Real World: Brooklyn [Merged]

im beginning to really dislike JD, he's so arrogant and obnoxious, ya hes cute, but still..he just rubs me the wrong way

Waaait a minute, what's so innappropiate about asking someone if they're gay???? Would you think it would be innapporpiate to ask someone if they're str8? I don't think so. It seems innappropiate to you because you unconsciously or not, are not a 100% comfortable with the fact that you're gay and you think it might be wrong or embarassing so you wouldn't be comfortable with someone asking you that in public...which says a lot more about you than the person asking such question.

Same thing goes with Kaitlyn, I don't see why she would be uncomfortable if someone asked her that. It's the truth, she was born a man and is nice that someone would even be curious about knowing who she is and how she feels (I'm not defending Ryan, just commenting in general). Someone asking that kind of obvious question is just trying to connect to the pesron and trying to get to know them. In any case, as long as he asked in a polite manner, I don't see what's wrong about that.

Oh shut the hell up. Asking someone if they're straight isn't the same thing because there's no discrimination against straight people and they don't deal with being in the closet. You don't know anything about me so stop making stupid accusations. I'm 100% comfortable with myself being gay. If someone who's gay wants you to know, they'll tell you. You should respect people's decisions to come out when they're ready, not out people and talk behind their backs with other people about it.

You're just one of those people who's in love with Ryan and think everything he does is SOOOO COOOL and SOOO FUNNY so you're up his but because you want to be up his butt literally.

I have the feeling Ryan is at least partly homophobic. Just the way he did his impression of JD and everything. There are other reasons why I don't like him either. If he changes then I'll change my opinion on him but for now to me he's an ass.

Asking some if they are straight is not the same thing. We live in a society where it is assumed that everyone is straight. Gay people are an oppressed minority. It is completely different.

People are uncomfortable answering that not because they are personally uncomfortable with their sexuality but because many straight people put all kinds of stereotypes on you after they know. Most gay people want people to get to know them as a person before some idiotic straight guy puts them in a box full prejudices of their limited knowledge about homosexuality. Or they dont want to be made into some encyclopedia where it becomes their responsibility to educate all the straight people on all things gay.

Ryan isnt trying to get to know anybody. He wasnt asking in a way that someone who as any respect or genuine would ask. He was just being nosy so he could run back and tell the others. If you have any kind of common sense you wouldnt use that tone and you would ask them in private so they feel comfortable. Just like people dont yell across a common area if he has ptsd. He is such a fucking idiot and a hypocrite because he didnt want to tell people about Iraq because he wanted people to get to know him first but doesnt think maybe Katelynn wanted people to know her first.

:=D: Exactly! In the previews, he was laughing with Chet that she hasn't let the cat out of the bag yet. It's 100% just to be nosy. Also he's got plenty of time to get to know Kaitlyn but I've seen those two interact the least out of everyone in the house. The only times they're interacting are when other people are around or if Kaitlyn is just wandering around bugging people and enter Chet/Ryan's room or something.

WHY HASN'T ANY ONE HAD SEX YET?!

Ryan has a girlfriend
Kaitlyn has a boyfriend
JD's gay
Chet's a morman and I don't think the girls want him
I don't think Scott's into any of them

That's all the guys and there's no lesbians so no sex. It's funny that in the past seasons everyone complains about too much sex, too much drinking and fighting but since this season doesn't really have any of it, people are bored.

Maybe Chet and Ryan had sex away from the cameras but we didn't see it. They probably went into one of the club's bathrooms and did it.

I dont know if you should have said sthu but I agree it is ridiculous to propose straight people are discriminated against for their sexuality. You dont see people bullies calling kids straighty or writing it on their lockers.

I also suspect this person jsut thinks Ryan is hot. People always make silly excuses for straight guys who they think are hot.

I think Ryanis slightly homophobic too because on the first aftershow Katelynn and Ryan were there. Katelynn and Ryan dont seem to get along. Katelynn implied that Ryan continued his ignorant and offensive behavior. Ryan seemed to be completely insensitive and unapologetic about making Katelynn feel like shit to this day.

Ok first of all I didn't mean to say "It seems innappropiate to you because you unconsciously or not, are not a 100% comfortable with the fact that you're gay"... I meant to say that if anyone is actually offended by this type of question is because they could be insecure about their sexuality, I wasn't talking about your case per se, I just didn't explain myself. Sorry.

Second, I'M NOT WATCHING THE REAL WORLD, don't know Ryan, I don't know anything about him and I couldn't care less if he's hot or not. I just stumbled upon this thread and disagreed with your post, regarldless of who you're talking about (Ryan, Bob, Jason whatever). That's why I said "as long as he asked that in a nice way..." if he didn't, then my bad, you shouldn't be rude to people just because. There's other ways of answering.

