It's a personal decision, I wouldn't want anyone to "Out" me. Celebs are people too, lol...they deserve privacy.

I'm pretty amazed that in this whole thread, most people chose the individualistic route(privacy, individual rights, choice...."it wouldn't help anyone, or the world"....so it is up to themselves)...
We are hated, oppressed, killed, and discriminated against as a group...GLTB...why wouldn't having alot of people, most of us, be proud and fearless? what's wrong with nudging people to tell the world about who they are?
Idealistic ,sure, but we have had a pro gay movement for awhile now, and it has helped....why not expand and carry on, with heads held high?
oh, falconfan,..... I remember you from this site discussing the same question a few years ago....
I'm sorry your coming out was so hard for you....I think I understand....it took 27 very painful years to be "free" (and 10 years of therapy...all that Catholic mess, and being told I was a sinner, and being hated and being beaten up).....
I'd be respectful of you personally, if I knew you....an acquaintance, a bud, a friend....you know... work it all thru....
but for the American and the World stage, and the heavy consequences....well....no...
I remember when my gang of friends were very young in the party years of San francisco.....amazing....we were popular and we hung with a (sadly late) Hollywood manager named Bob Lamont (sp)....he was a dog.....I never accepted those pair of pants....
what I recall was that he was John Travolta's manager...he told that young homo star to hide his personal life, move into the Hills, keep it all private, and....you'd be a star...good advice...it worked.....if that's what you want....
I never wanted ,ever, to lie ,generally, or about myself....it's a good idea.....it has carried me through some very hard, very sad decades...
head held high, ya' know....
herewego said:There's no such thing as "outing". People discuss other people's lives all the time, whether they are gay or straight. Why on Earth should be continue not discussing them while continuing to discussing the lives of straight celebrities? Are you saying that if we discuss so and so dating a person of the same gender publicly, we're outing them? Whether the person wants to come out publicly and confirm it, is their business, but there is nothing different between talking about a person who's dating a person of the same sex or the opposite sex. If that is a problem, then we should be discussing whether we should be talking about anyone's personal life. That's not going to happen, so we can continue to talk.
I understand why up and comers don't come out of the closet early on in their careers. However, those who are established, should definitely come out. It's a moral obligation. Gay people need to be visible as to confirm their existence. It is important for the progression of society. I'm looking at you, Jodie Foster!
Politicians who vote for a bash gay people, should be publicly outed, with all media attention on them. CALL A PRESS CONFERENCE! OUT THE BASTARDS!![]()

Celebrities have a right to privacy? Please. They became public figures knowing full well that their private lives would come under close scrutiny. It's part of the price you pay for being rich beautiful and famous. People are going to talk talk talk talk talk in any event and there's nothing anyone can (or will) do to stop it. The only thing you can do as an individual is choose to ignore it.
In the end, it's safer to assume nothing said about any celebrity is completely true. How sad, though, that a group of PROFESSIONAL LIARS called the publicity machine chooses to have us believe that the most talented, beautiful and famous people in the world can only be heterosexual.
here's my list for 2008 of who was,and who is......Tab Hunter,Johnie Mathais, Merv Griffin, Jerry Herman (thank you ),Arthur Laurents,Stewart Granger (bi), Burt Lanchaster (bi), Danny Kaye (bi) S. Laurence Olivier (bi), Rock Hudson....Michael Feinstein (duh)
now, from my knowledge.....Esi Morales, Nicholas Gonsales, Keanu Reeves, Jodie Foster,Tom>Oprah,Rosie,Ellen....Colin(interested)....Doug Sills (most leading men on Broadway.)......and Laughlin (sp)Murdoch.....Anderson Cooper (call me), George Clooney...nuff said....Johnie , and Leo and Spiderman....I think I have the hots for them all.....namesI forgot...the star of THE PRETENDER, the star of THE FLASH.....I still think Billy Campbell.....and....bi ,I'd Say Daniel Craig of 007......
so , it's a celebrity chess game ( until you actually sleep with them ) I'm out of the circuit, but I wish you all luck >>>>)
Hollywood tought America to lie properly, and to believe the lies, and how to spin (Washington learned the lessons very well).....the really evil players are the spin doctors, publicists, and media pundits, who all avoid the truth as much as possible.....there is ALOT at stake here!!!! if you cooperate you get really good material possesions, fame, and in the case of the celebrity, maybe an Oscar (isn't that right Ms. Kidman?).....
alot less lies and liars, will really help the world to see things for what they are, and hopefully make things better....nice hopes for 2008
