd help us. :help:

Oh and joy of joys we get to see Ollie swing a bat again.
In the history of baseball have you ever seen a worse plate apperence than the ones we get from Ollie?? I don’t expect a lot from most pitchers at the plate but at least most of em try, Ollie is just absolutely pathetic. I have a great song for Ollie for them to play when he comes up to bat. “O’Fortuna” Ya know that scary end of the world type music we always hear when there is a disaster about to happen.

Fernando Martinez had his right knee examined yesterday, he received treatment and will be available to play on Wednesday against the Dodgers. I don’t think we will much of anymore though, he will be going back to the minors when Pagan gets back. Angel had one hit in three at bats with a run scored and a strike out through five innings during a minor league rehab game in St. Lucie last night. Omar said that Pagan could possibly play in three more rehab games before being activated. How much help will he be to our troubles ? well he is an excellent outfielder and before his injury had been hitting .333 with three extra base hits in 14 games for the Mets this season. A far better bat than Martinez, moving us just a little bit closer to normal. The Mets right now just have way too many guys playing out of position.

Tonight it’s Pelfrey, fresh off his awesome last start, against Kershaw who could go either way. We have seen him keep hitters off balance where they have problems making solid contact. Or he could be wild and erratic. “Wild and erratic” that sounds good to me ;)

A testament to the awesome Dodgers lineup, they already have Pelfreys number and have him all figured out. Even though Mike had his stuff going on and was using all of his pitches (I counted em) and seemed to be hitting his spots, LA was still able to maintain a good approach against him.
See …that’s how the game is played.

As to our offense (member that?) I found it extremely frustrating t see a new kid like Blake DeWitt hit one out of Citified, something our guys have forgotten how to do.
By the way, I gotta mention this couse well….. I just gotta, that Dewitt kid is a babe. !oops!

I loved watching that child Manny get ejected, what a fool, he was playing so well and he gets himself thrown out of the game when the over an umpire who had the audacity to call him out. Look we all know the umpires all have their own interpretation and there own measurement of the strike zone, sometimes it helps us and sometimes it does not, it kinda balances out, even that insane Derek Jetter play the other day. We have to accept that and move on, WHO THE FUCK DOES THIS PUNK THINK HE IS???

Ok back to more serious stuff, our injury situation just took a bad turn. Reyes returned from Florida and came into NY to get another cortisone shot. Apparently all was going well until he tried to run, then he felt pain again. This is not good, Omar says that his return will be pushed back another two weeks to the end of July but I am beginning to get worried that he may not return till mid August if even then. WTF is going on with him? How come they can’t figure that out?
Carlos Beltran has also been working a bit but he also is looking more like an end of July return and not right after the All Star break as we had hoped.
Carlos Delgado on he other hand continues to do will and is still on track for a mid August return to the lineup.
Billy Wagner is throwing to live hitters and is still expecting to be back in late August.
Dono what the Hell is going on with Maine, one day he is up the next he is down, another mystery the Mets docs can’t cure or figure out.
Ya know what I am starting to think maybe some of theses guys are not coming back for the rest of the season.

We now know who will be going to make room for Perez, Argenis Reyes has been demoted to the minor leagues. No biggie there he has been pretty much useless, plus it is better that he goes before Manual puts him in the lead off spot again.

Tonight is the night I have been warning you about, Perez is back. If you are squeamish or faint of heart, I do not recommend you watch this game, a sure fire train wreck.

I was at the game last night - as brutal as it gets

pelfrey could not find the plate - and spit the bit - walking guys and running counts to full across the board

when it became 3-0 we knew the game was over - what a feeling

kershaw throws 95 mph heat and a curve in the 70's - he will be a star for years to come - made us look like little leaguers

manuel did his usual no clue routine - letting pelfrey bat in the 3rd inning when he should have removed him

castillo has to go - first he bobbles and easy ground ball but has enough time to get the guy and throws it wide

then he tries to take 3rd and he's not really busting it - and he's out - the guy he's running on is known as having a great gun - castillo SUCKS

