^Geez.
It's not about PC, it's about respect and coming together versus denigration and division.
"Redneck" generally refers to rural poor white people from the South or Appalachia (which extends into New York, Pennsylvania and Ohio) and those in other places who live/behave like that stereotype.
It's not a group like surfers or valley girls or sugar daddies. It's a class distinction, not a pop culture distinction.
Obama Democrats are being incredibly stupid in doing exactly what Obama did with his "bitter people who cling to guns and religion." Obama will not win without these people's votes --some are Republican but some are Democrats-- and this attacking will turn them off. People don't generally vote issues like Iraq, they vote "issues" like which candidate can they relate to, which do they feel will respect and address their concerns. (That's the reason some people appear to vote against their interests -- they vote "against" something others think is "their interest" but to them is a superficial thing, what they identify personally as their TRUE interests are what they've voting for.) The Dem "redneck" vote went to Hillary during the primaries, and the way Obama supporters are behaving it's going to go to McCain/Palin in the general.
