Rise of Fascism in the United States [SPLIT]

Some of us called it all the back to 2019...his playbook is the same as Putin's.

This was the agenda he planned on imposing after his 2021 coup...but they had to wait another four years to bring it to fruition...during which time, it was shaped
into a white supremacist christian nationalist agenda.

In an earlier post, I said that you can't swing a dead cat in the Trump Administration without hitting a sexual predator.

If you don't hit a sexual predator, you're likely to hit an addict.

Speaking of Jeanine Pirro 🍸, her office- the US Attorney for the District of Columbia  - is responsible for this latest fiasco. Pirro has developed quite a reputation for her repeated failures to get indictments out of grand juries. Hopefully, this "investigation" will result in yet another failed indictment.

Lawfare for Dummies, Monetary Edition

DOJ’s criminal subpoena to Fed Chair Jerome Powell is a self-defeating fiasco.

By The Editorial Board

Fed Chair Jerome Powell says the criminal subpoena issued to him is about controlling interest rates and not any wrongdoing. Plus, the number of protestors killed in Iran continues to rise while President Trump weighs his options to intervene.

In the annals of political lawfare there’s dumb, and then there’s the criminal subpoena federal prosecutors delivered Friday to Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell. President Trump would do himself and the country a big favor by firing those responsible for this fiasco.

Jesus Christ.

The US government isn't even trying to hide it any more.

Yeah...well...I don't think anyone anticipated the Supreme Court making Trump a King, did they?

I think we need to know which judge signed a search warrant to invade the private home of a Washington Post reporter:

The FBI searched the home of a Washington Post reporter early Wednesday in connection with a criminal case involving a leak of classified information.

Hannah Natanson, a Pulitzer Prize-winning reporter, was at her Virginia home when FBI agents executed a search warrant and seized her cellphone, two laptops and a Garmin watch, the Post said.

The search was related to Aurelio Perez-Lugones, a systems engineer in Maryland who holds a top secret security clearance and allegedly leaked information from the Pentagon, according to an FBI affidavit obtained by MS NOW...

The FBI search raised immediate alarm bells from press freedom advocates. Bondi in April rolled back a Biden-era policy that prevented officials from searching reporters’ phone records when trying to identify government employees who had provided sensitive information to news outlets.

The Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press (RCFP), a pro bono legal organization that works to safeguard reporters’ and news organizations’ First Amendment freedoms, called the FBI search “a tremendous escalation in the administration’s intrusions into the independence of the press.”

“Physical searches of reporters’ devices, homes and belongings are some of the most invasive investigative steps law enforcement can take,” RCFP president Bruce Brown told MS NOW.

“There are specific federal laws and policies at the Department of Justice that are meant to limit searches to the most extreme cases because they endanger confidential sources far beyond just one investigation and impair public interest reporting in general,” Brown said.

The interesting thing and the judge who signed off on this subpoena needs to explain is that the investigation into Perez-Lugones alleges that he took classified information home but does not allege that he disseminated the information to other parties.

The search warrant for Natanson’s home was linked, according to The Washington Post, to the criminal case of Aurelio Perez-Lugones, a government contractor with a top secret clearance suspected of moving classified material to his car and home. They seized a cellphone and Garmin watch from Natanson’s home but told her she is not the target of the investigation.

A 10-page criminal complaint against Perez-Lugones makes no reference to disseminating that material. But prosecutors warned, in a separate filing, that they’re concerned Perez-Lugones could disclose that information if he’s released from custody while awaiting trial. A hearing on prosecutors’ effort to keep Perez-Lugones locked up is set for Thursday in Baltimore.

The alternate facts press...

The Washington National Opera has announced that they are parting ways with the Kennedy Center, after over 50 years.

AP reported the story:
Washington National Opera bows out of Kennedy Center

The Washington National Opera announced Friday that it will move performances away from the Kennedy Center in another high-profile departure following President Donald Trump’s takeover of the U.S. capital’s leading performing arts venue.

The opera said it will seek to end its affiliation with the Kennedy Center through an “amicable transition” and will return to operating independently. It cited financial constraints imposed after Trump fired the Kennedy Center’s board and installed allies to oversee it.

The opera will reduce its spring season and move performances to other venues “to ensure fiscal prudence and fulfill its obligations for a balanced budget,” the opera said in a statement.

And NPR:
Washington National Opera leaves Kennedy Center, joining slew of artist exits

The Washington National Opera is leaving the John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts, its home since 1971.

Friday's news, shared with NPR in a statement via email from the opera company, comes in response to new policies which the 70-year-old performing arts group said strain its financial model.

The Washington National Opera stressed the "amicability" of its decision to end its longtime residency at the Kennedy Center. But it said the center's new business model, which requires productions to be fully-funded in advance, is incompatible with the usual mix of ticket sales, grants and donations that cannot all be secured ahead.

But of course, Breibart made it sound like the Kennedy Center dumped the Opera:

EXCLUSIVE–Trump-Kennedy Center Cuts Ties With In-Debt Washington Opera, Opens Stage to Global Talent

The Trump-Kennedy Center has ended its exclusive partnership with the Washington National Opera, citing unsustainable financial losses and the desire to open the stage to opera productions from across the United States and the world.

According to an exclusively obtained letter provided by the Trump-Kennedy Center to WNO leadership dated January 13, 2026, and sent via Federal Express, the Trump-Kennedy Center (TKC) made clear that the exclusive relationship with the WNO had become unsustainable. The Center emphasized a commitment to commonsense financial planning, stating, “The Trump Kennedy Center (Center) business plan calls for programs to be net neutral either by corporate contributions, individual donors or sponsorships if the program is not projected to reach that threshold with ticket sales alone.”

I am pretty sure that KellyAnn Conway is coaching TrumpCo. and the far right wing media on the pivot.

That you take whatever is true and then turn it 180 degrees.

And he is now again saying it out loud. He doesn't think the US should have mid-terms in an interview with Reuters.

Pay attention US Americans. This is their plan.

This is a measure of how fucked up everything is:

Three GoFundMe accounts.
  1. Renee Good - an account was set up for the wife and family of Renee Good who was shot in the face and murdered by an ICE agent. It raised $1.5 million before being closed for further donations.
  2. Jonathan Ross - the guy who murdered Renee Good is getting a big reward. His account has $744,508.
  3. TJ Tabula - the autoworker who called Trump a "pedophile protector" to his face. After Trump mouthed "fuck you" and stuck out his middle finger at Tabula, it was Tabula who got suspended by his job. He's getting a hefty reward for 2 words. His two fundraisers have raised $811,010.

Fascism is expensive.

‘Department of War’ rebrand could cost up to $125 million, CBO says

The Trump administration’s effort to rename the Department of Defense as the Department of War could cost taxpayers anywhere from $10 million to $125 million, according to an analysis released by the Congressional Budget Office on Wednesday.

The 11-page report said a “modest implementation” of the name change would cost about $10 million. But that figure could rise up to $125 million if the new moniker were adopted “broadly and rapidly” across the department.

The congressional office noted the estimate is “uncertain” because the Pentagon “has not provided information” about how it plans to carry out the executive order signed by President Donald Trump in September.
