The only ones I've known who recoil in the corner of a cottage have not been worms but rifles, except for the recoilless rifles, they just lean in the corner.

I have just found the tag of some Victoria's Secret crap inside a second hand volume (in squeaky perfect state, by the way) of a 2002 reprint of the Pléiade edition of the Qur'an... 230 size M, $12, MFG 1173, style 1781, col[our] 091, MESX 309... bar code 110 04847673.

An "eldergay" friend of mine (he turned 70 earlier this year) has a bunch of his paintings up for display at a bistro/bar here in town. Every Tuesday, he has a little get together there. I went to check it out last night. He improvised on the piano for a while (I caught part of the "Exodus" theme in there, but that was it). Then he had a bunch of other friends of ours come up and perform. He had a woman come up and sing to his piano playing - standards like "Ain't Misbehavin'". Another male friend played guitar and sang. And interspersed with it all, a burlesque performer did a few routines. All while I enjoyed a nice ham-on-baguette sandwich and a good drink.

It wasn't anything I hadn't done or seen before, really. But somehow, the experience really...well, if I can lean on crappy cliches, it "fed my soul". I felt a lot better about myself and my place in the universe. Something about seeing people I like doing what they love, I guess.
