Where, oh where is our Shep?
 
This is Shep, back from burying himself in detached acts of posting. I have had a challenging late winter and approaching Spring. Ten deaths and burials. The latest was my old stead, Old Horney, he was twenty-six, nearly 70 in horse years, and I had him as my friend and buddy for the last twenty-two years. I have been at loose ends for about a month since it happened.

For me blog writing here has been my way to come to terms with what life has sent my way. So today, I am ready to move past a time of deep and personal grieving. I buried his cremains under our favorite Walnut tree in the back yard.
Friends have disassembled my barn which I donated for young riders, and moved it.

Grief is difficult but if left unattended can create chaos, so I have been tending to it, and my blog is my outward signal that I am prepared to continue my life journey. Together with my partner, after much chatting, I will not be getting another horse. It requires a lot of care, and yet the brushing and talking to a buddy who kept all my secrets and not ratted me out, have made this so very challenging. Now I hope there are many happy adventures in the near future I can share with all you. Thanks for looking in. Thanks for the many hugs.

Sorry folks, I will be fine, but just now I am sort of detached from the recent events. I do not know whether we will move or not, the barn for the horse is dismantled and gone, the resurfacing and planting of the old barnyard will be done next week. I am not sure I want any more loses. My inclinaton is to stay put and work it through.
