There is going to be a whole lot of ranting and raving from the loony left.

:D

We on the "loony left" expected no less.
Most corrupt politicians would help their henchmen.

I don't see anything to gloat about or to rant about. Presidents get to commute sentences and to pardon people. It is what it is. Libby is still a convicted felon. Justice is served.

Governors get to commute death sentences also.
Bushs' concept of "harshness" wasn't offended by the number of appeals he denied while governor of Texas.

darth cheney is officially pulling the strings of the puppet and nothing will change that perception now and history will remember this as a dark day in america

you are all out of your minds

Yeah, no biggie, let him go, after all, America is only at war and all he did was a teensy little bit of treason, no need to fuss, move along, nothing to see here.

Here is a little more of the early details. Why am I not surprised?

Bush Commutes Libby Prison Sentence
By MATT APUZZO, Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON - President Bush commuted the sentence of former aide I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby Monday, sparing him from a 2 1/2-year prison term in the CIA leak case.

Bush left intact a $250,000 fine and two years probation for Libby, according to a senior White House official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the decision had not been announced.

Bush's move came hours after a federal appeals panel ruled Libby could not delay his prison term in the CIA leak case. That decision put the pressure on the president, who had been sidestepping calls by Libby's allies to pardon the former chief of staff to Vice President Dick Cheney.

Libby was convicted in March of lying to authorities and obstructing the investigation into the 2003 leak of CIA operative's identity. He was the highest-ranking White House official ordered to prison since the Iran-Contra affair.

i think they are all on crack

they just nail the coffin closed on the next presidential run more and more

every republican candidate is probably writing hate mail to the white house as we speak

IMO, Libby probably told Cheney something like this, "You either get me a pardon or you'll be sharing the cell with me!"

haha

its probably closer to the truth than we imagine

the rotten right support this convicted felons release

how characteristic of them

Libby was convicted of perjury, Even though the President commuted his sentence nothing will change that.
Before the right gloats and rubs it in in, Just remember, A presidential election is coming and 67 % of the American public thought the sentence fair.
Just for context may I add ---- Clinton and Monica?
And I'm a moderate Democrat, not left or right, Just what is fair for all.

Is that cookies with the Kool-aid? Is there substance to our brainwashing now?

I am gonna write Bush to see if I can get a "get outta jail free" card.

toodles

Cheney will pay the fine. Scooter will be OK.

:D

Bush said no person involved in the leak would work in the White House. Libby stayed on until he was indicted and Rove is still there. So Bush's commutation of Libby shouldn't come as much of a surprise.

It's better for the Dems that Bush did it now rather than as a pardon at the end of his term.

It's a good example for the voters of what Bush is about and hopefully will drive his ratings even lower, certainly in the context of his lack of respect for the rule of law and incompetence in other areas.

It's also a good opportunity for those on the Right to reassess their judgement on Bill Clinton since, who would have thunk it, lying turns out not be such a bad thing after all.
