Rufus Wainwright Slams Beyonce's Music

were debating, not talking
in all truth of the matter how many people after being part of this little debate team thing are actually gonna go by his album that's comming
.....I'm not

OK let's just get to the bottom line. Beyonce's music is successful because it's aimed at the lowest common music listener. Since most top 40 music is crap in the first place her music is perfect for it. Mind-numbingly stupid nursery rhymes written for limited-IQ adults. Maybe if she held back and quit releasing a new stupid song every month, she might be tolerable.

Actually I do know who he is.

You ever been sarcastic and made light of someone by saying..." and who the fuck are you? nobody" basically insinuating that someone is insignificant.

That's all my statement was... it was meant in good humor. But regardless... my point stands. Who is he to act as though he is some genius and above someone else musically? Beyonce has made more contributions to music than he will EVER make in his entire life. I think most knowledgeable music fans can attest to that.

It's not even really an opinion.

That's a fact.

Goodnight
ok Beyonce made no contributions to music. not in her solo career IMO. her solo career is the same as everyone of those others solo careers. she is nothing special at all.

if you actually listen to his music, you'd see he tries some pretty interesting stuff in his songs. if he was mainstream, than music would probably sound a little bit better than what it is now.

But he'll never be mainstream since that is not what sells.

Okay, I'll add my two cents...not sure why; the art vs. commerce argument is NEVER going to bet settled.

People are saying "who is Rufus Wainright" and "what right does he have to say...". Well, he was asked. Someone thought he was worthy of an interview, they asked the question, he answered. He didn't say he doesn't think Beyonce is talented, he said he's tired of her.

I'm sure Rufus Wainright wouldn't turn down more album sales, but he's not willing to compromise his music to do it. For that, I applaud him. For the record a "nobody" isn't going to sell out Carnegie Hall and be asked to come back for a repeat performance.

Like someone else pointed out, some people listen to music for entertainment, some look at music as an art-form. There's room for both (I'm sure there are people who listen to music for other reasons, too...that's fine as well). Rufus Wainright is more cerebral, Beyonce is flashier. Rufus Wainright has grown weary of the flashy. Well, if he were alive today, what do you think Earnest Hemingway would think of Nora Roberts?

My main point is (and I do have one) is, as hard as it is to believe, creating smart and important music is more important to some people than selling millions of records.

For the record: I'm not a huge Rufus Wainright fan...he's okay. I can't stand Beyonce's voice, but I do like Irreplaceable and wish Whitney Houston had recorded it in her hey-day:(

...or it could mean that she herself wrote most of them. Unless someone was
there during the songwriting sessions, or has some kind of inside information,
suggesting that she merely "helped" with a couple of words is ignorant.

Actually, standard contracts have song-writers listed in order based on their contribution to the song. If there are five people listed (why the hell would it take five people to write a song!!!), the last one listed probably contributed the least.

She could have negotiated a different contract, but it at least gives us an educated guess.

I dun like Beyonce, all the songs she performed, I just can stand for less than 5 songs, and the most remarkable song is Irreplaceable ... others I felt like trash. And for her dance, she dances like a whole, a wild one, just like those undeveloped alp. Her vocals also, strong but wild like nothing, and I easily get fed up wit her

Vocals I would consider Christina Aguilera or Kelly Clarkson
Dance moves, I love Britney Spears , she's the hottest thing I ever seen

"Dance moves, I love Britney Spears , she's the hottest thing I ever seen"

then you have not seen her lately
as in being bald, lip singing songs in shows, and last album bombed
not exactly the hottest thing anymore

Which album would that be?

At the end of the day though, you have to be ok with the fact that you're either contributing something beautiful and significant to the world or just trying to get rich. I think that being art-consciencous makes you a much better person. But that's just me. At some point, Beyonce had to decide if she wanted the record label and manager to make all of her choices, or go it alone and be her own machine. And she chose the easy way. The rich and fabulous way. But the art-unconscious way.

But he'll never be mainstream since that is not what sells.
actually he sells quite well in Europe. he doesnt sell well in America is what you mean, but he still makes some good change in America.

beyonce is annoying as hell. she copies everyone, jennifer lopez, kylie minogue, u name it! beyonce has copied them all! Her "Get Me Bodied" performance at the BET Awards was purely a rip off from Kylie's fever tour performance...

lol Beyonce is the shit now album is doing great why cant people just appreciate that and live that girl alone lol

I swear she has more rumors/ bad comments posted on blogs/forums then songs

Boy, you are as about as simple as a box of Minute Rice if you think Beyonce has made major contributions to music. Why don't you as Angela Beyince? She is the real writer of most of Beyonce's songs.

I love how the world has turned into a place, where success is only measured by numbers.

I can't believe someone said "Beyonce is better than Rufus Wainwright because she sold more records." (in a nutshell).

It's that kind of attitude about music (and other things) that keep the bullshit in full effect.

Very true.
