RedFox70 Appreciation Thread...

I've heard it's always good to look for silver linings. Given she has her internet back, and her work hours have been reduced, a certain Fox is going to have more time to post her Awesome memes, and pics of HOT Menz! :gogirl: (!w!)

Something to look forward to! ..| (*8*)
Chaz :luv:

(*8*) Good evening my dear Miss Fuzz-Face

Good to have you back.

germ.jpg The Chinese virus didn't arrive to our county until Thursday. Not much has changed, most restaurants have take out only, but some still have dine in. My life has not changed. Going about as usual. At work I just stand back and smile at the customers instead of checking the receipts and what is in the carts. But, still caught a bike that was not paid for and stopped one that tried to run out without paying. My hours remain unchanged. Got a raise of $1.66/hour.

Still taking your nephew for walks?

Reading your post from doctors, I wonder how most people have enough brains to survive.

Stay safe.

Good evening, my dear Mr. Fluff-Butt (*8*) I'm glad to hear that you're doing okay (*8*) I took my nephew out on Wednesday and hope to take him at least once next week.

Chaz (*8*), I was thinking something similar! ..|

Good evening, Foxy, (*8*) I hope today was not bad, and that you are relaxing this evening. I’m watching the York Railcam. It’s interesting to see all the trains coming and going, and that, as expected, there’s no passengers on any of them. Some, according to one source, are to be withdrawn from Monday.

Good evening, Rob (*8*) Thanks, it was a strange day at work, but okay. Similar situation here with buses, the lack of passengers I mean, or at least as far as I can tell and of course services have been reduced. I'm guessing that unless we have to go into total lockdown, some will have to be kept on, otherwise some workers will not be able to reach their workplaces.

Good evening Foxy

Im starting to get paranoid

^ Aww (*8*)

Quite a number of our customers come in wearing face masks and gloves and most of the staff wear gloves also. People should do what they feel is right to protect themselves, and also those they may come into contact with.

Hey, Chaz (*8*)

Good evening, dear Ali Cat (*8*)  @ the foxes  I wish I had a roommate :( I might have my nephew over for part of this week, just for some company.

Hello, lovely Adam (*8*) I'm so glad that you stopped by, I've been thinking about you and hoping that you (and G) are okay (*8*)

Good evening, Gatorguy (*8*) Wonderful picture :luv2: I hope today finds you well (*8*)

So, more changes at work. Now even stricter social distancing measures have been implemented. Customers have to queue up outside and are being let in at intervals, and only then when the first aisle - this being the main food aisle - has only a handful of people in it. A few of our aisles are closed, eg, clothing and toys. Oh, and I decided to wear rubber gloves today. Trouble with that though is that they kept ripping, so, I had to change them many times. And now the backs of both hands are in a bit of a state :(

Make sure you keep your hands moisturized.

I hope you stay safe. Have the put a barrier between the customer and the cashier? They're putting up plexiglass shields all over the place here.

Thanks, that's good advice (*8*) When I go to bed tonight I will smother them in hand cream and wear cotton gloves, that should help a lot.

Nope, no barriers as yet. It has been pointed out, a few times by customers, that the distance between them and the cashiers is a lot less than the guidelines. Actually, even moving around the store, there are times when it's not always possible to keep the recommended distance.

Greetings, all. I wanted to drop in some info on gloves. I'm not a medical expert, but I think this is reasonably accurate based on what I know and conversations with people who deal with this sort of thing.

As discussed on this page (https://www.sacbee.com/news/nation-world/national/article241129091.html), which I selected somewhat randomly,

It might seem logical that gloves could help prevent you from touching infected surfaces, but it doesn’t really work that way outside of a clinical setting... if you’re touching unclean surfaces with gloves and then touching your face, you might as well not wear them at all...You’d have to change your gloves or wash and disinfect them as often as you would your hands in order for them to be effective, according to the publication.

You get the virus primarily by breathing and otherwise via mucous membranes in your face. Medical workers who handle bodily fluids may need hand protection, but (assuming your skin is intact) casual contact in other situations won’t infect you via your hands if you don’t touch your face or other body parts with accessible mucous membranes (I'll let you think about what those might be.)

Gloves may give you a false sense of security and you’ll forget about not touching your face, or, perhaps, they might give you a visual reminder and help you. If you are touching a lot of whatever, your gloves will accumulate germs and you’ll still need to wash at some point before touching yourself or your things.

Washing with soap and water (for 20 seconds) is the best protection. Alcohol gel is for when you can’t get to soap and water right away.

The virus remains on surfaces for a relatively long time, so you generally shouldn’t touch your face at all unless you’re recently washed.
The above referenced article said:
A new study found the COVID-19 virus remains viable up to three hours later in the air, up to four hours on copper, up to 24 hours on cardboard and up to two to three days on plastic and stainless steel.

Since my partner works in a hospital , when he comes home he changes clothes outside and those things get washed (along with paper currency in a lingerie washing bag), plus he wipes the various surfaces - phone, lunchbox, shoes, etc. I wear a mask, not gloves, when I handle those things in case of flinging the virus around.

Stay safe, everyone!

Forgot to add -- if you're required to wear gloves, wearing thin cotton liner gloves (washable!) underneath makes them much more comfortable.

Tl;dr  :jk:

Thanks for the info, most beloved of cousins (*8*) So, yesterday I tried double gloving, that is wearing a cotton pair underneath the latex, but I couldn't operate my till, so decided to dispense with them totally. We do have hand sanitizer readily available and I used that several times and of course washed my hands before and after my shift. I wash them regularly at home also, always have done. Sounds as though we should all be wearing some kind of face mask though. However, I really couldn't cope with one of those, unless it was a top quality one that would allow me to breathe freely as I find that standard masks don't allow for circulation of exhaled air and my glasses get steamed up! Maybe we should all be issued with perspex face shields??
