RA Dickey dazed and confused those poor Braves hitters with a pitch combo that had them totally baffled. Prolly cause in eight innings he threw more sinkers than he usually does in the early innings, and later his knuckler was moving beautifully although you might have noticed it wasn’t moving the way it was last time out. He seemed to be battling just a tad getting on the side now end then, but still it was awesome to watch. The braves did not know what to expect..Poor babies. Yup it was a joy to watch RA dominate the Braves, oh..and knock around Tim Hudson as well was just the cherry on the ole pie. He also threw something in the area of 50 strikes.
So here we were in the top if the eighth and all the pen had to do was get three outs. THREE STINKLIN OUTS!! But no not our pen,
 ](*,)](/images/smilies/bang.gif)
first they had to torcher us give up three runs instead and come thisclose to blowin the game. I Ioved that Collins gave Acosta a shot but he blew it, I actually felt really bad for the kid as Collins took the ball. Then Frankie Rodriguez come up and really made things scary, with runners on second and third and one out, Rodriguez surrendered a three-run bomb to Diory Hernandez, a player by the way who had only hit two big league home runs prior to tonight. But K-Rod got it together and struck next two Braves out. Terry Collins is wondering whether Rodriguez was suffering through a period of arm fatigue.(dead arm) It was a scary scary inning cause had we blown that Mets fans woulda stormed the field and beat up K_Rod for sure, enough is enough with that pen..
Then there was the game Dillon Gee pitched, GOLLY GEE what a treat it is to watch him pitch. I mean think back; there was no room on the New York Mets opening day roster for Dillon, but then when it was clear that there were issues with the Mets starting rotation Dillon got the call in mid April a very smart move on our part. Gee now has a 3.33 ERA to go along with his 6-0 record. And by the way he has become the first rookie starter in Mets history to start a season with six straight wins.

If you watched the game you prolly noticed he kept up pitch for pitch with Jair Jurrjens who is without a doubt one of the best out there.
Our starting rotation of Gee, Dickey, Capianno, Niese and Pelf makes watching Mets baseball darn right awesome. Pelf scares me a bit but the other four are truly awesome.
Now if the pen could only get back on track.
Without our big guns Wright and Davis the guys filling in like Murph, Turner and Tejada are playing outstanding ball. Rubin’s defense just gets better and better and I can certainly see him as our shortstop of the near future, but now his offense has picked up as well a real treat to watch,
Murph of course continues to rock batting .451 (23-for-51) over his last 14 games. He just finished 2-for-3 to extend his hitting streak to eight games. He has seven multi-hit games during the streak, compiling a .568 (17-for-30) average over that time. Just so ya know, over his last 16 games, Murphy is hitting .466
(27-for-5) with seven runs, three doubles, one home run and seven RBIs. I keep track of those things
Justin Turner is batting .343 (24-for-70) in his last 20 home games. He also has 21 RBIs in his last 21 games overall.
Did you see Ike Davis in the dugout all weekend? I told you guys the other day how Collins invited Ike to stay in NY for a few days before returning to Florida just to hang lout and keep his morale up and man oh man has that ever worked out well, Ike loved it. You may have seen him in the tunnel after the game high fiving the guys as they headed for the locker room. It just made me feel so good knowing he was feeling so good. In Florida he could not even watch the games cause his Florida hotel does not broadcast the games. He tried a little fishing, which is his second love after baseball, but even that was not going well and he ended up spending much of his time in the room watching movies. So staying here with the ream was the best thing for him to do as he heals. As you know the team has given him a full three weeks off from running in hopes of letting his ankle heal. The hope as of now is for his return before the All-Star break or just after. It’s a weird injury that is just going to have to take time to fully heal, perhaps the way it happened when he and David ran into each other, Ike rolled onto his ankle, and David kneed him in the shin, pretty much It kind of drove his shinbone down a little bit, at an awkward angle which is how we believe his two bones scraped. As I explained to you guys he will keep wearing a protective boot for at least three more weeks except when he is sleeping. He has totally stopped running and hitting in an effort to let the bone bruise heal and will continue ankle strengthening before undergoing a magnetic resonance imaging exam. He will begin some rehab work this week in Florida on the road to recovery but this weekend here in NY was just what he needed. I will keep in touch and let you know how he is doing.
Carlos Beltran had an x-ray on that ankle and it came up negative so a couple of days off and he should be fine. That was a pretty scary sight watching him go down like that in such pain. If he needs a day or two more Prodie will fill in at right field
The team left for Milwaukie just after midnight last night to start a three game series with the Brewers Capuano will pitch the first game on Tuesday. It should be interesting for Chris pitching against his old Brewers team mates
The draft begins tonight, and Paul DePodesta and Sandy Alderson have said they will spend where warranted, not stick to MLB's spending guidelines. DePodesta said this morning that On draft day he thinks we're going into it with the idea that when our turn comes to pick in every round, we're going to take the guy that we think is the best player on the board and not worry so much about the signability portion of it. Basically what I read into that is that they are going to go after what we believe is talent.
