But isn't kind of obvious that there's a difference between what you might say to your friends, or on a gay forum, and what you can get away with saying in public?

I never thought he had any credibility, but for one brief shining moment he apparently had enough to get chosen as a judge for a lame-ass beauty pageant. Now he's blown even that.

How did he blow that? He is all about getting people to read his blog--more people now know who he is than ever before. Gossip columnists have long been despised, but people continue to eat them up.

Perez got exactly what Perez wanted, and all it has done is help get him more publicity. It also helped her a great deal. They both prospered from that interaction--far more people will remember her than the poor girl who actually won.

Apparantly you forgot about Sarah Palin. We all know how that turned out. I think the biggest problem for us a community is that we don't have a "Figure head" to guide us. We should seriously consider our priorities when gay pride comes around the corner.

Carolina Republican Virginia Foxx for calling Matthew Shepard's murder a hoax. The thing I don't like about him are the lewd drawings he makes on most of the photos he publishes.

While I am not a fan of Perez Hilton, I believe he had a right to say what he said just as Miss California had a right to say what she did.

I think there are three problems with the whole episode:

1. While I agree Perez Hilton had a right to call Miss CA anything he wanted, tying the comments to his question on gay marriage only gave ammunition to those that seek to deny it because they claim it is "immoral" or somehow wrong. He had a right to ask a question and she had a right to give her answer and her opinion to that question -- I actually respect her for that. I will say she was retarded in how she phrased the question (is this Jeopardy?) but it is time both sides accept the view of the other even though we may disagree.

2. When you become a judge, you are supposed to judge impartially; well allegedly. I know, I know, there is always personal influences in anything we do but the contest should probably be redone to provide comparable segments. All contestants should have been asked the same question and given a chance to answer. I don't care if they disagreed on marriage but if they were better at explaining their viewpoints, I think that would allow a true judgement be passed.

3. The news media love to focus on the "weird" aspects of gay life. Otherwise they would show Pride celebrations for all the good things that happen and not the crazy costumes that they try to show ... well...make us crazy! The costumes are fun if you take them in the total scheme of a celebration -- no different than Mardi Gras. Perez is, well, eccentric to say the least. I will admit that he just became far better known than he ever had been before which was probably the reason he did what he did; it is just that it doesn't make us look like rational people that can connect more than two sentences properly composed but instead have to result to yelling various expletives to describe another person with differing views.

I agree it takes more than Perez Hilton to frame the gay marriage debates. But many people will never have the opportunity to talk constructively with a gay couple and instead rely on news media outlets to form their opinions; such is the danger in a free society with a free press....

His doctoring of photos is indeed completely childish and tacky. Not everyone knows the reason he does it is because he doesn't use his own photos. In order to use other photogs' works for free, he adds his crude little scribbles and protects himself under a satire/parody umbrella. Several celeb photog sources went after him early on, but apparently he was able to continue doing it.

Honestly.. in real life he's a very nice, funny and fun guy. Always been very nice to me and very professional. He's always been nice to me and when I've had to contact him about copyright violations, he's been very good and addressed the problems.