nick evans in LF makes us remember dan murphy there

church actually made a nifty catch on a tough ball in cf - if it gets by him, it's an inside the park HR

the dodgers are soooooooooo much better than us

ramirez is a dog - can't believe people r giving the ump shit for tossing him - he tossed his elbow pad (why are hitters allowed to have elbow pads??) back towards the ump who rightfully threw his ass out - even if the pitch was a foot wide :)

its brutal

being a mets fan that is

left in the 6th inning - i did

not sure how much of this i can put up with frankly

Well Olllie did not pitch as bad as I thought he would, he managed to get the job done. His slider was excellent and prolly the Dodger hitters were not expecting him to be able to throw that pitch for strikes which he did. But his command was not all that great, I thought he was rather wild. He still did his usual walking batters thing six is which is high. He needed 108 pitches to get through just five innings, his strike /ball ratio was about even so like I said he was just ok. But I heard so many sports guys since the game ended last night and today talking about “Ollie is back” and whew! Great to see him pitching well again. I am sorry but I do pride myself in having more than my share of pitching knowledge and in my humble opinion Ollie was adequate at best. Let’s see him win a couple of games in a row before we start to rave about his “comeback” I am glad it was Schneider catching for Ollie and not Santos. Brian knows Ollie better. But make no mistake about it Ollie called that game. Did you guys notice how often Ollie shook Schneider off? They worked very well together. Perez did manage to lower his ERA from 9.97 to 8.78.

Ok enough about Ollie what about that 9th with K-Rod? OMG another inning were I jumped to my feet (after Manny’s homer) and spent the rest of the inning pacing around the room. Seriously after that great effort, to loose that game would have been far too much to bear. I would have been, as many Mets fans, seriously bummed. That ground out double play with Cora in just the right spot was just how that game should have ended. Just great!

Now we gotta talk about Daniel Murphy. That play he made off of Mark Loretta’s line drive which bounced off first base sending the ball flying in the air. Murphy ran it down and then barehanded it, and tossed/slungged it behind his back to Bobby Parnell for the out. WOW! It was another one of my jumping outta my chair moments. Murph ever so humble said later he did not know how he did that and gave most of the credit to Parnell for covering first and being there for that toss. Murph also had a good night at the plate, good to se him pulling the ball. D Wright and Reed. Had some good at bats as well. Reed also made some outstanding played in the outfield. Over all just what the Mets needed, an exciting game and a win

Over the last couple of nights it has been kinda quite at Citifield except for the occasional boos the fans have not had much to say. But early in last nights game you could hear and see a shift in he fans reactions. Suddenly there was cheering smiles and chants of “Let’s go Mets” The park became electric again and that was awesome.

I had no plans to hit the gym today but I think I’m gonna go anyways just so I can see my boys and wallow in that victory last night.

For those of you who mised it, and for those of who just gotta see it again,
here is Daniel Murphy

^ nice to get a win - but even a blind squirrel ............

can't too juiced about it

ollie - 7 walks? WTF?

play by murph was on SC as the top play of the day and they're talking it up for play of the year

reed certainly had a great game

nice to see parnell with a good outing - see a pic of him? he looks like a little kid

didn't u have the feeling that if they went to a 10th inning they would have lost? like time just ran out on the dodgers

sorry if i am being a downer here but despite the win, seems so bleak

cannot imagine a scenario that we win the division

phils too talented and they will reload with a pitcher (Halladay???) at the trade deadline or sooner

they, unlike the Mets, have farm talent to trade

and you're right, CitiField crowds have been quite quiet, with good reason - not much to cheer about

good to get a win

Last nite's game was as if the teams had swapped uniforms. The Dodgers couldn't get a hit with men on base, made an error at a crucial time, and just generally did not play a good game. The Mets appeared crisp, had some good, timely hits, and got the outs they needed. Ollie was, well, Ollie. At least he didn't totally melt down, and give it away. The bullpen was okay, Parnell the best of the lot. Certainly a much needed win, and maybe D. Wright can get hot and carry us thru to the All Star break. Always hoping, Let's Go Mets!!
