The procedure itself is unnecessary in the overwhelming majority of cases. But it is not seen as abusive and sexually motivated even with utter lack of medical need.

Actually this is false. My mother, a nurse btw, decided to get me circumcised for the belief that my penis would be easier for me to clean as I got older resulting in a lower chance of infection. She's also not alone in the idea. You're free to disagree with the belief if you want, but saying that there's no medical logic behind it is just false.

The medical establishment in general recognizes no substantive medical benefit assuming reasonable body cleaning on a reasonable timetable. It is not seen as medically necessary at all other than to deal with specific (and highly rare) disorders.
