Post something you've learned in life

Do not subscribe to: He who has the most toys wins! Do not buy lots of stuff. Means excess baggage if you have to leave a place and go to another! We are on this planet to love someone! fine that someone and you will not need to but lots of toys to win! Hope I find my love before I leave this planet!

Never get your hopes up, they'll only get dashed to pieces on the rocks of disapointment.

The older you get, the more you realize that you don't know as much as you thought you did.

Measure the worth of a man (even yourself) not by thier possessions, or wealth, or job title. Measure the worth of a man by the way he treats others when he thinks nobody is looking.

As Swimming With Sharks says in my favorite quote of all time: "Life is not a movie. Good guys lose. Everybody lies. And love does not conquer all." Because, well, it's true. I used to have this really idealized outlook where everyone really did everything out of the goodness in themselves, or at least, if they didn't, they still knew deep down what was right and what was wrong. But I was mistaken. People are confused and they never know right from wrong, and even if they did, I realize now that when I used to say 'listen to your heart' it was really a lot more to ask for than many people can give.

I also learned that gay men are not bound together in unity by the common experience of being gay in our society. That sucked.

And I learned that my high school really was top notch since I went to college and found that all my classes back then had more than prepared me for my introductory classes compared to my peers. I guess I really learned to appreciate what I was given and where I came from.

I've also learned not to diss the 5 years of consecutive sex ed we were forced to take from 4th grade and onward. Seeing how many people out there don't even know the basics of safe sex or just sex in general really made me see how different my school system was. And we're public school, bitch.

The purpose of life is to love and to learn: everything you do should be done lovingly and in the interest of greater understanding; and while an even exchange is ideal, it is more important to give love and receive knowledge than to receive love and impart knowledge.

you know you can get some meds to get rid of those voices

Realize the older you get, the less you know. You don't stop learning until the day you die!

Always treat your parents with respect. You'll be glad when you get older.

Never let any bad blood stay between you and another person. Work it out and find peace.

Forgive all the people that have hurt you, whether they deserve it our not! (*8*)

Don't step on people on your way up. The people you step on are the asses you'll kiss on your way back down.

Pay your bills on time and don't buy what you can't afford.

Credit cards are fine for emergencies. Don't use it to buy junk. Keep your balance paid! [-X

Try to learn something new every day by reading a book, attending a lecture, or visiting a museum.

Be thankful for what you've got. Envy a persons good character and not their possessions.

If you smoke, stop now. Eat healthy or you will regret it when you get older.

I'll make this easy for you- download Everybody's free to wear sunscreen by Baz Luhrmann. A lot of good advice, and it's a catchy tune ;)

JUB is a great place to meet people. If you are an especially vulnerable person be careful and take it easy. Same as in the 'real world', not everyone is really what they appear to be.

Ditto! Very good advice!

If you love the theatre, cinema, ballet and classical music as much as I do, then it is critical that you follow this advice - (*8*)

Some event, and or person is going to appear and or take place where you live - remember this may be the only time in your life you may ever get to see that person, drama, musical, ballet, or classical performer.

So, regardless of the cost or inconvience - go and see what ever the event is. You will never regret having done so.

Trust me people, that is probably the greatest thought I came up with at the age of 13 and what fantastic memories I have now of all those wonderous moments - and some of them did turn out to be once in a life time opportunities because some of those brilliant artists or events never appeared again.
