Rise of Fascism in the United States [SPLIT]

4. Oppose any initiatives or institutions that are racially, ethnically, or religiously harmonious.
5. Disdain for human rights while seeking purity and cleansing for those they define as part of the nation.

Florida Governor and white go-go boots enthusiast Ron DeSantis destroyed a Pulse shooting memorial in Orlando in the middle of the night without notifying the mayor of Orlando or any local officials. The Orlando Sentinel is suing him to get the records.

As a follow-up to this...the US is withdawing from 66 organizations, a number of which are promoting social harmony and causes.

It is telling that a number of the organizations also focussed on women and children.

But a thugocracy doesn't care about this.

Thom Tillis is retiring.

Suddenly he is finding his balls and acting and speaking out.

How despicable that he hasn't done so before because he loved the TrumpCo. agenda so much.

Suddenly he wants to play the hero.

BOTH of Trump's vetoes have been UPHELD as Republicans rush to his defense, despite unanimously voting on the bills previously.

The flood of lies was to be expected but even the rest of the world is taking notice.

They have done this each time one of their Gestapo agents has murdered someone; in prior cases they have been forced to recant.

This is all theatre for the 37% who support TrumpCo.

Somehow, I think that the fed gov will get away with this one after all the noise dies down and there is no more politcal gain to be had. The good guys will be stymied because the ability of the State Gov
to charge a fed officer is so restricted as to be impossible (vis Ruby Ridge).

Again, as this plays out around the world, particularly in other western countries, the desire to visit the US or do any business at all with Americans is diminishing with each new act of state terror.

Well...at least another power play by TrumpCo. to appoint US attorneys has failed. This is the fifth to fall.

At some point, Trump will either give up or figure out how to drag this to an SC that will carve out an exception for his regime.

There's something like 90 US Justice Districts, This means that at least 5% of the US Attorneys in 2025 were serving illegally. In addition, the districts where the 5 US Attorneys in question were serving illegally are some of the most important and critical districts in the justice system: New York, Virginia, District of Columbia and New Jersey.

Do these people think they will have a legal career when this chaos comes to an end? Attorneys are notoriously gossipy and cliquey. These attorneys are now damaged goods and are likely going to be relegated back to the ambulance-chasing practices where they came from... kind of like Jenna Ellis!

I also called this some months ago.

The ballroom was just pretext. Trump wants an outsized palace for an imperial USA.

This one might be a bit more difficult to pull off because of the nature of the west wing, but as they get rid of Congress and centralize all power at Pennsylvania Ave., there will be a need for the kind of imperial office like Hitler had built and the endless rowns of office to house the flunkies running the empire.

He's so unoriginal.

Erdoğan did it bigger and better.

Atatürk left a public park in Ankara, the Atatürk Orman Çiftliği ve Hayvanat Bahçesi (AOÇ), for the enjoyment of the people of Turkey. The park had public spaces, a forest, a zoo and entertainment complexes.

Erdoğan decided that he needed a bigger Presidential residence. He also decided that the AOÇ was where he should built his palace. He razed the forest and destroyed most of the public spaces named for Atatürk. Think "Kennedy" when you see "Atatürk".

This is the original modest residence for the leader of Turkey.

This is Erdoğan's new residence.

Be happy that Trump never visited Ankara and that he hasn't razed the National Mall and the Lincoln Memorial to build himself a new palace.

There's no question bu tht he is following Erdogan's playbook.

This is the guy who is looking to be the king of the world and is insanely jealous of the Brits, the French and the Rus...who all have fabulous palaces to show for their Empire days.

Of course the moderns like Erdogan or Kim don't do it very well. Their piles are dull, lifeless vast office complexes designed to keep their friends close and enemies closer.

Yesterday, the VP gave a press conference in which he said that the woman who was shot in Minneapolis was a terrorist who deserved to be murdered and that it was her own fault.

He lied. Repeatedly. He is part of an Administration headed by a man who has normalized lying. Vance has fully embraced fascism and his press conference demonstrated 5 of the key traits of a fascism.