Asking someone if they are gay isn't the same but it should be and I feel that as long as we keep answering to those types of questions like we're "supposed" to answer (scared and afraid people are gonna judge us) then nothing's gonna change. I'm not saying we should be walking down the street with a gay flag painted over our foreheads, especially in situations that could be potentially dangerous for us, I just think questions like "are you gay?" should not be taboo anymore.

You know Devyn is hoping her and scott will be the first lol:sex:

She is obsessed with him! Watching her reason him out is so sad! He's gonna hate her by the end. She would never think that maybe he's not into her. What an ego she has! And Chet pulling his pants down was so immature He needs to grow up A LOT! Someone said they thought JD was an ass or something like that but I just think he's figuring stuff out. He had the worst childhood ever and he's not as shitty as he could be. I am not defending him but his dad steals from him, his mom said he was gonna be an abortion but couldn't get the money together, he has 5 siblings all from different dad's, he was in the system. For all that he's doing pretty good. I just hope he stops using alcohol as his escape. He needs to understand that he is using alcohol to self medicate. He's kinda at a cross roads. I have sympathy for him.

I am so completely impressed with what you said here. What an insight. I agree that Kate wanted everyone to get to know her first before telling her story of being a transgender.

Yes, Ryan and Chester are as nosy as any snoopy old lady next door with the binoculars.

Chet did a good interview I thought and I would expect that he would score a job doing just that.

It is a good season so far and for the most part.

I don't like pranks so much, and Ryan and Chester seem to thrive on them, and yet turn the tables and they are a--holes. Ryan going off on J D for the shaving cream was childish, immature and scary. I don't know if I'd want to pull a prank on an Iraq vet in the middle of the night (he did deserve it) and Ryan's reaction to the prank got a little scary weird - and the 9-11 thing was also weird because the guy he went with had brain injuries. I worked downtown when the attacks occurred and it was horrifying for every single person south of Canal Street. I realize the rest of the country and the world was horrified, but if you had been stuck in an office, unable to leave because the dust and burning, flying debris were so thick you couldn't see across the street. By the time I got home I looked like a ghost is ashes. Living as close as I do there was the smell of shit burning for months after, and working during those months down there was either stay in your office, wear a mask out or choke of fumes every day and night.

What I object to (and I'm not necessarily including you in this, innocentbychoice; it just seems that it's what you implied) is the idea that someone feeling uncomfortable being asked if they are gay is proof-positive that they are self-hating. It's possible that they are, but there are also hundreds of other possible reasons for that reaction; I certainly don't know enough about a person by watching them on television to make that diagnosis.

I would agree when that person is being respectful and genuinely trying to get to know you. But when they are acting like an idiot like Ryan and being degrading in their tone and attitude, it's best to ignore them.

If you havent even seen the show, how are you gonna come hereand make comments when you dont know what you are talking about?

Thanks. I hate pranks too. I always did. I dont think they're funny, just stupid.

:rolleyes:Dude, I answered to the other guy's reaction, not to what Ryan or others from the Real World did or said. And yes, I know that the other guy's reaction was about something Ryan said but again, I was just surprised at how it seemed that he implied that being asked if one is gay is completely, and I quote, "innappropiate". Basically my message is why should it be innappropiate? even if we live in a society that doesn't fully accept gays, the fact that someone asks us that, shouldn't bother us; we can choose to say yes or no -it doesn't matter- but why should we react like this:  OMG NO HE DIDN'T!" when someone asks us that????? It's just a FREAKING question, nobody is forcing you to answer.

That's it. Hopefully I made myself clear this time. And I don't think I need to watch the Real World to express that.

I agree with my fellow jubers, sometimes Scott is hot and other times I'm like uhhhhh but this is definitely one of those hot times...

I didn't like the whole shaving cream thing. First of all, it was JD's idea after he bitched all about not wanting to participate. Can dish it out but can't take it? And then the same goes for Ryan who got way too pissed. And then Scott said what happens if Ryan does a prank that he doesn't like and Ryan starts saying what's a good prank or not. No, Ryan, you don't get to decide every prank that's good or not.
I didn't think Chet did that bad in the interviews, as much as I thought he would anyway. And why did Ryan off-handedly think that Chet reminded him of Orville? Lol. Eat a lot of popcorn?
From the next eppy previews, looks like Katelynn needs some attention.

Scott is hot...as long as he doesn't open his mouth.. He has a great body for sure....and that underwear shoot was awesome. He is way too full of himself though

As for Ryan & the prank...I think there is some serious issues with him going on.. I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up being diagnosed with PTSD

i like Scott's accent.
i can't wait for a Devyn/ Scott confrontation during the reunion.

What a shallow douchebag? That's reason #1 I'm seriously not into guys that are so into their bodies that damn much. Sorry, but hell everybody isn't going to have a perfect body. I honestly believe that she looks fine aside from her messed up grill. Hell, most black women have curves, so if he like noassatol then he might be barking up the wrong tree. I knew there was a reason why I didn't care much nor was attracted to him and BINGO!

Every freakin' time I watch one of those dalies, I get a script error! Anybody else?
