I'm gonna cut this short, I had a feeling discussing materialism with americans wouldn't lead anywhere.

Can someone please tell me how this thread transformed itself from a George W. Bush t-shirt question into a discussion about materialistic Amish Québecois?

Of course, we lost everything in that tornado, so now it's just me 'n' my BF in donated tee shirts (thank God Americans aren't materialistic and will help others who are down on their luck).
Okay, now you're getting stereotypical. And I'm gonna quote you, sweets...
"I'm starting to get a bit sick of all the materialistic threads, it does nothing to disprove certain stereotypes IMO."
Isn't that what YOU are doing? Setting a stereotype by painting all "Americans" with the same brush?

Oh, not to worry. Your discussion may well have rescued this thread from the hellish depths of Fun & Games!
Quote where I say all americans are materialistic. I simply said discussing this with americans (the ones here, to be specific) would lead nowhere. And look where we are. This is RL's thread, so if we must carry this on, start a new thread and I'll be happy to go to it.

This thread has been so thoroughly and completely hijacked that I don't have the slightest clue what we were originally talking about. And RL, pardon the hijack, but I couldn't resist.

You said it, not me. The real meaning behind my statement is that there is no use in discussing materialism with people from the same country that gave the world Walmart.Exactly. And you're being stereotypical by saying that. You're basically saying there's no point in discussing anything intelligent with an American.
I didn't mention race, the other guy did. And in this case, I think nationality has something to do with it. Some countries rely on natural resources or manufacturing for their economy, but places like Canada and US rely a lot more on consumer culture. What does one's nationality have to do with the ability to discuss a certain subject? I certainly don't take nationality or race or anything else into consideration when discussing a topic with someone.
I'm not trying to pick a fight with you either, but so long as you give me something to respond to, here I am.I'm not trying to pick a "fight" with you, I'm just giving my opinion to what you said. And that's all.
And RL, pardon the hijack, but I couldn't resist.

OMG, sweets, I think we should just discontinue this right now, lol. That's another blanket statement that truthfully doesn't make much sense. You're stereotyping again.
so I'm gonna bail this now and leave you be.
That is freaking hilarious.![]()

Buy the shirt RL! If it wears out, use it as a rag eventually. Or, you could wipe with George Bush's face and throw it out!
I've always wondered what he'd look like with shit on his face....
another? I thought it was the same. Isn't it typical to say "stereotype!" and duck out of a debate without really addressing any points...
