Aren't those same "gun free zone" signs at all the NRA rallies though?

Not all of them.

I do have this fantasy (god-strike-me-dead-for-it) (or not) that at some big gun show at a convention center, someone will set off a couple of strings of firecrackers in a couple of places and the gun nuts there will all start shooting at each other in response. A few mass shootings like that might finally get through to some of them.

I'd feel a lot of sympathy for the people who had to clean up the venue afterward, though.

This is one of the stupidest things I've read ever. Seriously. America just has no self awareness when it comes to guns.

And in all of this, what is it that mostly is being defended against? You guessed it........guns.

This whole train of thought is a self-contradiction. You need more guns to solve the gun problem, which puts more guns in circulation, which further exacerbates the availability of guns, which then results in more gun violence and death, so you need even more guns to solve the gun violence problem, which puts yet even more guns in circulation, and on it goes. It's an obvious death spiral that we are watching play out in real time. You can see it happening every single day. Eventually, guns become the answer to almost everything. We are all now being terrorized by guns.

Last week was Holy Week. Apparently, no one paid attention when Jesus was taken by the soldiers: "Put down your weapons. Those who live by sword, die by sword. [Jesus]".

We have to stop living by these guns. The one common element in every one of these mass gun shootings is guns. The answer to gun violence is not more guns.

Guns need to be restricted to those with rightful law-enforcement or military requirements, and to those who are properly trained and licensed who can demonstrate a legitimate reason. No one outside the military needs a military assault rifle.

If we cannot even acknowledge the problem, we will never get out of this death spiral and the violence, mass shootings, and mass death, will only get worse and never end.

There is no guarantee that came from an American. We all know who wants us to hate each other. We know that country floods the internet with propaganda trolls.

It's too silly to take seriously, but that may be the point.

It is true that active shooter and mass shooting events have increased since the assault weapons ban was allowed to expire in 2004.

Just a sobering reminder - the gun problem isn't just murders. There are an alarming number of suicides involving handguns. Too many guns, too easy access to guns and an underfunded mental health system= more murders, more suicides:

You aren't allowed to carry a loaded gun at a gun show.

True this...but there is no question that a huge swath of America, including politicians, generally has no real self awareness about guns and protection.

Having flooded the streets with weapons and letting every 18 year old buy war weapons, the only response every time is the same one...now we need even more weapons to protect us from the weapons...and we need them everywhere.

There is no perspective as to how countries that have not had a school shooting in years or even decades manage.

America is a gun. And the NRA knows it. And the USSR knows it.

The majority of people in the U.S. want gun regulation. The 'Pubs are blocking it. That is a money issue, not a delusion issue.

Gun nuts are not deluded that a gun decreases lethality in any number of confrontations, that is kinda the point. A lot of what you hear about reasons for having guns are pretty thin justifications for owning something the gun nut knows damn well he/she doesn't actually need. If I ask any of the guys I know who bought an AR-15 why they did that, they'll toss out some excuse about security. They don't however think anyone is actually going to come to try to kill them. The gun is mostly entertainment and ego. Most of them also agree that there should be background checks and bans on selling to violent felons, etc.

There are of course violent stupid and crazy people, but I would say very few people think they should have access to guns. About 30 percent or so of Americans own all the guns. The rest of us can't get regulations passed because the politicians on the right willl not stop taking bribes.

There is also a reason that Russia was funneling money to 'Pubs through the NRA.

Put it this way, you confront a violent stupid, and crazy gun nut about regulation immediately following a mass shooting, and he/she will immediately start spinning bullshit he/she knows damn well is just bullshit because they are insecure that they will get to keep their gun.

The Gun Lobby writes the script, they pay Teddy, the Bobbert et al to disseminate it, and the crazy idiot tosses it at you when confronted with dead children.

What we never discuss is the level of violence that has nothing to do with mass shootings that kill far more people.