2. Political power derived from questioning reality, endorsing myth and rage, and promoting lies.
Appearing in the White House briefing room, the vice president's voice rose as he decried what he called the "corporate media" for its coverage.

"This was an attack on law and order. This was an attack on the American people," said Vance, who maintained it has not been portrayed that way by many journalists.
According to Vance, the problem is not an incompetent officer who was part of a police action on the streets of America. The problem is that the media is the enemy of the people.

5. Disdain for human rights while seeking purity and cleansing for those they define as part of the nation.
Vance said the ICE officer was clearly justified in shooting Good and he was not worried about prejudging an investigation that is just getting underway.
Vance, pushing another fascist trope, said that the problem is that the unarmed woman, who was exercising her Constitutional rights to free speech and protest, was part of a left wing conspiracy against "law and order". The leftists are also "the enemy of the people".

6. Identification of “enemies”/scapegoats as a unifying cause. Imprison and/or murder opposition and minority group leaders.
10. Obsession with national security, crime and punishment, and fostering a sense of the nation under attack.

"The way that the media, by and large, has reported this story has been an absolute disgrace," he added. "And it puts our law enforcement officers at risk every single day."

Vance said the ICE officer was clearly justified in shooting Good and he was not worried about prejudging an investigation that is just getting underway.

"What you see is what you get in this case," Vance said, downplaying ambiguity about the circumstances that led to the shooting.

The officer was clearly acting in self-defense, Vance said. He framed Good as "a victim of left-wing ideology" who was spurred by an alleged network of politically motivated groups to interfere with law enforcement.

"I can believe that her death is a tragedy while also recognizing that it is a tragedy of her own making," Vance said.
Vance is saying, with absolutely no evidence, that murdering Mrs Good was justified (#6) because she was a leftist (#6) and an "enemy of the people" (#10). By impeding ICE officers who were rounding up people and abducting them off the streets of Minneapolis (#10), Mrs Good deserved to get shot in the face and killed.

14. Rampant cronyism and corruption. Loyalty to the leader is paramount and often more important than competence.
It used to be that "the cover-up is worse than the crime". Under Trump and the Trumpian Republican Party, the cover-up is the point. These are not politicians reciting talking points. These are Republicans whose sole purpose is to lie, cover-up the rampant corruption and incompetence of Trump's Administration and to repeatedly dispense pablum that begins with the phrase, "Thanks to this President...".

Trump doesn't need Republicans in Congress to pass legislation. He needs them to be propagandists and to lie to cover-up what Trump's Administration is doing.

Trump once said that he could shoot someone on 5th Avenue and he would get away with it.

Now, Trump could shoot someone on 5th Avenue and the White House Press Office would stand at the podium of the White House Press Room and praise Trump for being a "strong President". Incompetent goons like JD Vance would say that Trump was the "best shooter in the world" and that he shot someone "to keep America safe". Co-conspirators like Vance and Mike Johnson would attack the media as the "enemy of the people", because the media had dared to ask why it was okay for the President to shoot someone.

If you're one of the 18 million registered voters in the State of Texas, your State just doxxed you.

Texas hands over complete list of registered voters to Trump administration
The Justice Department has asked states for their voter rolls with an eye toward purging ineligible voters. Democrats say sharing the data could violate federal election law.

Texas officials have turned over the state’s voter roll to the U.S. Justice Department, according to a spokesperson for the Texas Secretary of State’s Office, complying with the Trump administration’s demands for access to data on millions of voters across the country.

The Justice Department last fall began asking all 50 states for their voter rolls — massive lists containing significant identifying information on every registered voter in each state — and other election-related data. The Justice Department has said the effort is central to its mission of enforcing election law requiring states to regularly maintain voter lists by searching for and removing ineligible voters.

Alicia Pierce, a spokesperson for the Texas Secretary of State’s Office, told Votebeat and The Texas Tribune that the state had sent its voter roll, which includes information on the approximately 18.4 million voters registered in Texas, to the Justice Department on Dec. 23.
