As I stated earlier either all convicted pedophiles are neutered or better yet just execute them all. Pedophilia is an incurable disorder that can't be contained or controlled like other disorders.

Are you willing to go that far to curb if not altogether eradicate it? Pedo lit is a distraction and not the problem. Pedophiles are the ones we need to be focusing on.

I find it interesting that so many people are so utterly disgusted by pedophiles and believe that even the mere thought of sex with children should be banned. The only reason sex with children IS banned is because children cannot consent. So as long as there aren't children involved with the process, then I see no issue with it. In fact, having a vent to release one's fantasies might help alleviate the desire to experience them in real life.

Saying that pedophilia is gross and therefore this site should be banned is so completely hypocritical it makes me want to tear my eyes out. Hardcore Christians could use the EXACT SAME argument to close down this site; "gay sex is gross and they shouldn't be allowed to talk about it!"

On a more actually comparable note, stories regarding rape are totally acceptable around here. Obviously it's not okay to rape someone in reality, but there's plenty of rape stories here on JUB and no one bats an eye.

Also, on a similar note, "under 18" and "child" are not the same thing. In most countries throughout the world, the age of consent is 16. So a story about having sex with a 17 year old man is very different than a story about having sex with a 7 year old child.

Yes, such fantasies can help some pedophiles not act out. himeros is correct in having some sympathy for at least some of them, because they're stuck with an attraction they didn't ask for yet can't turn off. Because I know a probation/parole officer here (thanks to trying to help a kid who has real gifts but who grew up with ex-cons as role models), I'm aware of two pedophiles in the community that have been helped by new drugs that totally turn off their sex drive: they absolutely love it, because between that and some cognitive therapy, they have almost no thoughts about sex with kids any longer, and the ones they do, according to one, are like someone else is thinking in in his head, and he can just brush it away.

OTOH, such fantasies also help a portion of pedophiles act out -- and that's why none should be on the internet, or in libraries, or bookstores, or anywhere else.

WRT the definition of "child", it varies. The National Safety Council in the U.S. has used 14 as the diving line for many years, but other agencies use different definitions -- and wingnuts like the Brady Campaign (or whatever the call themselves now) include up to 20 years old if it helps their statistical argument.

But the strict definition of pedophile means attraction to prepubescents (someone on JUB pointed out the technical term for attraction to those going through puberty ... hebaphile, or something?). I believe in being strict and correct with such terms in such conversations as this, so I stick to that.

Just wanted to make a comment about the assertion that there is no treatment for pedophilia.

It's true in one sense, that there's nothing that does the trick for all pedophiles. But it's false in that there are some treatments that help at least some of them. One uses a drug that results what's referred to in slang as "chemical castration": it kills sexual urges, period, and for some men eliminates the ability to get an erection... and for many, shut down the desire to do so. I forget the figures on it, but it wasn't a huge portion of pedophiles being helped by it, maybe like a fifth.

For some, the drug alone is enough. For others, it takes the drug and support/counseling group sessions weekly.

From a TV special I saw about it, based on work in Sweden, I learned that many pedophiles make the discovery about their attraction the same way everyone else does about theirs: somewhere in childhood or puberty, it becomes obvious what arouses them. For others, they don't discover it until they're past twenty or even later. And there's a really strange set who don't 'turn' pedophile until they're so old that sexual desire is fading out.

But the item really significant for this thread is that some pedophiles will learn to control it, will seek help and never act out -- but if they stumble on a story such as has been described, where you don't know what the ages are until things are already getting exiting, they've been known to turn suicidal.
I know the attitude toward pedophiles here is pretty negative, but the ones who are really trying don't deserve to have people putting stories out there that could take them over the edge -- just as the children of the world don't deserve to have stories out there that other pedophiles are going to gobble up and stoke their fires on.

Yes, such stories can be helpful to some pedophiles -- but they don't belong on the internet, they belong with trained professionals. We here at JUB qualify as the first -- not as the second. The same is undoubtedly true of Nifty, which means that they are negligently contributing to child abuse.

As the Moderator responsible for the JUB Story forum, I have to take issue with the phrasing of what you have said. By ' there's plenty of rape stories here on JUB ', I assume that you are referring to posts on the discussion boards, where the topic may arise but never acceptable in a fortuitous fashion. It is clearly indicated that no stories, fiction or otherwise may be posted upon the Story Board that relate to underage sexual activity or involving the description/portrayal of rape.

Despite the fact that many jurisdictions allow for sex between consulting males from the age of sixteen subject to certain provisos, this is far from the case globally. For that reason, 18 is the minimum age for membership of this site, the minimum age of any subject of a picture or video and the same applies to what is generally regarded as fiction on our Story Board. This is vigorously enforced by the moderation team. I trust this is clear to all who read or contribute to this discussion thread.

What it will take is a high-profile rape case where the perpetrator read online stories and the prosecution establishes a strong link. That would be followed by a lawsuit against the author and the host site, drawing on the conviction as evidence that such stories do in fact lead to harm to people.

So about six years from the beginning of the original trial, the case should hit federal courts. Four to six years later, it would arrive at the Supreme Court. The question then is whether they'd even take it. Before Obama's two appointments, I would have bet on them taking it; now, I don't know, nor am I willing to guess which way such a case would go.

The essential thing would be to have a mind-boggling string of experts on rape, from different disciplines, testifying how this literature can tip someone intp committing rape, how reading the stories serves as rehearsing for doing the rape, etc. That all has to get in on the original court level (unless a new study brings out results that bear on the case; a court can allow 'new evidence').

The argument before the federal courts would be for a compelling state interest in protecting citizens from a kind of speech that has a high likelihood of triggering sexual assaults. The evidence has been building; I don't know if it's there yet. SCOTUS has on a few issues noted that the threshold is lower when children are involved, so linking a pedophilia case with a rape one would strengthen the odds of getting a good ruling.

Feature is a pretty strong word. This site doesn't feature them like it is what they are known for. It has these stories, but I wouldn't say that is what they are known for. Apparently, however, I am not the only one that feels that this site is shit. I found an EXISTING thread, so I can't feel like I am this terrible person because others asked the same question.

There is this thing called freedom of speech. Don't like it, then move to a nation in which it is not allowed. I love Nifty.org; I read the "Young Friends" section when I was in high school. Nifty.org is free and it was my refuge when I was still in the closet--it made me feel as if there were others like me. I read the "Highschool", "College", and "Incest" sections. I write for the "Highschool" section. I enjoy my freedom of choice, speech, and expression. I enjoy my First Amendment rights. I enjoy that they were upheld when obscenity laws were trying to be enacted that would have limited them.

This is a nation of laws, follow them--Nifty is. We are human and make choices everyday. If you don't like a particular section, move on; there are other people who would like to read it, thank you!

I do realize the death penalty exists, but that still does not make its existence right. The death penalty should be considered cruel and unusual and wishing death on another person is wrong. Killing someone to teach society that killing is wrong dilutes the message. You're no better than the people cheering death in the Republican debates.
