I'm going to assume that this statement refers to white gays, seeing as racism is probably a bit more significant to gays of other ethnicities.

Running with that assumption, what's wrong with caring more about an issue that affects you directly? I believe it's perfectly reasonable for someone to acknowledge that there are other problems, but to focus on the ones that affect them personally.

No need to worry about african americans in general. Its not a problem with race. It is that most people are exposed to the color of white skin. Simple. If it was a race thing in general...I would not be included. Because the hatred would be geared tward the stereotypical African american. Not tward myself. The fact really is...That the White COLOR is attractive to many people...very simple.

I'm assuming that your concern is with this part of my post. If it isn't, please let me know as that's the part I'll address at the moment.

I made that statement as a response to this:

For some reason, gays seem to think tackling the problem of homophobia is more important than tackling the problem of racism.

In my mind, a person who suffers both racism and homophobia probably thinks that tackling each problem is equally important. Seeing as the term "gays" refers to a group containg people of all races, the above statement strikes me as unlikely.

While there IS such thing as racism against white people, I believe that it is far less prevalent than other forms (I am saying this from the perspective of a North American). Therefore, I think that AllMan's statement is a little more believable if it's applied to white gays who are, generally speaking, subject to homophobia but not racism.

That being said, I don't necessarily agree with my altered version of the statement either. It probably wasn't the wisest thing I could have said.
