Aye, it could be anything at this stage, even a Gas explosion (just wild guess).
It did happen 3 hours after the Marathon finished, if it was a terrorist attack it would be a big fail, so I a not sure it was intentional.
Looks more like an accident, but we will know more soon I guess.
 
Boston Police report at least 22 injured and 2 dead. There are some crazy nuts in this world.

The update I saw was that they had found more unexploded devices which lines up with the police doing controlled detonations.
 
The 2 explosions were a block apart, hardly seems like it can't be terrorism. Police reportedly have also detonated a third device.
 
There were TWO explosions - a photo shows an orange blast at the moment of explosion - with smoke from a second explosion some distance in the background. So that rules out gas explosions.

This is obviously a terrorist act at the height of a high-profile televised event.

The only question now is whether it was....

a) Islamic terrorists like those who plotted 9/11.

b) American far-right terrorists like the Oklahoma bombing.

c) A loner or nutcase like the 1996 Atlanta Olympic bombing.
 
Now it appears there were two explosions, a third detonated by police, and two more undetonated but defused.
 
Investigators have a suspect — a Saudi Arabian national — in the horrific Boston Marathon bombings, The Post has learned.

Law enforcement sources said the 20-year-old suspect was under guard at an undisclosed Boston hospital.

It was not immediately clear why the man was hospitalized and whether he was injured in the attack or in his apprehension.

The man was caught less than two hours after the 2:50 p.m. bombing on the finish line of the race, in the heart of Boston.
 
Came home for work to mow the yard before the storms come in, turned on TV and was in total shock innocent individuals attacked for now reason what so ever. Lets remain calm and not jump the gun as to who was responsible.
 
I hope the prick is in hospital because he (almost) blew himself up out of incompetence, instead of having been shot by the authorities.

He's Saudi, so no prizes for guessing his motive...
 
the whole point of terrorism is that you must know who did it and why . You MUST know this . Otherwise it's a car accident , people die or are disfigured for no reason at all and obviously people never die otherwise .
 
personally, I'd rather wait until all of the facts are in before making a judgement

The fog of major breaking news I'd call it.

It's these kinds of events where accurate reporting seems to break down, and unvalidated, erroneous and mistaken details seem to get on the air remarkably quickly and widely circulated before inevitably having to be corrected later on.

With the Connecticut school shooting it was first that he'd shot his father in New Jersey earlier in the morning, and then that his name was his brother's - with this event, we have first that there was an explosion in the library and then that a Saudi national man was arrested. All false.

The main culprit is the 24-hour news cycle and news networks desperation to be first with the newest dramatic revelation. Maybe they'll learn to do more fact-checking in the future.

CBS News senior correspondent John Miller said there is “an individual in custody,” a Saudi national who was near the scene of the blast.
 
One of the dead is an eight year old child.
