They want to slash funding for public schools, they want to de-regulate big agribusiness, and they want to subsidize fossil fuel power plants by pretending it's "clean" energy.

All are Tim Dunn and Farris Wilks funded initiatives. They've been pouring millions via Defend Texas Liberty PAC to get those items on the ballot in Texas.

The "let's fund religious indoctrination with tax money" scheme is coming. There was a ballot measure yesterday that claimed to appoint a panel to disburse new money and make a few universities "world-class research" universities which sounded so innocuous - who isn't for more research - it sounded so innocuous, but the people doling out the money are the minions of the usual suspects and I suspect we're in for 4000-year-old flat earth, which is definitely not having any of that liberal climate change, and reasons why natural gas is the wonder fuel of the universe.

The House Ethics Committee released its long-awaited report on the investigation into GOP Rep. George Santos on Thursday, concluding that there is “substantial evidence” that the congressman used campaign funds for personal purposes.

The report said Santos engaged in “knowing and willful violations” with regard to financial disclosure statements filed with the House, and “knowingly caused his campaign committee to file false or incomplete reports with the Federal Election Commission.”

A statement from the committee accompanying the report said the panel unanimously voted to adopt the report and refer the “substantial evidence of potential violations of federal criminal law to the Department of Justice.”

George Santos, who rose to fame as a pathological liar who lied about everything from being a college volleyball star to losing colleagues in the Pulse nightclub shooting and was later charged with stealing donor identities along with numerous other felonies, announced Thursday that he will not run for reelection next year. Can you believe him? Probably as much you can believe anything else he’s ever said!

Santos announced the plan on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, following the release of an incredibly damning report from the House Ethics Committee that claimed it had found evidence of criminal activity, including Santos allegedly spending campaign cash on Botox, Sephora, and OnlyFans.

I also expect that he never expected to win (like his scammer hero, the Orange Supremacist). He was betting on the fact that no one looks at the financial records of a candidate who loses. This was one of his grifts, to run for office, collect a bunch of donor money, pocket it and run. Then he won and the spotlight was on him.

Two things probably need to happen:
  1. Santos ran in 2020 and lost. Hopefully, someone at the DOJ is pulling his campaign finance records for 2020.
  2. The operatives who worked for Santos' 2022 opponents' campaigns should never work on campaigns again. All it would have taken is a Lexis-Nexis search to find out Santos was a fraud.

House Ethics Chairman Michael Guest, a Mississippi Republican, introduced a resolution Friday to expel GOP Rep. George Santos of New York from Congress, one day after the Ethics Committee released a damning report on its investigation into Santos.

Lawmakers are expected to address the resolution at the end of the month once they return from the Thanksgiving holiday.

I'm not sure how this is going to go. They missed the low bar which was to exclude him before he took the oath of office. The bar for expulsion is 2/3 of voting members. In the last vote, 19 members voted present and 22 members did not vote which skews the denominator for the majority calculation (392 voted out of 435 voting members).

The vote was Y-179 and N-213. It would have taken 262 votes to expel him. 31 Democrats voted "No", including Raskin and Lofgren, who said they wanted to wait for the Ethics Committee report. The NY Republican delegation is probably going to have to vote to expel just to maintain face for the 2024 election.
