Rise of Fascism in the United States [SPLIT]

I never thought we'd see the day when the billionaires sat in the front row of an inauguration. Or the richest man in the world would have an office in the White House. Or that he would be nakedly interfering in the politics of Great Britain. Or that Congress would attempt to get Trump's full agenda passed through reconciliation to avoid votes. Or that the President would be given immunity for all acts by the Supreme Court. Or that Roe would fall.

But here we are.

I wouldn't doubt for a minute that Trump can and would order the takeover of Panama and that a weak and feckless Congress, like they did with the invasion of Iraq, would defer once the war drums start beating in the media because MAGAts get fired up after a pretextual 'attack' on US interests.

It isn't just Trump this time around. The US will have a ketamine raddled megalomaniac as Trump whisperer.

Just going to add that my family watched the rise of the NAZIs and Hitler through the 30's from northern Holland. They would agree that this is where we are now.
 
I saw Hillary there looking rather weary and haggard watching the supposed Nazi rise to power. She on many occasions in the past said he was a fascist and that he belonged in jail. If they really believed it, why did the Democrats attend at all?

Good question...but to not attend as past presidents is a capitulation to normalizing fear of him.

I certainly agreed with Michelle Obama's decision to not attend and with all the living past presidents to give the Inaugural lunch a hard pass, but Democrats are desperate to hang onto the myth of the optics of peaceful transfer of power as being a central tenet of America's ascendancy over the failures of European failures to do this.

She is also there because she lives in his head rent free and her presence triggers him.
 
And I think that from our history lessons, most people (maybe outside of the US) are aware of this, including the prolonged run-up to Americans entering WWII because it was sheltering companies like Bayer and of course...there was Henry Ford.

And if Japan hadn't invaded, I often think that The US would have been delighted to make peace with Hitler and overlook that whole holocaust thing.

The problem now is that we do know and should know the sins of the past and what the outcomes were. And by shrugging them off as 'well we are always like this'...it really does mean that they are doomed to be repeated. And that there really is no hope for any justice or ascendancy of humanity. It is all just cynical window dressing.

Frankly, I really don't know what to do if Americans become like the Germans of the 30's...complacent. fearful. complicit. and then whining about how they 'didn't know'.

All I know is that the rest of the world doesn't deserve this all over again. And eventually, the imperialist and fascist fantasies of the Americans will definitely crash on the shoals of the rrrZZZian and Chinese imperialism. And this time, if the US is one of the aggressors, it may not end well for the US.

America's government needs to burn down figuratively.

Trump's excesses are probably just what the doctor ordered. After all, he got in because the two parties have colluded to keep sucking at the corporate teat while throwing distractions like border and abortion and evolution and bathrooms into the ring to keep the morons on both sides voting but getting jack shit for our pains.

Let Trump go too far. Let chaos run. Let the populace change their minds, or stop professing liberty, equality, and the pursuit of happiness.

If we're mean and ugly, let us fall. If we're better than this, let us prove it, else cede the future to China, to Germany, to the deserving.

The answer is not in the Democrats. They bear just as much responsibility as the GOP in getting us to the point we are where Trump was allowed back in.

Education has declined a great deal in my life time, and much of that has been under Democratic funding and policies.

Income disparity has gotten much worse.

Banks, realtors, investment houses, and defense have all enjoyed major bailouts after rolling the dice with our wealth and losing.

Both Democrats and Republicans have gerrymandered.

Both Democrats and Republicans have tried to demonize the opposition rather than cooperate to pass good legislation.

Both have done little to push back against the corruption and pandering to lobbyists.

Let it burn, and let the next thing come.

It went from being a Republic to a corrupt Imperial fascist thugocracy based on the literal rape, plunder and subjugation of other countries. Their wealth and enslavement of millions built Rome.

If this is the model that Americans now envision to replace a democracy that has been slowly drifting into autocracy for many years, then the high moral ground of 'The Shining City on the Hill' has always just been a lie.

The rest of the world don't really care how you have ruined your own country. But maybe keep it inside your own house.

Today, the CDC did not post a weekly update to its figures tracking how many Americans have gotten this season's COVID-19 and influenza vaccines.

I think that people who read a lot of information from different sources and understand history know how this game works. The best way to control people is through a flood of nisinformation and lies. Trump does it everyday and now we see megalomaniacs like Musk take up the charge while what used to be actual journalism aids the liars by either both sidsing everything or avoiding coming out and telling their readers or listeners when someone is just fucking lying.

Journalists and others who fled RRRzzzia have been telling Americans for years how the post Soviet regime regained autocratic control by using the same KGB misinformation tactics under Putin.

And American right wingers have done the same thing over the last century as well on many occasions to justify witch hunts, invasions, wars etc.
