The internet will be funny as hell for the next couple days. I feel bad for the La La Land cast and crew though.

Re: Official 89th Annual Academy Awards (Oscars) Thread

what a drama twist!! Warren Beatty...:rotflmao:

Re: The Oscars

I'm stunned! Just stunned. I can't believe that just happened.

Wrong Film Announced as Best Picture!

MOONLIGHT won for Best Picture after La La Land was announced as the best movie and the cast had gathered onstage. It would seem someone from Price Waterhouse team gave Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway an envelope that said "Emma Stone - La La Land."

The thing IS, she had already won her award for Best Actress. Beatty and Dunaway were there to announce the Best Picture. Beatty paused for so long that Dunaway chided him.
What an upset! Then someone from Price Waterhouse came onstage and said, 'no, that's a mistake. 'Moonlight won the Best Picture award' or something to that effect.

UNBELIEVABLE!!!!

Heads will roll for this! Steve Harvey must be laughing his ass off!

Re: The Oscars

Moonlight won best picture as well after a fuck up.

i haven't seen it yet, is it as good as people say or is it standing on the merits of having so little competition in the way of gay/black film? kinda like how blair witch was a piece of trash but all the other horror movies at the time were an even bigger piece of trash so it won simply by being the least smell steaming pile of shit.

I thought it was a great film, though I don't 100% agree with how people described it.

Re: Wrong Film Announced as Best Picture!

Actually, it was Producer Jordan Horowitz who caught the error, not Price Waterhouse. This should make for an interesting story by tomorrow.

Re: The Oscars

I liked the show more than most---Jimmy Kimmel fan and liked what he did---plus the added fuck up at the end was perfect lol
I haven't seen LaLa Land but most of my friends who did---and who know films---say they don't know what all the fuss is about.
Moonlight is an important film for many reasons---I don't know it;s the best but probably better than La La

Re: Wrong Film Announced as Best Picture!

Emma Stone: that card still on her hands!!!

Someone is in deep shit

Re: The Oscars

I never watch awards shows like this, but was amused to hear about the best picture cock up on the news this morning,

Re: The Oscars

until they acknowledge black hollywood it's just another schmooze fest to me
I reckon they did quite a lot of acknowledging. I reckon one third of the presenters were.

It was definitely a schmooze fest. I had to give up half way through

Re: The Oscars

I thought it was rather pathetic that a line of 'normal people' was paraded in front of all the botoxed, plastic luvvies.

The luvvies stared at the normal people. And the normal people stared back at the luvvies as if they were animals in a zoo.

Re: The Oscars

Aw bless, the Oscars, a bunch of out-of-touch luvvies patting themselves on the back.

It's really just another embarrassing N.American ego-fest.

Viola Davis is the first African-American actress to win an Oscar, Emmy and Tony.
Did she win because she is good? Or because there are quotas to fill?
