This is what I keep pointing out that Obama inspires in his followers -- and it's not without precedent in history.

This is not the kind of unifying that brings together the diverse population of a nation, this is separatist, bullying, cult-like activity that is ultimately divisive and destructive.

Booing Representative Sheila Jackson Lee and Maya Angelou because they choose to support Hillary Clinton. This is not the behavior of a unifying movement, it's intimidation -- and that's what we've seen across America and on the Internet and this forum from Obama supporters.

Giving in to intimidation tactics from a political movement brings about very grim results.

We had a long discussion about boors and boorish behaviour some while ago.

It's more than boorish behavior. A dinner guest farting during dessert is boorish.

This is intimidation.

Intimidation has been used by the Obama camp against Hillary supporters all along.

Do you read history? Do you know what happens when political movements gain power this way?

You need to go to a link (above) that has a better video than the one you posted. KHOU tv in Houston covered that event and it explains why the crowd was booing Lee. It was not Clinton or Angelou being booed, it was Lee. This is her constituency in the crowd and according to KHOU her area is supporters of Obama 90 to 10 Percent.
This is not what Obama inspires in his followers it is what Lee inspires in her followers.

Could you explain your point more precisely?

Is it the percentage of Obama supporters in the district that explains that it's Lee inspiring that behavior rather than Obama?

Sheila Jackson Lee has been a consistently popular representative of that district for many years. If it's Lee inspiring that kind of response why hasn't it ever happened before Obama came on the scene? Lee continues to be totally consistent in what she supports and fights for, including Hillary Clinton whom she's been backing for years with the support of her constituents.

If everybody's getting along in a group, it's working well, the leader is liked and supported, then somebody new comes in and there's boorish behavior and the leader is booed, you think it's the leader who's been there all along that inspires the boorish behavior and booing, not the newcomer?

It has been these same aggressive bullying tactics that have allowed Obama to be so successful in the caucuses; in the privacy of the voting booth people stike back. If Obama gets the nomination, November will be a disaster!

Exactly.. I so hope people see this and see Clinton is the clear nominee to beat McCain this November. 'Cause now a vote for Obama is a vote for McCain.. These scare tactics and upright disrespect from his supporters (I cringe saying that, they are not really supporters, they are more like fans... supporters know the history of their canidate, supporters want the best for their country.. fans are just along for the ride, just there supporting the "cool" guy at the moment, as many cases I see with Obama fans.. being at one of his rallys is like being at an N'Sync concert..)

But soon like we've been seeing recently, the "cool" guy always comes crashing down.. and what we've seen is only the beggining.. November if, and I pray to god he's not, but if he is the nominee (ooops upchucked a lil' bit) the Rebublicans will have a field day with him and his fans. They will tear him to shreds and NO amount of booing and intemidation from his fans will build him back up. And I just dont think Obama or his fans are strong enough for that, unlike Hillary and her supporters who has been doing this for almost 20 years now.

If Obama is the nominee (damn I couldnt control the upchuck this time, I'll have to clean my keyboard later) come November we will sadly have 4 more years of Bush.

Wow. They booed her. How absolutely awful. I guess it hurt her feelings.

President Bush just recently got booed as well at a Baseball game throwing out the First Pitch. Is that intimidation tactics as well, that aren't "unjustified", in your view?

Obama is the more likely to unify the country than Hillary. Republicans already despise her, because apparently they already see through her when many of her supporters apparently are incapable of doing so ... even after the Bosnia story. The other half of the Democrats woke up to this and aren't supporting her. So that just leaves you supporters left.

Obama's likeability factor is much higher in the country than Hillary's.

The 3rd ward in Houston is in Congressional dist 18. Shelia Jackson Lee has been elected by these people. They are upset with her because the supporters are 90% Obama and 10% Clinton. As for your last paragraph, yes. It's not Obama's fault that Lee is getting booed. That is between Lee and her constituents. :D

Bush was most likely booed because, among many other reasons, he used lies to get us into an unnecessary and unwinnable war and our economy has gone to shit during his tenure. He's leaving the White House a failure.

