Russian Invasion of Ukraine

I'd love to see Ukrainian drones drop paint bombs on the parade, using the colors from their flag. It would send the message "Nowhere is safe" but also "We're not the enemies of the Russian people".

That's actually a really good idea.

Or leaflets.

As expected, Putin has refused to agree to a ceasefire.

He believes he still has the strength to continue to seize more territory and that he can carry out a summer campaign.

Europe has warned that if rrrZZZia refused the ceasefire asa pretext to peace talks, they will impose sweeping new sanctions and
supply deadlier arms to Unkraine.

Now it sounds like the Kremlin has come to its senses (don't trust them) and agree to talks in Istanbul.

But mark my words.

They will violate the ceasefire, blame Ukraine for it and then go back to missile barrages and new assaults they have used the time to organize.

What I have said from the outset.

rrrzzxianz are programmed to think of Ukraine as theirs. It is all a holdover from the days of the Romanovs and the Soviets.

As long as it doesn't interfere with the western rrrrzshianz relative comfort and daily life...they don't care how many vatniks from the ethnic areas die.

Well no...they appear to be trying to outpace Europe and the backers of Ukraine to avoid having to respond the the deadline.

If Europe agrees, once again they will have allowed Putin to set the agenda.

Enough. Is. Enough.\

So who is Trump siding with today??????????????

Everyone? That makes no sense. What exactly is he trying to say? Does HE know?

Now that Zelenskyy has thrown down the gauntlet of face-to-face, Putin will refuse, as he WILL NOT recognize Zelenskyy as the legitimate representative of Ukraine. It goes against all the propaganda Russia has spewed.

Zelenskyy is playing the optics well. If Putin refuses, Zelenskyy will be standing there in Turkey, a visual for Trump and the world, making it that much more difficult for Hegseth, Vance, Rubio, and Trump to claim Ukraine is reticent.

Because Russia will not recognize Ukraine's government, just as Iran will not recognize Israel, the parallels are going to be embarrassing.

They should have been specific, like: don't talk, and Ukriane gets 100 more MBTs, 200 more APCs, 40 more F-16s.

No specifics: it should be something like "For every hour that goes by when Putin does not agree (to talks in a specified neutral place) Ukraine gets two more Abrams MBTs" or something. General statements just play to Putin's game, kinda like Schumer's "strong questions". Forget the talk, tie actions to actions.

Oh -- and if Putin does sit down, present the map of Ukraine's 1918 borders as the starting position.

On the news the bobbleheads were saying that Putin had today to agree or Europe will sanction.

We'll see if that happens.

Putin has tried to change the narrative with his proposal of direct talks in Turkey.

Trump stuck his stupid little dick in there (as usual) and dropped the demand for a ceasefire, instead telling Ukraine that they had to meet with Putin.

Zelensky has called the bluff and said he will be in Turkey to meet.

Now watch Putin come up with a reason why rrrZZia will not.

Or if they do...to deliver a refusal to a ceasefire with the hope of extending and frezzing the conflict.

Here it is.

Russia has until midnight Monday to abide by a 30-day ceasefire in its war against Ukraine or face a new round of sanctions, Germany has said...

I don't think Putin CAN end the war. Russian dictators go on "permanent vacation" over that kind of fuck up.

Maybe if a ceasefire would right the Russian economy, that might change things, but that ship has sailed.

I recall a high school friend saying that the Vatican should supply translators since they had a large number of multilingual priests.
Probably bad optics since the Vatican would receive props for it, and it would have the appearance of unfairness if Buddhists, Jews, Muslims, etc., did not have an equal crack at supplying.

But, it's unimaginable that our State Dept. did not send Russian translators plural, as contingency rather than be dependent upon one, and unforgivable that our negotiator did not insist on using our own.
