Sarah Palin still doesn't know what the VP does.

Re: Sarah Palin still doesn't know what the VP doe

Oh alright. If you think that she's gonna be in there every day going around and checking everyone's homework... you go ahead and think that.

It's not like she's ever going to see the inside of the building, is it?

It's not a question of her being there, the point is that apparently she has a better understanding of just what the office of Vice President does than you do or Keith Olberman does for that matter.

I'm not the one who made this thread to belittle someone who was infact correct in her statment.

Re: Sarah Palin still doesn't know what the VP doe

Actually.. you are the one who keeps avoiding what I've said all along.. many times.

Call her the President of the Senate, the Queen of Uranus...

The VP is not "in charge" of the Senate. And no amount of you saying "yeah, but.." is going to change that...|

So... is the U. S. President not "in charge of" the U.S.?

Back when I worked for Bedfellow.com we had a model apply whose name was Wrong Wang.

Sorry for the hijack.

No, you're not. :p

Up until Tricky Dick Nixon, who we all know was an upright man dedicated to running the government utterly in line with the Constitution, all the Vice President did all day was see the inside of the building.
So... you think everyone up to Nixon had it wrong?

My point is that McCain isn't going to win the election.

Let's hope!
I really don't want to see Obama in the White House, but I can handle that as long as it isn't McCain.

I wasn't asking you, Einstein. :p

Um, well, Einstein would have connected the mavericks with an Einstein-Rosen bridge, not a bungee cord.....

Re: Sarah Palin still doesn't know what the VP doe

And your issue with her response is???

Here's my issue

I believe a potential vice president bares the responsibility in being informed as to all responsibilities he/she would undertake in a new, elected role that is critical to the United States. Some sort of, you know…standard.

Hey, this may be surprising: I put the blame on John McCain. The decision in a running mate, no matter how many were considered (I'd like to use the word vetted, but I don't actually believe it applies in this case), is his.

QUESTION Is Jasun the same person who is soilwork?

That's the point you've been trying to make by ridiculing Sarah Palin?

Interesting way to make that point.

But, taking you at your word, all I can say is duh.

By now it's obvious as water is wet that McCain will lose this election.

Re: Sarah Palin still doesn't know what the VP doe

you really are that thick, aren't you?

She made an ass of herself yet again.. and you're defending her. You can copy and paste words all you want. The VP is not "in charge" of the Senate.

She wasn't correct and neither are you. But you are also making an ass of yourself and a bunch of us are having a giggle at your expense. Please keep it up, my cable is out and I need to be entertained.

Maybe next you can define what "Maverick" means and why one would want two of them?

Wow stomp your feet and demand that "I'm right". Sounds more like a temper tantrum than a thought out argument. Though I can see that there really isn't a case for your argument. I get it, you have to be right otherwise you would look dumber than...well how you want Gov Palin to be.

And you call me thick...so giggle away little schoolgirls.

Re: Sarah Palin still doesn't know what the VP doe

She's at his point only an asset to the Obama campaign.

The good news is that she's at least raised the bar for future VP picks.

No one's going to pick an unknown rabble-rousing ignoramus again without remembering whatever happened to Baby Sarah.

Why do people think this? You think "America will learn its lesson". Perhaps they will, but you'd be surprised by what lessons they end up learning.

According to the left side, the lesson is "don't run someone like Palin again".

To the right, it'll be "when (not if - when) you run Palin again, keep her on the offensive at all times".

If McCain loses, Palin is not going to disappear. Until Palin, McCain was the boring, shrug-worthy, "I guess him" candidate for president. Palin put a face to him, gave the ticket a personality. Yeah, I think she made the ticket look mismatched and rather foolish. But it got the right riled up and ready to go. As such, she served a valuable function for them. She's probably be the number one fundraiser for the Republican party until 2012, where she'll either run as a president or an assumed VP. And if Obama is elected and can't turn things around...well, you might want to bookmark that "Palin in the Oval Office" page now.

Re: Sarah Palin still doesn't know what the VP doe

I introduce you to Lyndon B. Johnson.

Are you claiming that Johnson was forbidden to enter the Senate chambers???

By now it's obvious as water is wet that McCain will lose this election.

As long as that's clear also to the hackers who can get at the voting machines.....

Re: Sarah Palin still doesn't know what the VP doe

On hardball last night Chris Matthews referred to the time Senate Democrats froze out Lyndon Johnson (their former Majority Leader) when he became Vice-Preasident and tried to continue to influence Senate business.

He never returned to his Senate office again except for ceremonial functions.

Re: Sarah Palin still doesn't know what the VP doe

LBJ was a very powerful Senate Majority Leader; in fact he'd always been a powerful member of the Senate as he'd been a powerful member of the House. He was a powerful man, and his power was that he was a strong tough loud vulgar take no prisoners big man. If other ways didn't work he'd get very close to your face, breathe heavily onto you, lean physically into you and essentially bully to get his way. But he was an effective Majority Leader and respected for it.

He did not want to be Vice President, and wanted to hold on to the power and authority he'd had as Majority Leader. He kept his huge office in the Senate and sought to continue to chair the Democratic Conference meetings. Senators voted to let him preside but they didn't want him to continue to set the tone of the Senate and wouldn't let him have the power to do it. So he went to his office at the EOB and did what he could as VP.

But make no mistake: the Vice President of the United States can have an active role with the Senate if he/she wants to, has the President's ok, and has the personality and temperament that makes him/her welcome in the Senate. The Vice President is the President of the Senate and the Constitution doesn't define that as just a ceremonial title. Sarah Palin was correct, no matter how much the peanut gallery pitches a fit and tries to insist the Governor of Alaska is stupid.

Re: Sarah Palin still doesn't know what the VP doe

Sarah Palin was correct, no matter how much the peanut gallery pitches a fit and tries to insist the Governor of Alaska is stupid.

Your answer like hers wouldn't be very highly graded in a class on the Constitution.

Palin's answer may, or may not be, technically correct, but hardly suggests a rooted knowledge of what she's talking about.

More like something someone would say, who not long ago, didn't even know what the Vice President did. LOL.

I always like your posts and this is a good one too, but.......
if in 2012 Palen becomes the candidate for President, who do you think she will choose as her VP. It would have to be someone better than she.
ooooh perish the thought.

She was responding with a 15 second answer to a third grader. It was fine.

Re: Sarah Palin still doesn't know what the VP doe

We all know that if Joe Biden had been hit over the head and said the same thing, Rush Limbaugh would be doing a big where he did this whole "VP 101" class to teach "the Liberals" what the VP does all day.

Oh that's a fun game.

Joe Biden warns us if Obama's elected there'll be an interternational crisis "generated" because Obama's President.

Imagine if Palin had said that. Keith Olbermann and Rachel Maddow would have burst blood vessels with outrage and indignation, heads spinning wildly and smoke shooting from their ears.

whats worse is that McCain believes if he is elected president there will never be an international crisis because he has already been tested so many times. What an invitation he offered. After all he sat in a cockpit once during the Cuban crisis.

Re: Sarah Palin still doesn't know what the VP doe

Out of the same type of curiosity that draws a person to a car wreck, I watched Sean Hannity interview Sarah Palin tonight on Fox. I was expecting Hannity to be slow pitching soft balls to Sarah, but I was wrong. It wasn't slow pitch at all .... it was tee ball. Hannity was practically drooling over her like a love struck teenager. ](*,)
