  • Hi Guest - Did you know?
Hot Topics is a Safe for Work (SFW) forum.

Representative Gabrielle Giffords of Arizona Shot

they killed all the links and pages about two hours after the massacre occurred.

so all thats left are screen captures.

A link to a dead page. I want to see sources that confirm the page was the shooters. I think it's likely that the person was of the Tea Party but I'm not going to throw around accusations until I see more evidence that would suggest so.

ps. Regardless if it was or not. I do feel that ad campaign of Sarah Palins is in poor taste and should have never even been allowed to be done in that way. I also think some of these 'political speakers' get away with a little too much.

I did not understand the member to be claiming that the page (now taken down) was the page of the killer. He was seeing it as connecting Palin to violent rhetoric. I'm not sure that it even does that. The reference to a "political hit list" is not about murder. It's not just a hit list. It's a list of politicians who are going to be hit by political methods, i.e. targeted for efforts toward defeating them at the ballot box.

Maybe, but she could have done it in other ways instead of showing them via gun crosshairs.

what we need to do is stop using language like "take them out" hold rallies with m-16's and jabber on about second ammendment solutions.

If that was not th case the cross hairs would be pretty little graphics.

But gun graphics were chosen and sister sarah will have to live with that.

I can tell you that this whole thing has got to stop. It takes two to tango and all parties... ALL PARTIES.... have to agree to affirm that violence is not a meaningful means to power in america, and then we need to prosecute those that don't get the message.

I should say that there is a place for acts so provocative as to assure a reaction in my arsenal. In this I agree with Kuli in the outcome but not in the foundation and reasoning. Kuli would find his foundation in his version of natural law. My foundation is merely pragmatic. I would simply point out that our freedom from England was achieved through violence.

and now we need freedom from washington through violence?

Mrs. Gifford was on sara palin's hit list....when is that big-mouthed bitch from Alaska going to be held responsible for her caustic comments....she should be tried for treason and then imprisoned for life. She is a real threat and the folks of the tea party are equally threatening. For anyone who says the tea party is not a neo-nazi racist organization I say you have not listened to their rhetoric. Also, glen beck, flush limbaugh and bill o'reilly should be held equally responsible for the madness that is threatening this country today. It is a sad day and I do believe that words hurt and have the potential to drive unstable individuals to unspeakable acts of terror.

If it is eventually demonstrated that there was no link whatsoever between Palin's explicitly violent metaphor and Gifford's assassination attempt, the rhetoric will remain reprehensible.

We should have the legal freedom to express ourselves stupidly. That does not make such expression right.

It is shocking how many right wing conservatives live in Arizona. They pretty much rule the state.

I wish I could live in California, but I simply can't afford it.

So, I'm stuck here with all the crazies.

Screencap of right wing blogger who targeted Giffords. The page, located at http://hubpages.com/hub/Sarah-Palin-Target-ID-Gabrielle-Giffords has been taken down.

Did a little more research. This is NOT from the accused.

I think that a lot of it has to do with it being a mecca for the elderly to retire...even more so than Florida. Republicans tend to be very fearful of change....and the elderly tend to be more so as well. (That is of course being overly generalistic. I'm not trying to imply that all elderly people are like that.)

Also, it you took surveys of what group of people are the most bigoted and prejudiced, it is typically the elderly at the top of the list. Look at the people against gay marriage and you will usually find the same thing.

There's so much wrong in your tirade, it's hard to know where to begin.

1. The abuse of treason laws is so dangerous that the founding fathers defined treason in the Constitution:

"Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort."

How in the hell does Sarah's poorly thought out campaigning fall under that?

2. The charges of the Tea Party being neo-nazi and racist are ridiculous, especially after hearing what you advocate. You want to imprison someone for life over exercising their free speech rights. That sounds pretty authoritarian to me. That kind of thinking is more dangerous to this country than any rampage shooter.

The Tea Party advocates fiscal responsibility and adherence to the Constitution. That's it. There is no racial agenda there, as much as some want to smear them with that accusation.

3. Unstable people will hear crazy shit in anything. The Son of Sam thought his neighbor's dog was telling him to kill people. Charles Manson was set off by the message he heard in the song "Helter Skelter". You can't go holding people responsible for the crimes these nutcases commit.

I don't think I need one.
You mean you don't have one! The Tea Party just elected Marco Rubio to the Senate -- what kind of neo-nazi racist organization elects a Cuban to the Senate?
