Occupy Wall Street

^^I'm happy to see it happening. I heard yesterday they were starting up in San Francisco. Is this our Arab Spring?

I am happy to see it happen, too.

Putting all the radicals in one area makes it easier for police to arrest all of them.

That's right justapixel, all the crooks are on Wall St. What I don't understand is why none of them are being arrested.

The police have arrested some thugs. Hopefully, more arrests will be made.

A bunch of thugs in handcuffs, awaiting the paddywagon.

^I was talking about this with knucklehead just yesterday...

According to him, the police have gotten WAY out of control up there... :(

I found one place where it is called "U.S. Autumn". A good name for it.
And yes pixie those thugs are the ones arrested for protesting without violence. The cops did the violence. NYPD is investigating one cop for spraying pepper spray unnecessarily.

I'm hoping this comes to Corpus Christi. I would love to get involved with a sitin again.
If enough of us join in these protests maybe, just maybe we can control the Corporations and tea party wackavists.

Cornel West on Occupy Wall Street: It’s the Makings of a U.S. Autumn Responding to the Arab Spring

It’s impossible to translate the issue of the greed of Wall Street into one demand, or two demands. We’re talking about a democratic awakening," said Dr. Cornel West when he spoke with Democracy Now! host Amy Goodman during a visit Tuesday night to the Occupy Wall Street encampment. Some critics have expressed frustration at the protest’s lack of a clear and unified message. But the Princeton University professor emphasized that "you’re talking about raising political consciousness so it spills over all parts of the country, so people can begin to see what’s going on through a set of different lens, and then you begin to highlight what the more detailed demands would be.

Too bad this is getting so big. It's really gonna piss off Conservative gays and conservative str8. Can't wait to see the final.

Thousands of Occupy Wall Street Protesters March to NYPD Headquarters

About 2,000 anti-corporate demonstrators marched Friday from a protest camp they have occupied near Wall Street to the headquarters of the New York Police Department. The noisy but peaceful rally was the largest since anti-Wall Street activists occupied a small park in lower Manhattan two weeks ago to protest corporate bailouts and corporate influence in politics.

"We got sold out!" the crowd chanted as it snaked through rush hour traffic, closely shadowed by columns of police.

Hand drawn placards included: "Nazi bankers" and "people before dollars."

I've even found a new website covering all the cities protesting in solidarity with Occupy Wall Street.

It's good to see an international solidarity too.

I really like their 'Pledge and Guidelines'...

From the www.occupyatlanta.org website...

We unequivocally oppose transphobia and homophobia. We are in solidarity with the LGBTQ community.
We unequivocally oppose racism.
Absolute respect.
We recognize and embrace the equality of our diversity as Atlantans.
We resist learned prejudices.
We share burdens by taking initiatives to fill roles and relieve comrades.
We encourage all voices.
We debate ideas, NOT PEOPLE, and disagree without being disagreeable.
We avoid labeling and targeted profanity.
We maintain a positive expression of the “message” by not engaging unstable or volatile people.
We do not accept physical or verbal violence.
We avoid conflict through active listening and awareness of body language and emotional responses.
We seek to grow from our mistakes; conflicts within Occupy Atlanta are opportunities to learn.
We are either all leaders or none of us are leaders.
Make friends! Make an effort to get to know people and HAVE FUN!
If you violate these guidelines online on any of our websites, forums, or social media pages, we reserve the right to delete the posts in violation. If repeated violations occur we reserve the right to block the offending user from posting.

This is great news! People are coming to their senses about how republicans are giving America to the wealthy and are trying to stop further damage.

It's just starting and will grow.

I am happy to see it happen, too.

Delusional.

I think it's a great idea. It's going to take massive riots and protests to call attention to the corruption and bring these corrupt individuals who started this crisis to justice, or at least out of business.

I hate to disappoint most of you on here but there are probably more Democrats on Wall Street than Republicans.

Remember the former Senator and Governor of New Jersey?

Your favorite communist, Van Jones, is one of the promoters of this protest.

Will this progress to anarchy?

After Wall Street is eliminated, what comes next? Don't get me wrong, I'm not a big fan of the bailouts of Wall Street, the banks, unions, and big business. I'm just not sure comrade Jones is the person you all want to follow.

Fellow travelers from the USA that helped start the USSR would be proud.

pres obama .......

I fully respect and support the right of people to peaceably assemble. Even kooky left wingers as this group appears to be.

But once they cross the line into rioting, as you've mentioned in your post, then the full force of the state should and will be brought down upon them. It won't end well for them if they become violent.

I'm thinking this is how the French Revolution started. History repeats itself. "Let them eat cake", it's class warfare you know.

Once the tea baggers and Republicans finish "starving the beast," and the government is completely out of money because the rich don't want to pay their taxes, how exactly do you suppose the "full force of the state" will be brought down upon the rioters?

And frankly, if the fucking capitalists are unwilling to fund the "full force of the state," why should the state defend them from rioters?
