No Kings Day

I went to the No Kings Rally in downtown Las Vegas.

As soon as I got off the bus at Bonneville Transit Center, a few blocks away, I noticed LOTS of police cars. A couple streets were being blocked off. But it was only Las Vegas Metro police.

I got distracted ..one block away was the Last Vegas Book Festival! My kind of thing! But I crossed thru to the protest site.

All peaceful. Hundreds of people with signs. Quite a few inflatable costumes. Lots of LGBTQ presence. The procedure was for protesters to parade around the block. People were offering water and cookies.

No overt police hassles.

I returned to the Book Festival. That's another fun story.

Well done to everyone involved, wish I could have been there.
Particularly well done to who those paraded in fancy dress suits, as every Teletubby knows, it gets hellish sweaty inside those costumes.

One lady near me kept waving a placard that was against "FACISTS". I have to believe she was calling out Kristi Noem. :ROFLMAO:

I suppose, on the other hand, the Trump video is a pretty good indication of how scared shitless his regime might be after the demonstrations yesterday.

I went to one on Saturday in a nearby town. Not a big thing, in a town of a couple thousand the turnout was something like six to seven hundred. There were counter-protesters showing up in singles or small groups after a while. I was so nervous I kept my eyes on rooftops the whole time but nothing serious happened.

I was really surprised to see a young woman waving a rainbow flag from the back of a pickup. In Midwestern Hicksville I didn't expect to see it. I wanted to hold back and tell her "Thank you" but I felt she would have thought I was some kind of psycho.
