We could argue this forever. They didn't have automatic weapons or a whole arsenal of them. The NRA didn't own all of Congress, the White House and the Supreme Court.
The decay was from glorifying guns as the answer to every problem and saturating the country with them.

With the exception of the UT Tower shooting, I don't think those are the kind of "rifles" that are being used in school shootings. The assault weapons that are being sold and used in school shootings weren't being sold in the consumer market when the guys in this picture were in high school.
College team, BTW.

And that is a big part of the problem.