The single reason Sheila Jackson Lee was booed is because she is not endorsing Obama.

If you don't see the difference between Bush being booed and Sheila Jackson Lee being booed there's nobody who can help you understand what's going on.

Obama's likeability factor is much higher in the country than Hillary's.

Yes, and being likable --along with being good looking and young-- is a highly prized commodity for some people in today's United States. But there is no substance to those qualities and they don't get anything done.

Being likable doesn't create plans or pass legislation to solve problems, and being likable doesn't unify a diverse population. Bringing people together is a whole different skill that includes working with people who disagree with you, not booing them.

You still didn't answer the question. Do you think Sheila's feelings got hurt?

Jesus christ! Oh my, someone got booed. Booing is a way of people showing their disapproval of someone or someone's actions. They had an opportunity to do that and they did. You seem to want to make it into something bad against Obama and his supporters. Give me a break.

imagine people at a political convention booing someone they are angry with and chanting the name of someone they like

imagine that! at a political convention! how dare they!

how naive are some of the folks who posted in this thread?

how naive can you be?

to get worked up by people booing and chanting at a political convention - just beyond belief

and as far as Maya Angelou - I heard one person boo her name on that videoclip - but she has taken a political stand, if she wants to play in the big time, these things happen, like one person might boo her name

I think this thread ranks right up there in the top 10 of "what fake thing will they get worked up over next?"

It isn't people actually getting worked up, as much as it is Feminists who are upset and are desperately trying to find anything, no matter how insignificant, any little thing at all that they can bring up and mold into being an attack against the opposing candidate and his supporters ... since their dreams of putting a Woman in the White House are slipping away with each passing day.

The thing is that they know this country will have a Woman President someday, which they want so bad. It's like Lost says ... they are voting with their vaginas. But why they insist on getting behind this woman, with so little integrity, is beyond me. If you are going to throw your support behind a Woman, why not make it count, and get behind someone with a little more character who isn't quite so transparent?

Yet you and I both know that if the roles were reversed and Sheila supported Obama, and it was a primarily Clinton audience who were booing ... Nick wouldn't be saying a word about any of this.

Sad. But so predictable.

That's not the question you asked. I answered your question. Or do you not know what a question mark is for:

But I'm glad to answer your new question.

Do I think Sheila Jackson Lee's feelings got hurt? Probably. She's been representing and working for the people who booed her for a long time, and until now she's been consistently appreciated by them. It hurts when that happens. So what's your point?

My point is that people getting "booed" is no big deal. Only Clinton supporters, such as yourself ... who are absolutely desperate to find any little thing you possibly can to utilize against Obama ... will think it is of any concern.

I don't see this being discussed in the Television Media or Newspapers at all. So, obviously the only person that sees Sheila Jackson Lee being booed as a grave concern is yourself, apparently.

Furthermore, if the roles were reversed, like I said above, and Sheila Jackson Lee was supporting Obama and a group of Clinton supporters booed her, you wouldn't be saying a word about it. And you know what ... nor would I. Because it is insignificant.

I would be very disappointed.

But this is much more than that because Obama's whole thing is he's going to bring people together -- Clinton's thing is her policy positions and substantive plans.

So Obama says he's going to bring people together but the truth of what he inspires is in what really happens: booing and intimidation and divisiveness.

I thought it was her "Experience" as well. You seem to have left that part out.

Now, as far as "Intimidation" ... that's rich. It's called voicing their displeasure, something you are allowed to do here in the United States ... believe it or not.

There is no more divisive candidate in this entire race than Senator Clinton, thus far. The candidate who brought race and gender into the election, in the first place, and has used every dirty tactic in the book against Obama, while padding her resume and embellishing her experience substantially.

And you think that it is behavior like this that will unite the country? Give me a Fucking break.
