The 14-year old's story is questionable from what I'm gathering but some of the 16-year-olds have been confirmed but his defenders are saying it was okay becuase their parents approved it.

Democracy cannot survive if candidates can be destroyed by unprovable claims of touching 40 years ago—delayed until election. Guilty or not, the people should not allow the claim to control the election. Too much is at steak. Remember, when Clinton was accused of suborning perjury, democrats said “its only sex”. If democrats get a pass, we cannot hold Republicans to a higher standard if our democracy is to survive.
No one is defending pedophilia, but the statute of militating has no doubt run on this after 30 years or whatever. There is a good reason for statutes of limitations. After all these years it is almost impossible to determine the truth with confidence. Memories fade, witnesses die, documents disappear. The defendant is unlikely to remember an alibi or other defensive facts. What were you doing on the date this act is supposed to have occurred? His witnesses may be dead or unable to remember. If someone wants to make such a claim it should be made, in most states, soon after the child reaches majority or never. Since there could be no criminal or civil suit, the same considerations should preclude considering him guilty.

Yeah, and we paid 16 of them to lie about our beloved POTUS. The far Right generates the most ridiculous misinformation. Basically, like POTUS, if they say something completely outrageous, it serves a double purpose. It gains attention, whether negative or not, it is still attention. Also, it diverts the conversation from the real issues.

From a recap of Roy's appearance on Hannity that ran in this morning's NYT. Moore: "I don't remember ever dating any girl without the permission of her mother." When asked if he ever dated teenage girls when he was in his 30's, Moore replies: "Not generally, no." If one gets his head around seating a pedophile Senator for the sake of the Party, does not having a stupid motherfucking pedophile Senator more or less compound the problem? I guess a great journalistic follow-up, might be, "Mr. Justice, do you ever recall molesting teenage girls with their mother's permission?" or, "By not generally, how frequently would you say you did date teenage girls when you were in your 30's? A number will do." Unfortunately, Mr. Hannity must not have picked up on these openings. (Barbara Walters and Oprah, we miss you!) I am sure Roman Polanski's lawyers are watching this with great interest. The concept of parental consent as a viable defense for child molestation is novel. But then, we are talking Alabama.

The Governor of Alabama can push the election date back, if she so chooses. This would give the GOP time to try to convince Moore not to run and come up with another candidate.
