Obama to Netanyahu. Drop dead!

China is the US's closest ally, at least in economic terms. They are one of the United States' biggest trading partners... they stole technology too, but so did Israel (and Israel stole nuclear technology).

https://www.uschina.org/statistics/tradetable.html

The statistics are huge. I think imports number more then Israel's entire economy. The US-China relationship shows dependency on each other.

Obama didn't call China our closest trading partner. That would be reasonably accurate. He claimed they were our closest ally. They aren't allies, but competitors. Obama needs to learn what alliances are about.

More skirting of the truth in such desperation. I guess when the republican ticket is self destructing you need to attack Obama in any way possible, even if it is out of sheer desperation. China is one of the US's closest allies, at least in financial terms. There may be problems, but they still trade huge amounts both exports and imports wise with the United States. If the US goes down economically, they will too.

And I think it's good to be friendly with the Chinese, instead of being backstabbing and nasty like the republican party wants to be.

I'm sorry but this entire thread reeks of bullsh*t.

Why reeks is your failure to respond to a very direct question. For purposes of this thread, we really could care less about what the republicans are doing. It's about Obama disrespecting Israel again and singing the praises of a totalitarian communist nation being our closest ally. Now why not try formulating a cogent response to the question posed, if it isn't too much trouble.

They are one of the United State's closest economic allies and that I agree with it. Obama knows what alliances are, apparently some in the right wing don't. The republican doesn't honor alliances, they do things unilaterally. Obama is 100% correct.

Go back and watch the video again. He didn't call them economic allies, did he? Do you agree that China, who steals as many of our secrets as Israel if not more, is our closest ally as Obama stupidly claimed? Or are you going to have a moment of intellectual integrity and admit that because they steal, just like Israel, they couldn't possibly be our best ally? And in doing so, admit Obama was wrong?

Lot's of action in the middle east -- whether Obama wants to get involved or not. He will have to get out of the back seat sooner or later and drive. Being leader of the free world comes with responsibilities.

There are too many conflicts going on in the middle east right now -- killing of a consulate worker today, attack of the embassy in Egypt and the consulate in Libya, Iran extremely close to creating a nuclear weapon and a "cruise type" delivery system, the civil war in Syria, unsettled governments in Libya and Egypt.

A powder keg waiting to explode.

He had better pick his sides very carefully. You want your friends to have similar character, moral, and interests as you.

He's absolutely 100% correct. China are ALLIES of the United States, even in the purest sense. And it's good to be on good terms with a country that has a massive economy... ISrael has stolen nuclear technology... and you fail to acknowledge this. Your attacks on Obama lack substance.

No, I admitted Israel stole our secrets. What you can't seem to do, is admit that you don't have the same standard for a totalitarian communist state as you do for Israel in terms of these thefts. You ignore China's thefts and castigate Isreal.

You're a admitted socialist who favors China over Isreal as does Obama. But you're sure that Obama isn't a socialist, right?

.
meeting Ms Clinton the 2nd most powerful person in the world isn't enough ? :##:
Its a non news story.

Netanyahu always comes back. I have no idea how many times he's been prime minister now.

I really think that if the GOP wants the american president to be Israel's bitch, they are going to be waiting for a LONG time. These people are threatening unilateral action that could bring us to the brink of nuclear war.

I am sure that is precisely why Obama won't see him. He is not taking THAT call, and they don't dare attack Iran unless the US is game for it.

That means it will HAVE to get through congress, and they are effectively out to lunch until January.

Nixon didn't declare China to be our closest ally. Do you consider china to be a better ally to the US than Israel? Lostlover complained about Israel stealing our secrets. How about China? They steal any of our technology? Like maybe a slightly damaged US drone they picked up cheap over in Iran?

Israel did steal our secrets on nuclear weapons. I'm not sure how friendly that it.

The way I see it, Israel's closest ally is the U.S., but they abuse that privilege, and are swooping to the right and falling apart. They need to get their act together before the U.S. drops them.

The U.S.'s closest allies are China (economically), Canada (geographically) and the EU as a whole (socially). The UK could be argued as the closest political ally, but I'm not so sure. You don't have just one mutualistic relationship. You have a network of allies that support you. If that network is consists of only one other country, but provides all diplomatic needs, then so be it. But the U.S. is not one of those. Israel maybe (to the U.S.).

The more independent a country, the more allies it should have to support itself. The more dependent need more allies. At some point a dependent country can become more independent (e.g. the U.S.). But in some ways, every country is dependent. The more independent ones depend on other interdependent ones. A country does not do well on its own. It also can't carry too much dead weight.

Right now, Israel is that dead weight.

We trade more with Canada than we do China. Mexico comes in third. Based on the list of top three, it would be silly to say that any of them are considered allies for their trade status.

We take just about anyone's cash, so that is no indicator. I guess you would have to dig into tariffs to find out who we trust most economically, and of course, thanks to Nafta, once again, we find ourselves at Canada and Mexico. We are also dependent upon cheap Mexican day labor, so there is that to consider.

China is not considered a healthy economy right now. Obama has stalled it, by diddling around with the exchange rate, and yes that would be to our benefit and on purpose.

China is heating up too fast now and is going into hyper inflation. America is still the best investment for the world.

Diplomatically? the UK, I believe is the nation that always sides with us at the UN.

As for military partnerships, well that's stupid to even ask. We don't partnership with anyone to our advantage. Our Military is still bigger than the next six below us combined. We don't partner with people militarily.IF we say we are part of a coalition with someone, they pretend to have a say and we try to not kill them accidentally. ;) Our military alliances are a sham.

where does Israel fit into all of this? it's a client state. We need at least one ally in the mid east no matter what, and keeping Israel Isolated from it's neighbors makes them need us.

Saudi Arabia is a great ally at times, but we need them, so the dynamic is different.

If Netanyahu is calling for a few planes and ships, from our military industrial complex, that just won't happen until after the election.

Diplomatically? the UK, I believe is the nation that always sides with us at the UN.

And that's who Obama called our closest ally, despite the lies. All it takes is an understanding of plain English and a pair of ears.

As for Netanyahu, he's not exactly been saying nice things about Obama of late, so I'm not surprised Obama would take the opportunity to send a message.

Yes, the Dear Leader doesn't consider Israel to be our closest ally. He considers the Chinese Communists to be our closest ally.

China is our closest ally - C-SPAN Video Library

Is it possible that he's truly this stupid?
I am far more pro-Israel than most of the regulars here but even I saw the clip as a shot at Mitt Romney's pre-Olympic declaration that the Brits may not be ready for the Olympics. That's the closest ally he meant. There isn't even room for "you didn't build that" type interpretations. He said that Romney wouldn't be ready for talks with Beijing if he couldn't even deal diplomatically by dissing our closest ally. The UK.

This exactly what Obama said: "YOU MIGHT NOT BE READY FOR DIPLOMACY WITH BEIJING IF YOU CANNOT VISIT THE OLYMPICS WITHOUT INSULTING OUR CLOSEST ALLY"

I don't hear Obama referring to China as an ally. It sounds like he's talking about Romney insulting the British on his UK visit.

Congrats, Jackoroe. Now you've gone FULL REPUBLICAN. You took Obama's words out of context and then spun it into a whole new lie. Breitbart's corpse is popping a boner right now.
