Political Cartoons, Memes & Amusing Videos

I don't think the problem is folks objecting to eliminating government waste.

The problem is the president is using a hit squat to target government employees he doesn't think will be loyal to him.

Firing civil servants has never been how our government worked. Incoming presidents were given the leeway to hire new agency heads and appoint cabinet officers, but they were not allowed to purge ranks of civil servants like Stalin did during his paranoid pogroms.

Our national parks have never seen a lot of wasteful hiring. They have had to fight to get enough employees to even maintain them.

And Americans would support the leaner government IF the process had been bipartisan, open, audited, and planned rather than carried out like some panty raid.

When loyal, hardworking public servants are fired without due process, without cause, without objectivity, they SHOULD squeal. It's not a sign of corruption, but of harm.

Your meme is the equivalent of blaming child abuse victims for crying. Unfunny.

The difference is that we don't send our children to the Oscars.

Turning our schools into armed fortresses is idiotic, even more so in a regime that is going to be all to eager to spread military force in civilian settings.

The solution is to incarcerate the criminally mentally ill, provide care to the ones who can be helped, and stop teaching individualism as an American freedom that leads the arrogant to slaughter masses when they just don't get their way.

The parties have squared off about gun rights and violence, but the cause is the arrogance of self and entitlement. We raise ravenous wolves of greed and lust and hate, and are then shocked when they don't become lap dogs.

It's us. We're the problem, not the guns.

I think the game will be something more like Trump resigning near the end of his term, making Vance President. Then, a false crisis will be manufactured to cause martial law to suspend elections. Just a hunch. Trump doesn't want to stay in the White House after he gets all the shit done he's doing now. You can even see it when he looks at Musk and has outsourced the work already. He'll take a bow, and bow out, still calling the shots, but free to go build Maralago Moscow, or wherever.

...It's us. We're the problem, not the guns.
It's both.

This is an example of how we sometimes don't see the forest because of the trees.

The trees are the need to hire protection for schools and awards shows.

The forest is, "Why did we allow our society to get to the point that we have to be afraid when attending school or attending an awards show?".

Ah, for the good old days when we were afraid of Islamic terrorism. Now, we have to fear each other... and it's because so many of us have guns and are mentally ill.

and it's because so many of us have guns and are mentally ill.
And because evil exists.

Whether we call it mental illness or evil, there are plenty of people who are fully functional adults, yet harbor murder in their hearts, and care not a whit for fellow human beings.

We should stop pretending it's humane to incarcerate them, or that society benefits from their rehabilitation, if it were possible. Lifetime (so-called) incarceration just serves to assauage the qualms of individuals who ignore statistics and aver from capital punishment because they think it too extreme because it is irreversible. It is not too extreme.

Execute them. Forget them. Protect society. Spend more on helping society than on housing animals.
