Peto

Who in tarnation do you think you are??

Six months in the gang, and now you want to implement some obligations, specifically regarding Avatars !!!!.

So our Avatars puts you off!!!

No problem, IMHO, you have put off so many of my American buds on this site, not to speak of the Canadians you embarrassed.

At what age exactly did you experience your mental development arrest??

Please take a break, re-read your posts and comme back a gentle soul in 2006.

End of my rant.

Ok people, go easy on Peto. After all, he's Canadian. :rotflmao: Sorry Peto had to make a joke about that. Anywhooooo, I like my Billy and my Josh avatars. And when I feel like being the USS DEFIANT again, I'll put it up. Right now I want to be Billy so I'll stick with it. Actually, I want to be in Billy or Josh :sex: but that should be saved for another thread. ;) Oh I'm also shy. !oops!

Avatars are not really meant to be selfpics always, it can be anythin that u feel identified with. This isnt a dating site, so selfpics are not necesary.

Besides, not everyone has a webcam, a digital camera, a scanner, an image editing program etc.

I refer back to vanman's initial comment. Posting your pic in your avatar - no matter how gorgeous, butt ugly or any variation inbetween you are - does not tell anybody anything about the person. It simply shows the shell of the vehicle for transporting the person.

Of course, as its the internet, the only truth about any of us, is what we are prepared to honestly divulge to our fellow posters. You have my pic, but everything I've ever posted could be a pack of lies - so why does having my avatar make me a more 'honest' person?

Unfortunately, what you see and read from me IS me - and that's as good (or bad) as it gets. Not everyone on these boards has the luxury of being able to be as open yet, but it doesn't mean that the less open members as ogres.

You need to get past the 'looks are everything' as a starting point in establishing friendships here. Of course if you're looking for hooking up or dating, then I suggest you try a different site to JUB.

Alright then. Enough is enough. You've pushed too far this time. It just pisses me off when people like you just barge in here and start.......

......OMG I love this song. Anyone wanna dance?

I think that you are making an assumption not really based on factual evidence. How many of our 1000s of members have actually slagged of people for using photographs of themselves? 100s, 50, 10 or perhaps only 1?

Dude, you have any idea how many people LOVE to slag off people who have the guts to post pictures of themselves or talk about their lives?

just recently, someone posted a picture of some guy asking if he was cute (he was kinda cute in a rather ordinary way), and some people with no picutres in their gallery were downright vicious...

I personally have had so many people post these lame-ass passive-aggressive things suggesting that either my pictures aren't me or that I just post them to fan my ego.

People with no lives of their own are often slagging people who have the guts to talk about thier lives and the happenings therein and suggesting that anyone who's actaully got something going on is jsut making it up.

If you want, I could probably post about 20 links to examples.

I say if you've got the guts to show yourself, show yourself... and if you want to keep who and what you are under wraps, invent someone.. but let's all let each other be each other.. som eof my best friends here are a lot older or younger than I am... but none of them judge me for not being just like them.

oh shut up.

I was the first person.. months ago.. to tell you what a cutie you were in that "show us what you used to look like" thread.

and although yes, I can and am quite hard on people at times, I don't think I've ever gotten too close to the vicious, biting personal attacks I've seen from others directed at other members. I've seen childish tantrums and name calling, I've seen members chased away never to return becuase they asked a question other's didn't seem appropriate and i've seen some plain old racist slurs that blew my mind.

oh well.. who'd have thought that *I* of all people would be standing up for the down-trodden at JUB?

Man.. I knew quitting coffee was going to do something weird to me.

Well since no one has hit on the reason why I do not post my real pix.

Here goes:

I am Brad Pitt's twin brother, Arm

Now ya know!

It is still my opinion that you are making unfounded assumptions there. I have seen hundreds of supportive comments for guys who are far from young model material for every unpleasant one.

That in itself is an assumption based on your dislike of their comments.

And it is based on these 20 amongst the thousands of post from members that you classify them as old, sad, tired and past it.

Of course, I agree with your statements but find you language objectionable. There is, I hope, a place for everyone here at JUB and for every unpleasant comment made I see members jumping in to correct it.

Sorry to hijack but I was unable to let that pass without some form of reply.

If I had the time, I could find about 500 if you want.

yes, there are some very supportive posts here, but there are a lot of members who spend way too much time (and sorry, but although they may not all be old, sad, tired and past it, they are all either old or sad or tired or past it) posting slags at other members from behind that safe little curtain they've put up to protect themsevles.

please don't think I'm saying that everyone should post their pictures.. I'm saying that people who do don't deserve the ire of those that dont'.

I think.

what were we talking about again?

My avatar is not me. None of the pics in my gallery are of me. I have never claimed any of the photos to be me, nor have I ever tried to mislead anyone into thinking that any pics were of me. I have never posted a pic of me anywhere on JUB or any other website for that matter.

Why? Mainly because I am not looking to hook up, so I do not feel it is necessary. And I really have no interest in what anyone else here looks like either. I am here to converse, share ideas and viewpoints, learn a few things and maybe teach a few things, basically, for fun. If I make friends, that's a great bonus. I'm just trying to entertain myself in my spare time (or at least I was initially, although lately I've been coming here for support and to air out my thoughts and feelings about my current situation). Anyways, for me, posting a self-pic is irrelevant to my purposes for being here.

However, even though there is no pic of me here, that doesn't mean that I am any less honest about who I am. If anything, I can be MORE HONEST here because of my anonymity. Everything that I write here shows my true self a lot more accurately than a picture ever could.

The weird thing about having my pic as an avatar is that I seem to have stopped flirting over the last two days. I'm suddenly more aware that I'm being judged on my looks now - and not always on what I'm saying! But that's just a confidence problem - which I've always had anyway.

Real pictures as avatars are nice and good, but I agree with Jordan above me,that what is shared and learned among us is as real as any hot stud's mug.I,m looking at this as a community ,not a dating on-line service!

Eh whats up dock? Hey peto don't tell anyone but my avatar is actually me! After years of being chased be Elmer, Wild E and people lik THE CRUSHER I decided enough was enough and I retired in Montreal. Yeah the winter sucks but there is alot of cute guys here. Hey, by the way, have you met Daffy I heard he retired in Toronto. Any ways gotta go take care .

Carrots are divine you get a dozen for a dime you know it's magic.

My avatar is part of my history at LMAO and JUB so I consider it as real as anything else about me. I think I have posted a few of my face around the place at some time or another.
