Rosie O'Donnell and Kelly Rippa Get Into It On The View

Looked to me like Ripa was being kind of rude to Aiken, but I don't watch the show, maybe she's always a camera hog. But her, "I know where that hand's been, honey" did have a whiff of homophobia about it, and would she have said that to Brad Pitt?

I also thought Ripa telling O'Donnell "not everything's homophobic" was a revealing thing to say. O'Donnell very rarely says something is homophobic so clearly that's out of Ripa's own thought process. Seemed to me a homophobic thing to say.

And it IS weird that Rosie O'Donnell seems to have outed Clay Aiken without knowing it.

My guess is that in the "heat" of the discussion, Kelly mis-spoke here and probably meant something more like "not everything is homosexually related". The homophobic word had already been thrown out there and Kelly...not one who debates social issues...mis-spoke. I've watched both shows fairly regularly and have never seen Kelly make any kind of homophobic remark or innuendo. Rosie makes references almost daily to being lesbian and talks about homosexual issues in general...that's one of the views she brings to the table...probably what Kelly was referring to.

Clay has no Right to put his hands on her, I hate touchy feely people who invade my personal space.

Good old USA, This is really important. Forget about Iraq, Darfur HIV in Africa, and let' s discuss this nonsense, It WILL PROBABLY BE A BREAKING NEWS story on CNN any minute now

Amen.

1. It's Kelly's show and he's a guest. How dare he put his hands on her mouth! If it were me I'd have straightend his ass out on national television.

2. Rosie's just a fat, paranoid bitch! I'm sure Clay's ecstatic that he's been outed on national television (as if we didn't know already, anyhow).

Is it me or is confidentiality anethema to gay people?

Iraq, I understand, but why are the others America's problem?

Lot of chatter in this thread here, i don't think either Rosie or Kelly are horrible people, as a lot of posts have made clear their poster's beleive. I just think that Rosie made a mountain out of a mole-hill, and got all homo-righteous on Kelly when she didn't deserve it.

Like i've said, Clay was totally out of line. He was rude to her throughout the whole show. And i think Rosie was so caught up in gay-defense, that she forgot the fact that she's basically outing Clay as she speaks, and affirming his actions on Live! as ok, which they weren't. I've never seen Kelly Ripa to have a homophobic gene in her body, and for Rosie to call her comment homophobic, well that was just too much, i'd have gotten defensive too.

But again, Kelly's not obnoxious, Rosie's not a bitch, but i think she was in the wrong here. But anyways, it was her "view" and kelly got her view out on the show too. But i still have to give a [-X to Rosie for this one.

I feel Kelly was justified in her actions.
What convinced me was when one of the ladies asked "Would Clay have put his hand over Regis' mouth?". I'm certain he wouldn't have, therefore it was a personal affront to Kelly.

No, it's implying Kelly is less of a host or persona than Regis.
They are co-hosts, one should not be subjected to more rudeness or disrespect than the other.
Clay was a guest co-host and should have followed the permanent hosts lead. It wasn't the Clay Aiken Show.

Of course there's no proof.
Most of this tape is composed of members opinions and I stated mine. Even his alleged sexuality is an opinion.
I think Clay also screwed up an excellent opportunity for expanding his venues from just singing.
Even without the Kelly incident, his facial expressions, hand gestures and mannerisms made me feel that he's as gay as a picnic basket.

I just watch the clips but I did not see the shows live. But I've read this thread comments. Lots of previous hate for rosie, obviously.
Yeah that's weird -- Rosie O'Donnell has come up before and there's a lot of hate directed at her. I don't get it. Not sure what she's done to earn that, except maybe that haircut a few years ago.

What do you guys think of Andy's thoughts? I think he sees the big picture here.

Thanks for posting that link. Kelly Ripa talking with Regis about it the next day was interesting. I think she made much more out of a single moment than it deserved. I don't know -- I think she just doesn't like Clay Aiken and so a minor faux pas became an act of "hostility" according to her. I agree with Regis (that's a line I thought I'd never write!), I don't think Aiken was hostile, I think he was nervous doing the show for the first time.

Anyway, what's a better day's diversion than a superficial celebrity feud between two B-list celebs and an A-lister who amped it from a squabble to outing a closeted queen? I bet Kathy Griffin feels really left out!

My guess is that Rosie was being forward and loud-mouthed about Not-Much and did it to make "good-TV."

And you off your's?

Your comment is ridiculous 'Effortless_Pro." Why would you be defending Rosie?! It's pretty CLEAR that she was way off guard and "hithere2468" made very good points. Rosie is a great woman and I enjoy watching her, but she was out of line this time.

Rosie is funny but such an over sensitive dyke. she needs to relax.
Well, Rosie O'Donnell had nothing handed to her on a silver platter. She had a crappy childhood, she wasn't good looking and charming, and despite being overweight and an outspoken lesbian, she's very successful.

She's achieving a lot in spite of formidable odds.

She was invited by Barbara Walters to fill one of the most coveted jobs for a woman in television and she made an instant success of it. The View's ratings have soared since Rosie joined it. And even that's not easy to navigate because she has to be sensitive to the other women's feelings.

So she's a sensitive person. Why is being sensitive a bad thing? I think it might be nice if a few more people were sensitive rather than insensitive. I think it's refreshing to see someone willing to speak her mind and stand up for her convictions. Plenty of people "relax" today; I say good for Rosie and her passion.

from what i just saw of the clip, this was a backhanded way for rosie to out clay. poor kelly...i never thought i'd feel bad for her but she was caught up in rosie's agenda here. i love the ballsy way she stood up to rosie who along with clay was way out of line. look at where kelly says clay shook hands with the entire audience before he did that to her...would you want his fucking hands on your mouth, especially after he touched every yahoo there? rosie and clay...two freaks in a pod. go kelly!!!

for god's sake, that right-wing twit haselbeck or whatever her name is was making more sense than rosie.

Calling someone a homophobe is like calling someone a racist. Kelly is NOT a homophobe and Rosie crossed the line, big time. If Clay would have put his hand over my mouth he would have been bitch slapped. Kelly Ripa is a sweetheart and she loves everyone. Kelly was at Madonna's show this summer and really, could you imagine a homophobe at the Madonna concert? Someone called The Confessions Tour "Gay Pride: Extended Mix."

what you don't get to see in that clip is how really kinda rude he was to her throughout the beginning of the show, during the "chat" portion.

Seriously, if he, or anyone i wasn't intimately familiar with and who knew i would not take offense to such an action, did that to me, i'd have seriously used force to take their hand and arm away from me.

In my opinion kelly showed a lot of restraint and professionalism in not doing or saying more about it when it actually happened that day.
