Attention Signs you're getting old.

When I try to light the stove with my toothbrush and clean my teeth with the gaslighter, it's time to admit that my best days are behind me.

^I can't choose just ten! This was when country music was good, and I'd want both Janie Fricke and Donna Fargo for sure.

But wait - there is more! Read it again - you don't have to choose just 10 you can get THIRTEEN records or tapes for just $1.00!

And you only have to buy a few recordings at the regular extortion rates prices later to fulfill your obligation!

You go to the library catalog to place a hold on something. And you find that you had already put a hold on that item and forgotten about doing so!

I guess, you get more nostalgic about the things you liked when growing up.

And you may know you are old if you might say we didn't need remote controls for TV channel because back in the old days TV was so much better that one didn't need to constantly channel surf!

The BBC television output in the fifties would not get many viewers excited today.
Opera, cricket, poetry, church services, and hour after hour of the test card, but at least there were never any adverts.

Being fair, there was probably being plenty of bad TV from day 1. I don't remember the show, but my father mentioned one from the "good old days" that he suggested was one of the worst shows he ever saw.

But it's easy to be nostalgic for a different era because of sentiment or knowing of the best shows of past eras.

I was once into listening to old time radio shows on cassette tape. (Another sign I'm getting old: I remember cassette tape. ) Jack Benny did a routine of asking people what comedies they listened to. My favorite part was when one character basically said: when Comedian A comes on, my wife leaves the room. When Comedian B comes on, I leave the room. And when Benny comes on, the radio leaves the room.

at least there were never any adverts.
A big selling point!

I don't have actual TV--all my viewing is via DVDs, most of which I get from the library at their every day low price of $0. There are many reasons I prefer this approach, including no ads. (At least, once one gets past those fucking "coming to DVD soon!" ads--which, sometimes, you can't easily skip past.)
