This is perfect demonstration that if there was any government over-reach...it was the State government of North Carolina.

Without consultation or respect for institutions like the university, the legislature moved to curtail rights that transgender people already had.

Elected representative in a single part of government aren't able to gazump the others by introducing unconstitutional laws or those that breach the country's various agreements and treaties.
Interestingly, a substantial part of the majority believes that in this case, the minority should be entitled to equal rights.

Outright majorities are supporting this within affected universities, but somehow only majority views within your preferred scope should count.

I agree, and representative democracy is historically the most long lasting, stable and successful form of government. Alas, in the US, after the Civil War, the democrats were reduced to being a collection of minorities, and that continutes today. The result is US liberals/democrats have developed an ideology designed to get votes and keep the democrats/minorities in power: anti majority, anti white, anti Christian, anti free enterprise, anti Americana and pro immigrant, anti straight, and ultimately anti democracy, and pro authoritarian. You can clearly see it among the democrats in this forum; scornful of democracy, eager to have the liberal agenda forced on America by the president and/or Supreme Court.

The slave owners were democrats, and my family never were. 3 grt grandfathers and 6 grt grt uncles fought for the Union. After the war, the southern democrat bigots, the immigrants, mostly Irish and Jewish becomes the party of minorities and have been attacking the majority ever since.
