It was simplistic and almost deceptive with the notion that she's going to rally the Senators and they'll get together and play twister, pound back jello shots, watch Norbit and then settle down and draw out some policies that present a solid compromise from both sides.

The Vice President is not in charge of the Senate! He/she has no vote except when there is a 50-50 tie. He/she doesn't work with the Senators on legislation, doesn't chair committees or sit in or on committees. Thats what she said that was completely wrong!

I personally believe....that....uh...some Alaskan governors out there in our nation...don't..have maps...and so I believe that our education system over here in the US...everywhere like such as...should help the US....I mean...should help our Alaskan governors...so we will be able to build up our future for our children.

The Vice-President of the United States is President of the Senate. Palin's characterization is reasonable and accurate.

I won't say you're an idiot for not knowing that under the U.S. Constitution the VP is President of the Senate; maybe they don't teach it in provincial Canadian schools.

She was answering a question from a third grader. The interviewer gave her the question, telling her they'd been trying to engage grade schoolers in the past few elections. I think that's a good thing.

Most of us try to keep answers about things like what's a Vice President's job simple when answering children's questions.

You need to read the Constitution. The VP is in place to become President if the President can no longer complete his term. Or to vote to break a tie. He does not meet with other Senators to make policy changes.

The United States Constitution doesn't designate the Vice President as President of the Senate as "just a title." The framers of our Constitution did not hand out pointless titles for funzies; they were serious minded intellectuals who structured and wrote our Constitution with precision and care. "President" is not a meaningless word plucked at random; our Founding Fathers chose the same word to apply to the highest office in our land.

I know our Constitution and I know enough history of our Senate and Vice Presidents to know the Vice President can and has worked with the Senate.

The VP doesn't and can't go into the Senate and decide that she's gonna roll up her sleeves and get all Mavericky.

The Vice President CAN go into the Senate and try to work with them to advance the President's agenda. The VP isn't allowed to head committees (separation of powers) but he/she absolutely can work with the Senate.

She answered that queston like a teacher or mother. She was speaking to a child.
