No tip for a gay waiter. He got this note instead.

Tip wouldn't have made any difference but not tipping for their "reason" is crazy. Makes me want to go to a church and out a note in the collection plate "Although your church is beautiful and the choirboys very nice, I cannot in good conscience give a donation since your church does not support gay marriage (or fill in the blank)."

But...that would be just copycatting what the restaurant patrons did.

Instead I just hope they get OUTED on the net.

I guess it's all in what you take away from it. Two people acted like total assholes...........but dozens of people, including a minister, publicly denounced it. I remember when that would not have happened. It wasn't that long ago.
 
So what do the shitty tippers on this board that don't even reward good service to waiters have to say about this?

What, that they just should have left a different excuse?
 
If you want the waiter to earn a good wage, you have to persuade employers to remove the tips system as a means of supplementing the worker's wage.

It would be a fairer system to both the customer and the worker if everything is priced above board on the menu or bill explicitly for services rendered. That is, if you ordered a three course meal and the price is $50 then you pay only $50 and not expect to pay a tip on top.

Why do you need to tip someone in one line of work when you don't do it for say lawyers, or your doctor, the policeman, the ambulance driver?

Complete and total assholes. They weren't even sure if the waiter was gay. They judged him based on his appearance. I hope he makes so much more money as a result of this in tips from supporters.

I would, and have, walked away without tipping for bad service.
I wouldn't dream of 'defending' my decision
In this case there was no dispute about the quality of service, just a pair of bigotted assholes trying to ram their fairytale beliefs down somebody else's throat

Exactly. Here in the Uk we do not automatically tip.
If you are in a restaurant and the service is good then we tip. Otherwise we don't.
The staff are paid a reasonable wage so all tips are a bonus, as it should be
I have worked as a waiter in the past and, through good service, was able to double my wages most weeks. If I had had no tips I would still have had an OK wage
 
Because of people like this I have decided to no longer consider myself a Christian. Since I am Native American and part Native Canadian, I plan to worship the Native way. I have found many FB sites that believe in Native Spirits.
