'Stunt queen' is the perfect description.

When I saw the pic of Santos (the half black man) flashing the white power sign, I thought that stunt would have blown up all over the media...but there was really very little follow-through...and that is apparently where America is.

Both parties need to do some self-examination.

We're at a point where one party dumps a well-liked Senator because a decade earlier, when he was working as a comedian, he took a picture that was offensive.

Meanwhile, the other party is elevating and promoting pernicious liars and sociopaths like Gaetz, Boebert, MTG and Santos.

Both parties have a problem with their base. However, the consequences of the pandering are not even comparable. The Republican Party has given the keys to the asylum to the inmates.

One of the bills that the Republicans in the House are proposing be sent to the floor of the House would abolish the IRS, eliminate corporate income taxes and impose a VAT tax of 23% on purchases made in the US. The party that ran in 2022 on "out of control inflation" and gasoline being expensive is proposing to add a 23% national sales tax on everything we buy. They've lost their fucking minds.

After a certain point dems need to take responsibility if republicans won't. If they can't protect us from con men and white supremacists they better not count on our votes in 2024. Santos is as much their doing as he is republicans'.

I agree but it's worth noting that Republicans are trying to block Swallwell, Schiff and Ilhan from committee assignments because they don't like them. Leader Jeffries sent out a letter pointing out that Gosar and MTG were blocked from committees last session because they did things like threaten to kill other members of Congress. • Use your family connections to get money from foreign countries: Democrats: hmmm... haw.... what about those 49ers! Republicans: depends on whether their last name is Trump, Kushner or Biden.
• Threaten to kill a member of Congress or the Speaker of the House: Democrats: kick the person off committees, Republicans: give them prime seats on prime committees.
• Create a totally fictional resumé and lie habitually during your campaign for Congress: Democrats: send the person to the Ethics Committee, Republicans: Let the voters fire them.

I'm trying to remain hopeful that things like this make people realize the important of mobilizing and getting involved. We have governors banning CRT and a congressman who we can't even be sure if he's using his real name, simply getting out and voting can change a lot of this. Forgive me if it sounds morbid but there are a lot of skeletons wasting space in government and I think the ship will correct itself as they die off and are replaced by young blood.

I didn't think he was gay until the full scope of his lying was documented. That pattern of lying sounds like a gay man with issues.

That's not proof of course, but I've known that guy before. I suspect we all have.

As I worked in a gay club for 20 years I have talked to thousands and thousands of gay men so I am overly familiar with the vibe and Santos doesn't have it BUT there were three guys I remember who lied about everything all the time and were con men and I had to spend alot of time trying to protect whoever they were conning which was like walking a tightrope. If I was truthful or "mean" to them in front of their target they would play victim and I would have screwed their target over. Like santos they all made my skin crawl and they were as creepy as santos but when you mentioned it I remember I didn't think they were gay either. I thought they didn't have a conscience and would probably use sex with a man or a woman as a tool of manipulation rather than desire.

There is another interview with Santos that he did (in Portuguese) with a Brazilian podcaster where he claims that he was targeted for harassment because he is a Republican. He also claimed that he robbed on 5th Ave in NYC outside of "his office", that the home she shared with his "husband" was robbed and that he was the subject of assassination attempts.
