Re: Rosie to possibly host NBC variety show?

TalkinTotheRain.....You are most generous on your assessment of Rosie's show tonight. If I were an advertiser, I would demand my money back tomorrow!!! It stinks!!!

Re: Rosie to possibly host NBC variety show?

Well, it was very much like the stuff she did on her morning show, which I always enjoyed.

But for a pime time variety show in the style of Ed Sullivan, Carol Burnett or Gary Moore, it just didn't work.

Live TV always sounds exciting, but we're not used to seeing flaws/mistakes any more, (which we just accepted in the 50s and 60s,) so it looks very unprofessional. (cf, Liza and Rosie missing their cues on the second verse of "City Lights.")

Also there was way too much going on. Too, too many cameos.

As I said earlier, I just think this genre can't be revived.

(Liza did look fabulous, however, even if she does keep turning more and more into her mother, the older she gets.)

We'll see what Ellen does with her Las Vegas special on Friday.

Re: Rosie to possibly host NBC variety show?

I watched a little bit of the show and was not impressed at all.

Not at all what I expected from Rosie.

Re: Rosie to possibly host NBC variety show?

I want to support Rosie. I really do. She just makes it so damn hard to defend her.

Worst of all, she wasted Kathy Griffin in that stupid Nancy Grace sketch...or whatever you want to call it.

Re: Rosie to possibly host NBC variety show?

This Rosie variety show is a tragedy. LMAO!!!!
Indeed. I couldn't hardly watch, I was so embarrassed for her. I was hoping that it would be a surprise hit. But it was a total flop and bore fest. And the shameless advertising in one of the musical numbers was a disgrace.

Re: Rosie to possibly host NBC variety show?

I hope it gets cancelled!

I think she needs to stop striving for attention and go back to acting! She is such a good actress! Not so much at the funny stuff.

EDIT: I have not seen it, just going off of everyone's opinions and my boyfriends opinion.

Re: Rosie to possibly host NBC variety show?

I couldnt watch it all. Too much talk, not very funny and all over the place. I dont think there will be another one to worry about.

Re: Rosie to possibly host NBC variety show?

You all know this isn't a series, right? It was just a special for tonight. There's nothing to cancel.

Re: Rosie to possibly host NBC variety show?

I watched it and I want Rosie to give me my hour back.

Re: Rosie to possibly host NBC variety show?

I love Rosie, but even as a big Rosie fan, the show seemed misguided and there were points at which they were clearly not prepared. Oh, and Alanis Morissette looked hot.

Re: Rosie to possibly host NBC variety show?

As much as I like and admire Rosie, the show flopped.
It seemed amateurish and even the jokes seemed over rehearsed.
I was hoping it would be successful because there are just too many lame reality shows and we could use something new and fresh.

Re: Rosie to possibly host NBC variety show?

I had it saved on my DVR and had not watched it,I shudda deleted it.

I like Rosie, but how did she managed to take such a great opportunity and turn a live prime time special into such a train wreak.
It was like everyone just showed up with no rehearsal or thought and did what ever came into their head. With her connections you would have thought Rosie could have gotten some premium talent and some gifted writers to put on a memorable show.
Liza was disappointing, Kathy Griffin was better but not much, kinda embarrassed herself, I mean it just went nowhere.
The gifts were the only saving grace

Rosie, what where you thinking??

Re: Rosie to possibly host NBC variety show?

Thanksgiving came a day early 'cause Rosie's show Wed. was a REAL TURKEY!!![-X
Enjoyed Alanis but...how old is she????? Her split from Ryan aged her!!!

There was more shit goin' on than a drag queen getting ready for a show!!!

Wanted more sketch comedy ala Carol Burnett...the queen of variety I.M.O

I don't see it becoming a weekly thing!

Re: Rosie to possibly host NBC variety show?

I'll be interested in hearing if the View girls skewer her show or give it insincere praises. Also, this will give Trump more ammunition saying that everything she does is a disaster. This time, I would have to agree with him.

Re: Rosie has donated $100 million in total

I love Rosie. She's awesome! And this is great. :D

Re: Rosie has donated $100 million in total

Rosie was on Tyra (she is on today also) and Tyra said (paraphrasing) "its been reported that you have donated up to $100 million dollars"
Rosie didnt correct Tyra. Rosie donates as 'anonymous'

If true I think that is great and it seems like something Rosie would do.[/QUOTE

DO THE MATH. Rosie would need to HAVE $100Million before she could donate it. and she never had ANYTHING CLOSE TO THAT. get serious dude. :p :p

Re: Rosie has donated $100 million in total

Some one is gonna have to fill me in... who is Rosie?

I decided to take you up on your task. I did some research came across an article in New York magazine "...in last May’s TV movie Riding the Bus With My Sister; on Broadway, in Fiddler on the Roof, this past winter—but for the most part, she has been conspicuously off the radar. This from someone who had, over two decades, churned out a memoir, a monthly magazine, two books, three Broadway shows, two Christmas albums, and top-grossing movies—A League of Their Own, Sleepless in Seattle, and The Flintstones—three years running. In 2000, O’Donnell hosted the Grammys and the Tonys; she racked up six Emmys for her talk show, for which she was paid more than $25 million a year. Her net worth at the time was estimated at over $100 million." So in 2000 it says her net worth was over $100 million. Plus she turned down a $30 million dollar 3 year contract with ABC to continue at the view. Finally I've seen her house from a boat in Biscayne Bay, and this woman is living large. If she was investing any of that money through the stock runups prior to this past September she could easily of quadrupled that in investments alone if she had a good broker. All I'm saying is that it isn't inconcievable she could have donated that much.

Re: Rosie has donated $100 million in total

a lot of people donate to charity for tax write-off benefits. It doesn't make them better people, or caring people. Just saying...

Rosie has always been about publicity, and trying to get people to sympathize with her. I remember when the news were all talking about her messed up childhood. Who hasn't had a messed up childhood, get over it.

So, she can't talk about her messed up childhood?
