The bit about being No. 1 for 2 weeks surprises me,
just cuz IMO "Give It To Me" isn't that great of a song...and I didn't expect other people to like it too much either...

I only liked Nelly Furtado's parts in the song and felt it was getting attention mostly because of the starpower attached to it...


meanwhile
I feel "Way I Are" is a much hotter song but has names that are pretty much new and unknown to the general music audience...

Wow this is so awesome i was watching TV and the new ad for Amercias Next Top Model came on, here it is and youll see why i put it in this thread, Rihanna is everywhere. She is superstar. She has made it all thats left is the Grammy and UMBRELLA can do it for her and this song too in the dance recording category.

Mika’s Relax, Take It Easy sits at number two for a fourth consecutive week, while Timberland Feat. Keri Hilson climb two places to three with The Way I Are. about time the song fell down its been there way too longer than what it should have been. I don't see what was so great about the song anyways had nothing too different about it

The song has great production and Rihanna's understated voice fits the song to a tee. Someone like Beyonce could pull this song off, but definitely not as well. I like the sticky sweet, slightly nasal tone of Rihanna's voice. And the hook is brilliant. What more can I say. ..|..|

While i was pleased to see another UMBRELLA thread on page one let me just say for the record that i was not the one that bumped it; but the good thing about the bump is that it shows that people on a whole get how meaningful the song is unlike merlot :rotflmao:

I know, ever since UMBRELLA blew up ALL over the world reports came out that the song was offered to many other people before Rihanna got it; but it just seems like its Rihannas song because it fits her style and voice so well. Another artist would have butchered it LOL.

Oh my gosh guys i am just so excited i couldn't wait until the 30th to bump the thread (!)

This week was the last week for new songs and only Alicia Keys came out with, "No One" and her voice is gone clearly and even if it wasnt lets get real. "No One" is no match for "Umbrella."



Ok, well thank goodness Rihanna released, "Hate That I Love You." before the cut off date as well as "Don't Stop The Music." Smart move because now she can be nominated in more categories.


And in the original i said i was going on a limb about, Album Of the Year but i take that back because reviews of teh Album are saying, it is more than a possibility (!)











And just for the record i spoke with a music insider and he said that technically Rihanna can still get a best new artist nomination because UMBRELLA made Rihanna know to the entire world.

Yes people liked S.O.S and Unfaithful and Pon De Replay, but they would hear the song and say, " i love that song but i have no idea who is singing it."

It doesnt ,matter how many albums an artist has or if its their debut year.

Its complicated and subjective but if the academy really liked Rihanna you can be assured that UMBRELLA wont be her only nomination.


Because lets get real the Grammy people know they messed last year by not nominating, S.O.S for best dance recording. They should feel bad and want to make up for the snub.

Have you been under a rock? Umbrella is/was way too huge a song to be ignored. What was that? Popularity doesnt win grammys? It wasnt only popular its a great song, listen to the lyrics and the production. Its the total package and only Rihanna could have made UMBRELLA what it was.

Have you any idea how man UMBRELLA covers are out there? That says something.

Also the Grammys is a TV show, they want ratings. People in general all over the world love UMBRELLA, so if its nominated, people will be pissed and not tune in and cry Bullsh*t.


This is Rihanna year Dammit and really really wants it and worked hard for it.

Umbrella is by far the record and perhaps song of 2007

I Dont Think She Will Get nominated for anything, the only song with substance on that whole record is "Rehab", Umbrella is not a very well written song to begin with, Shut up and drive samples blue monday, and her voice isnt very strong, the future looks very dim for rihanna!

Rihanna strutted her stuff down the catwalk last night 09/26/2007 during the Dsquared fashion show. The designers are big fans of her and she’s been looking great in their designs lately…

She’s been their number #1 catch lately with so much publicity on that black jumper and hot brass knuckle boots she rocked in the past by the twin designers. She made an appearance during their Spring 2008 fashion in Milan on yesterday.

Maybe. Just maybe Rihanna did have a chance to win. Last year. And then, someone, somewhere, read threads like this - and got so sick of the worship, and did not bother to vote for her.

And she lost.
