Shoe thrown at Bush!! hilarious!

I completely agree! One should respect whomever holds the office, regardless of personal opinions.

Teddy Roosevelt would disagree, as do I. A rebuttable presumption of respect, yes; but Bush deserves nothing but derision.

Well, actually he deserves a prison term. But derision is the best we can do.

I really can't find this funny. I tried to, but I can't. Regardless of personal opinions, he is the president until Obama takes office.

I disagree with Prism & Friends. I have always detested Bush for his patronizing, condescending mien (not his politics), so I find it refreshing to see him brought down a peg or two, although I do have to admit he handled the incident with a certain level of aplomb.

well, he is smart enough to react sensibly.
If he react with anger he loose.

I'm on the phone with KENNYWORTH -- and he doesn't have his laptop with him this week -- BUT -- he WANTS to weigh in on this topic....

This is what HE SAYS (not me)....

Hats off to the IRAQI media...

Too bad that the American Media won't follow the courageous example of their Iraqi brethren...

UNFORTUNATELY -- it is VERY LIKELY that this Iraqi reporter will NOT survive the night -- and he'll be found in a dumpster on the outskirts of Baghdad...

*he misses his computer more than he THOUGHT he would -- he said to tell you that he'll be back home by Thursday evening*

:):):)

I couldn't give a fuck less if Bush is president or not, that was hilarious. I wish they both would have hit him in his stupid monkey face and broken his nose.

My only regret is that the guy didn't have exploding shoes or something.

But I'll give Dubya something, he took it well, if anything.

As funny as it was, I was surprised at how slow the security services were to stop him.

I just saw it on the news and this was my thought as well. The man threw 2 shoes at him before he was stopped.

The reporters had all been pre-screened, or they wouldn't have been able to be in the same room with Dubya in the first place. So they knew none of them had deadly weapons, and no one was expecting a journalist to behave that way.

Sadly, I think KennyWorth may have the right of it.

Hmm....

A heel for a heel, as it were....

He's been ducking for eight years now, glad he's perfected it.

The use of shoes in that manner in Muslim countries has a serious symbolic significance.

That is all.

:D

Yeah, that would be the point. Throwing, say, his notebook at Dubya would have made no point at all. I suppose he could have just held up his soles at Dubya, but then they would have hustled him out before a camera even caught it.

I dont know about you guys, but I know I could not dodge shoes like that, no doubt I would have got hit with both shoes. He has some crazy fast reflexs

When the dude throws the second shoe a sercet service agent is holding on to the guys belt area in the back trying to pull him down it looks. And on some other videos it looks as throught a few agents try to get him to leave through the door on the rear side. Its kinda cool that bush didnt just for the door, he was standing up for himself, wasnt backing down. He handled it cool, he was able to say everything he needed and said it better then some of his other speeches that he prepared for.

In Thailand, the feet are regarded by Buddhists as the dirtiest part of the body, and by extension, so are shoes. To take off and shake a shoe at someone is regarded as the second worst insult you can give a person. To throw a shoe at someone is regarded as the ultimate in insults. People using this from of insult better be prepared for the person insulted to save face.

As in Buddhist countries, in many Muslim countries, the practice of shoe pointing or throwing is also regarded as the worst of insults. As Noelie said, "The use of shoes in that manner in Muslim countries has a serious symbolic significance." BTW have you ever wondered why Muslims leave their shoes at the door of the mosque and why they must wash their feet (amongst other parts of the body) before entering the mosque?

The reporter offered the ultimate of insults.

You ask, "but a shoe?" Yes, some of us do understand.

I guess there are a few other Iraquis who would like to throw a shoe or two at Bush as well.

Wow, throwing shoes at the President of the United States. Those men in Iraq sure do have cojones. I just wonder why they never threw their shoes at Saddam... Hmm, guess maybe he wasn't such a bad guy after all. It was all just another lie Bush told. :D

Maybe the guy was a plant so that Bush could show off his dodging skills and "generosity." Wouldn't put it past Bush's handlers to set up something like that.

Too bad he didn't get a nice big heel print on his forehead.

By the way, the respect given the POTUS is contingent on the POTUS showing respect for his office, for his oath, and for the American people. Dubya has done none of these. He is disrespectful, an oathbreaker, and an enemy of the American people.
