Realistically, Who's Really Gonna Win the 2008 Presidential Election?

It's always nice to poll those in Hot Topics. So many people who spend their time here won't venture to post in CE&P for whatever reason.

One of the main reasons why many other members and I don't venture in there is due to the "Oh yeah, well so's your mother" mentality in there.](*,) (thanks, Lex! ;) )

At least there's some sense of humor in HT. :gogirl:

:p

If McCain won the Republican nomination, I could see him winning the presidency, but since he most likely won't be their candidate, I'm guessing Obama or Clinton.

On a side note, I really don't want a page in the history books to read:

41: Bush
42: Clinton
43: Bush
44: Clinton

Why not? Better than having it read:

41: Bush
42: Clinton
43: Bush
44: Giuliani/McCain/Huckabee/Romney

Or just end in Bush, with a note:
In 2008, after a series of terrorist attacks which are now known to have been orchestrated by the CIA, President Bush declared a State of Emergency and cancelled the general election scheduled for that year. A series of demonstrations led to the General Strike of 2009, which was brutally suppressed by the Blackwaters, who by then were famous for their ruthlessness, both at home and abroad.

Bush remained President during the Second Civil War period, until he was assassinated by forces loyal to his daughter and named heir, Jenna Bush Romney, in 2011. She briefly assumed the office of President-for-Life which he had held, but this shortly became moot when the United States formally dissolved in 2012, and she died when the White House was bombed by the Blue Alliance Air Force in 2013.

By then the former United States were so torn apart by war that they had ceased to be a serious power in the world; the Chinese Takeover in 2018 was historically inevitable, and all right-thinking historians view it as a positive development. All praise to the People's Republic!

Brrr. I'm gonna have nightmares now.

For whatever reason? Are you kidding me? Have you seen CE&P? (Don't answer that, of course you have.) That place is f'n' freightening. Chance* and his ilk? (I didn't use a real name.) Oiy!

All I want to say is that I wish they would all just go away.

What frightens me is that there are more "Red" (Republican majority)states than "Blue" (Democrat majority) states.

And the same people who helped Dubya to weasel his way into the White House twice are going to try and push one of those frightening guys (aka those that will continue the policies of the current administration) in.

Are we, as a nation, ready for a woman or African American as Chief Executive? I say "yes."

Will the rest of the nation think like me? I just don't know.....

I think you're wrong on one point, Criostoir. I think McCain is the one who is clearly deranged. The rest of them, at best, are a misguided, bigoted lot. But I agree with the rest of your post--it is too early to tell.

Weimarian? Nice! ..|
Thanks. Got the idea from a point-by-point comparison of the Bush Administration changes to the ones made at the end of the Weimar Republic. Heard it on the radio.

But remember, I live in the NYC area. I remember Giuliani as mayor. He screwed up massively before 9/11, putting the Command Control Center in the World Trade Center, and storing vast quantities of fuel there. When his advisers told him the many reasons that was a bad idea, he told them he wanted it within walking distance of City Hall. He's an actual loonie; you can hear him ranting about ferrets on YouTube. And he was a repressive little dictator in general.

Huckabee thinks God gave him a boost in the polls. 'Nuff said.

Romney is a feather on the wind. He'll say anything to anyone for a vote or a buck. Hard to know if he's actually nuts or just completely without morals.

What's crazy about McCain, other than that he's a warmongering jackhole? See, I think he's evil too, but the others are evil AND CRAZY.

I personally wouldn't mind McCain, but I agree with the other three... Guiliani seems to me like he'd welcome corruption, Romney is not honest; his only goal in every debate is to appeal to as many large constituencies as possible, and the White House in Huckabee's control just downright scares the shit out of me.

I've studied the electoral maps and we aren't really red or blue. Really more like purple. Not to say there are not red and blue but many of the states are a mix.

GWB "won" in 2000 because of fraud in FL. He once again "won" in 2004 because of fraud in FL and OH.

Regardless. The USofA is no longer a government for the people by the people. It is a government for the corporation by the corporation.

Why do you think the Democratic opposition is so weak/lame. They have the same money backers buying them as do repugnicans.

Can we move this thread yet?

Kisses,
dj

Well, if this thread moves I will probably abandon it. I've heard about CE&P; in those dark waters I do not care to swim.

You are a smart man. I made the mistake of venturing over there last night. I read one thread and fled screaming!

All the candidates are so up & down in the polls, I really don't think there is a clear favorite in any of the parties. The one candidate that really scares me is this Ron Paul-from Texas, he is absolutely not intouch with reality! There are others that scare me as well.

Don;t screw it up again America!haha

zacly! But didn't you see greaves' post? All people from the USofA are totally stupid! Hence 8 years of GWB!

Is this thread moving soon?

It will really depend on who wins the primaries. If Huckabee wins the Republican side I just can't see him winning when people realize what a nut he is. But then again, I can't believe that we had to have 8 years of Bush.

If Hillary wins the primary, I think that it will give the Republicans a much better chance to win. They are really counting on Hillary winning.

My favorite, and I realize that he really does not have a real chance of winning, is Dennis Kucinich. He is probably the first person that I have ever seen run that I really have a lot of respect for and admire that he is willing to say what he really believes and that his beliefs are so caring. The media did not even give him a chance. They would not even ask him any serious questions on issues and treated him like a big joke. The media, as usual, has been very irresponsible and people should be fired because of it.

--BEETLEBAUM!!!!--

It is kind of like a horse race, after all, though only the old-as-dirt JUB'ers will likely understand the reference LOL.

I think that Hilary probably has the most savvy on hitting back against the Swift-Boater types, and in the end it will probably be this, rather than the actual issues, which will count the most. How sad.

I guess I'm not as old as dirt yet. The reference is vaguely familiar, however. Care to explain?

How sad? Yes, yes indeed!
