Sarah Palin Resigns July 26

… This makes me wonder if Mr. Blumenthal simply corrected a minor factual error, as many writers must do on occasion.

Perhaps he had more than 15 minutes to do so. An advantage posters on JUB do not have. :-)

In any event, I see no reason why this "typo" would be sufficient grounds to question the straightness of Mr. Blumenthal's other facts.

I observe that the “typo” has been corrected. Note that Jubbers can correct similar problems in their posts (after the edit time has expired) by using the Report Post link, or otherwise contacting a mod to request a late edit.

It may be interesting to note that when Governor Palin resigned from her position as Chairwoman of the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission, she presented that action as an outcome from her disagreement with the confidentiality requirements imposed by the state’s executive branch ethics law. She objected to how that law led to a withholding of information from the Alaskan people with regard to an alleged conflict of interest by fellow commission member Randy Ruedrich. She felt that Alaskans should have a right to know how Mr. Ruedrich had engendered a conflict of interest by raising contributions from within the industry his role as commissioner regulated. (He was also Chairman of the Alaska GOP). After leaving the Commission, she filed complaints against Ruedrich (who had already resigned from the Commission) and the state’s attorney general.

Two years later, she was governor of the state. At that time, her reputation of intolerance for political corruption constituted a significant component of her appeal.

Good to know. Do such edited posts bear an indication that they have been edited?

The most interesting note that I take from this info is that "I quit" Gov. Palin quit her last job as well ... and blamed other people for her decision to quit.

snip ....

And two and half years after her election as Gov. in 2006, "her reputation of intolerance for political corruption" is subject to reconsideration.

Yes. Any modification to a member post [by a moderator] should include an explanation of the edit, even if the change is requested by the OP.

That’s a reasonable observation.

I live here and best I can gather, recent campaign email revelations were just straw that broke camels back. Another rumor is new baby needs more attention so 'family' is going to be the reason.

Stay tuned I am sure it will be entertaining. <sigh>

Only bright spot of her continuing to the 2012 campaign is that it guarantees the Republicans won't win. Sorry, just trying to find a bright spot to the embarrassment over our Governor. :)

Don't be embarrassed. Look at what we have had.:grrr:

Back during the primaries I checked out a link for a story on the girl's boyfriend. For some reason I can't remember his name. But I just went back to it and found this. Check it out.

*******************************UPDATES
Okay, I’ve now been able to get independent information from multiple sources that all of this precedes what are said to be possible federal indictments against Palin, concerning an embezzlement scandal related to the building of Palin’s house and the Wasilla Sports Complex built during her tenure. Both structures, it is said, feature the “same windows, same wood, same products.” Federal investigators have been looking into this for some time, and indictments could be imminent, according to the Alaska sources. From Brad Blog

It's an update to the first story, scroll down to it.
What you say could be very true. Hope so anyway.

Gov. Palin's attorney, Thomas Van Flein, is now warning the major news media that there will be severe consequences to those that print and republish false statements:

Personally, I am very cautious about believing everything that is from a blog as it is usually slanted to one direction or the other. I hope that this does not get dragged out too long and we can just move on with the country's business.

About that in red. I think the link I quoted is from a group in Wasilla. I could be mistaken but it is people that are pissed at Palin for the Sports Arena.
Looks like she is afraid of what may be put in print.

not sure how quitting is going to help her politically

doesn't give me the warm and fuzzies

hard to believe 45% of republicans view her as the best potential repub candidate in 2012

seems to me that she is a perfect example of checking under the hood to see what's there

but the demonization of her is beyond the pale

undeserved

the blogger shouldn't be a guest on keith blo's show - she is a lazy "journalist"

really lame how the 2 of them did a "comedy" skit tonight each poking fun (not funny) of palin and the blogger did the victim routine "my first amendment rights"

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Finally decided to visit this thread....

Her resignation pretty much killed her political career and any hopes of her ever being elected for a higher position. Why would she do it now that she has less than two years left before the end of her term? Time did say that her rambling speech seemed to be hinting that she was going to be "working for all Americans, not just Alaskans." So I'm thinking... maybe she plans to resume her career in media?

I've read five different pieces about this, and the only one viewing it favorably was on One News Now, where she may as well be right up there with the Virgin Mary as an idol.

Her basketball analogy is way off. How can a player pass the ball to another when the player is walking off the court? Alaska must have weird basketball rules.

That's what comes from playing on ice, where you can see Russia when you go in for a lay-up. :p

I don't think this has been brought up already, if it has then pardon me, but does anyone think Palin quit so she can make a run for the senate? This was brought up on another website and I remember rumors floating around earlier this year that she might challenge the current Republican incumbent for the spot. If she does run for senate I honestly think it would be a good idea for her, then if she wins, she could turn that around into a presidential run in 2012, where then she'll be demolished.

I wondered about that myself. It's the only strategy I can think of that could actually help her chances in a run for president.

Personally, if she does a run for pres, I think all her opponents would have to do is run clips from her press conference... she looked like a blithering idiot.

^ I saw that. I thought she was actually better in that than in the press conference.

Interesting - I have not seen much from her, but I thought that, too. Just a bit too defendant, but a lot more natural. Despite the ultra-artificial "hey let's do a interview while salmon fishing" set-up

I wonder, how did Rev. Fred Phelps poll? Seems to me he's the best Republican candidate for the 2012 nod -- he best represents current Republican values.

i know u must be bored in teensy weensy RI - waaaaaaaaaay too much time on your hands

thus ...................... this ;)

republican "values" as i see it moving forward will go something like this

STOP SPENDING SO MUCH MONEY
STOP PUTTING THE GOVT. IN CHARGE OF SO MANY THINGS - like auto makers and banks
STOP CREATING A DYNAMIC THAT WILL LEAD TO INFLATION + A WORSE ECONOMY

at this rate, Pres. Obama is going to make Americans wish Georgie Porgie was back in office ...........

well maybe not

but it is making them wonder if he's got the stuff

has he got the stuff?

as for Sarah ..................... she can make her millions - i don't begrudge her - IMO she is NOT a serious candidate for national office - doesn't seem to know enough

kinda like the other guy

Where are the steam vents? Aren't there any lights on after dark? You're going to be an alcoholic by February if you stay up there.

It does look beautiful, very idyllic. I'm addicted to the urban life, but I understand how someone (more or less) stable than myself might enjoy the small town country life. There are certainly worse places to have a mid-life crisis.

If you drive like you post you will no doubt run over a few people in the next year. Best of luck.

:rotflmao: Only if they're Republican!

Enjoy, Alfie - it looks like a beautiful part of the world.
