Saw the midnight showing early Friday and enjoyed it!

THE GOOD
* dialogues
* the original three - Sidney, Dewey, and Gale - were the most impressive, especially Sidney, who kicks MAJOR ass! She is the Head Bitch In Charge!
* the opening was hilarious and gross.
* Jill, Robbie, and Kirby are the most likeable of the new generation.
* Rebecca (Sidney's publicist) is so obnoxious, I loved her.
* the book signing, interrogation, Movie Club meeting, and Stabathon Party scenes.
* the last 15 minutes are gory, shocking, and funny. I jumped a handful of times.
* some scenes/dialouges in photos and trailers aren't in the film, so you'll be thrown off if you're expecting something from a commercial.

THE BAD
* editing
* too many new characters, but not enough development or substance behind most of them. You don't feel bad for those who are killed because everything seems so rushed!
* Charlie didn't make much of an impact.
* the Jenny and Marnie scene could have been extended with more dialogue.
* Jill's mother and Olivia could have had more to do.
* Trevor's role was so irrelevant. Cute guy though.

Best one since the original one. will go see it again. Highly recommended.

I saw this last night and I enjoyed it for the most part.

I thought the opening was pretty clever, but the 'real' opening kill was a bit of a let down.

Some of the newer characters could have been a bit more developed, I didn't really find myself caring for most of them.

Overall I enjoyed it....

I don't understand all the hate that Scream 3 gets.

The ending was good, I especially liked Sidneys line about 'fucking with the originals''......

First rule about remakes, don't fuck with the original.

Classic

How could one like Jill? She was the killer. However, I strongly agree that Olivia and Ms. Roberts should of had more to do and Kirby dying was STUPID!

Well, they didn't show much of Kirby after the two stabbings, so there's still hope! If they ever make Scream 5 and Kirby shows up alive, I won't mind...

i did not see it yet but i heard great reviews about it and Wes Craven is one of my favorite horror director:D, also Neve Campbell and Courtney Cox are awesome in the movies:)... so i'll be sure to check it out maybe this weekend=D

I'm kinda over everyone (not just here, but in practically every Scream 4 thread on the internet) rushing to declare Kirby's fate as "ambiguous." I thought she was the coolest of the new kids too, but usually in a horror movie, when a chick gets stabbed twice, falls face down to the ground and blood is oozing out of her body, she's dead. And if she's not, the movie would have said so later like they did for Dewey in Scream 1 and 2.

I'm not even sure they're going to make another Scream after this one. All of the talks from the TPTB about starting a "new trilogy" seem more like they are...

red herrings to draw attention away from Jill being a killer in Scream 4. Plus, with the "Don't fuck with the original" line from Sidney at the end, and all of the new cast being dead save for Judy, it kind of leaves the storyline nowhere else to go and as if they intended this to be a one movie thing to mock the horror remake trend.

And from a real-life perspective, Scream 1 has horror movie satire, 2 does sequels, 3 does trilogies and 4 covers reboots/remakes. What's left for Scream 5 realistically?

Well if I remember correctly, Kirby was still alive last we saw her, her death was mostly alluded to.

But she was stabbed twice int he stomach just like Sidney and Sid survived so maybe if a sequel is greenlit and her characters reception is positive enough they may be able to fit her in and just say "We found her barely alive but forgot to mention her what with all the craziness going on."

.

Excluding what I took out, I like everything else U said.

I'll see it either tomorrow or the day after.. can't wait!

r u serious? u werent surprised by the identity of the killer?

I personally wasn't because the red herrings were TOO obvious.

By that I mean, Trevor and Judy. The movie made both of them look shady in particular, so I ruled them out immediately. Once Charlie stabbed Kirby, I knew the other killer was Jill and not Trevor because Trevor would have been way too easy. The Scream movies have never made the killer the most obvious suspect... except in Scream 1 and that was only after Billy already had a death scene earlier in the movie.

I was not surprised by Jill being the killer due to the conversation that Sidney had with the killer over the phone about "family cutting the closest" or whatever the exact dialogue was. Jill was also the one that most people would suspect the least as the new "lead girl," so she was high on my radar throughout.

I kind of predicted Charlie and kind of not. When I first saw his picture when he was cast I was like "Yeah, he looks creepy. Could be the killer... but then again, that's probably too obvious."

r u serious? u werent surprised by the identity of the killer? personally i thought it was the most shocking ending out of all 4 films. i agree, that scre4m is the best film since the original but i also think that it had the most shocking ending out of the entire series!

and on top of that, to give us more of a shock, what she does to trevor afterwards was completely unexpected!

overall, i loved the movie. i think it had the perfect balance of horror/comedy. and i especially loved how the characters within the film constantly referred to what was supposed to happen in the film and its cliches.

Really? I guessed who it was with about 20 minutes left in the film.

The second Jill came back down and said Trevor never went upstairs I knew she was in on it. Then when Charlie was just slammed against the door and not stabbed I knew he was the other accomplice. The ending wasn't shocking to me, other than Trevor getting his dick blown off. However, I felt that the ending was incredibly intense. On par with the original.

P.S. Ann Arbor, Michigan was not even remotely passable in my opinion as the original Woodsboro
