You realize that some of the butchered people were also Muslim, right?

I heard there were about 300 Mulsims that died in the towers..

d if this is such sacred ground, why not buy it up and turn it into a park or something?.

Or even better, how about turning the ACTUAL SITE of the old Trade Centers into a memorial instead of building another skyscraper? Seems the ''hallowed ground ''argument gets kicked right to the curb if it will mean they can't develop the old WTC site..Nah, lets harrass some Muslims a couple of blocks away..What a bunch of bigoted horseshit..

If it's so sacred why did the GOP and some dems oppose providing for the first responders, many of whose lives are now in ruins because of effects from their service on the scene at 911?.

That's because they rather whore out the events of 9-11 for political gain than actually help the people who were there, who helped clean up the mess and recover bodies..

Sick people are a bummer and they cost a lot of money.Better to just act solemn and ''thank them for their service'' ,but when it comes to actually helping them, they wont do that.Republicans don't believe in ''entitlements'' unless it's for the uber wealthy or the corporate pigs who own them..

It seems the sacred status of the area is limited to using it for to fundraise from bigots.

Of course. The Muslims are the ''new gay'' in the GOP.They will wedge the ''muslim agenda'' right next to the ''gay agenda'' and ''pro'' abortion, blame America first liberals who are really Muslim/terrorist coddling socialists bent on delivering our country bound hand and foot to our enemies..Whoever they are this week..

Man, I cant stand these fucking right wingers..

When I was here before I always thought Alfie was a bit too extreme with his "ship them to North Korea" schtick. Alfie and I are friends, and I stay in touch with him off these boards, but I realized on my return to the USA that he was absolutely correct. These jackwagens DO NEED to be air dropped into North Korea and deported!

Being an atheist, I would say building a mosque or other kinds of place of worship on another continent would still be a little too near the WTC site.

But my line of thought is dangerous. Religious freedom and whatnot. Build whatever, really. Mosque, a cheap strip joint, a crackhouse, Absolut's house (hmm I think may have repeated "strip joint" and "crackhouse" by mentioning his house) -- whatever really. It's not like the WTC is a holy scared Christian site. Right?

In fairness, there has been the building of 'ground zeros' near Iraqi mosques since March 2003.

No, Alfie was right on target with these worthless motherfuckers.Me,I'm all for machine gunning these maggots.I'm not even kidding Dude.I hate them. I've had a lifetime of their shit.I'm so tired of them and their divisive, smarmy, always need someone to bully politics..

They are gonna keep pushing and fucking with people and ,one day, there is going to be a violent backlash against them. It can't come soon enough for me..

Tell John, Kenny said hi and I hope he's doing well.He should come back here to brutalize these republican operatives that are on this board..

Isn't that a little extreme?

Why is that when it comes to religious freedom we are happy to defend it and see no issue to have a mosque built near the WTC site but we don't share the same understanding when it comes to political freedom?

As much as we hate their opinions, aren't right wingers still allow to have one? As much as I despise the religion (and all religions), Muslims still have the right to practice their religion.

"Killing" and "deporting" those who think differently (no matter how wrong it is) is very hypocritical.

Kenny, Moltenrock, I respect you guys and I love it when you post. This post to you two is by no means an attack. It just that your posts scared me a little.

Do you people remember a few random vigilante attacks on guys wearing turbans after september 11?

I do.

It was particularly stupid because the stupid fuckers "defending america" and "showing them that america won't take this lying down" were attacking men who follow the Sikh religion, people who had never had anything to do with Islam in their lives, never mind terrorism.

But I suppose they were just being insensitive because they were wearing turbans "too soon." Or maybe they were walking "too close" to lower manhattan.

This is the same kind of nonsense.

"Hot Buttons" anyone? YO! Gitcher "Hot Buttons" ri-cheer!! Elections coming up? You need "Hot Buttons"! Want some attention? Gotta have "Hot Buttons"! Ratings dropping? Whip out a "Hot Button"! YO! "Hot Buttons" anyone? ...

In these days of "Instant 'News' ", Pop-ups, Intrusion Ads, Web Alerts, Tweets, etc., etc., that some of us even carry with us on our "Smart" phones, we are being constantly bombarded, with rants and raves. Accordingly, "America's Attention Span" is getting even shorter! And, in an effort to grab that smidge of Attention, claims are becoming even more outrageous, spun, and twisted! And, in response, we are becoming much more of a "Knee Jerk" society! (Does Shirley Sherrod ring a bell?)

We ALL need to relax, take a step back, and take a moment to THINK!

I see nothing "wrong" with this mosque. In fact, I think it will prove to be a "Good Thing"!

Keep smilin'!!(*8*)
Chaz ;)

I can't believe what the fuck is going on in this country.

Well, maybe I should. This is the country that rejects evolution, doesn't believe in letting gay people have full rights, and won't vote for an atheist for Federal office. It should come as no surprise that people have managed to confound an issue related to the simple free pursuit of religion.

I keep hearing this word "should" in discussions of this issue. "Sure, they have the right to build the mosque, but *should* they?"

Who gives a flying fuck? There's no "should" to it. Do they have the financial and civic (permits and such) means? Is it within their constitutional right to free practice of religion? Yes to both? Okay, then it's a dead issue.

Enough of this "too close to ground zero" and "too soon" nonsense. They're attempting to build in downtown Manhattan. It's a hotbed of activity in America. They want a piece of the pie. It's not practical to ask them to relocate, as this may be for many purposes an ideal location for what they're doing.

Islam can fuck off for all I care. I'm a militant atheist, and the idea of the destruction of all world religions gives me great satisfaction. I'd gladly spit on the grave of most of the awful Islamic clerics in the Middle East who have committed atrocities in the name of their religion.

But none of that matters. Muslims are no more restricted from practicing their ghastly religion in this country than Christians, nor should they be until awful shitbags like Pat Robertson are tried for treason.

Shame on the people who have stirred up this worthless discussion, and shame on the American people for yet again pissing on the very ideas codified in our constitution by the founding fathers of this nation.

That was really good Razor..Real good.

Sorry Ram, but we're not dealing with normal people here. Not at all.Since Reagan, and especially since 1994 the GOP has been cheerleading the destruction of our country.

Starting with Newt Gingrich's ''list of words'' http://www.skilluminati.com/research/entry/newt_gingrich_on_using_language_for_social_control/)to use when describing the opposition, right through to today, with them calling anyone to the left of Attilla the Hun a ''communist''..

These people are dangerous and their movement is cultivating violence in our country.Be it blowing up abortion clinics, murdering doctors,or speaking on tongues on a street corner babbling imprecatory prayer to defeat civil rights.

[ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=boUfcURApxY[/ame]

Right through to stoking the fires of racial tension by saying the president ''hates white people'' and isn't a citizen of this country.Or how about the ''fight them over there so we don't have to fight the muslims over here'' analogy,to describe the failed war on terrror? But while ''they'' are here, lets treat them like shit and deny them the rights that are a cornerstone of our country and it's freedoms.

They wont stop until the President is badly hurt or killed.Everyday Ram,these people get on tv,radio or are in the newspaper, desperately appealing to that one crazy motherfucker who will take a shot at the President or other key leaders in our government.Of course they will condemn any attack WHEN it does happen. What they wont do,is acknowledge their role in the lead up to violence..

I take nothing back Ram.I see what they are doing and they make me sick.Sure, not all of the republicans are bad.But taken together, a religious freak here, the teabaggers there, add in the bigots, the liars in right wing dominated media, and the thieves who are funneling all our money into the war industry and, what you have is a very, very dangerous movement when you're done.

Like I said, they are provoking violence and I hope they get back it in spades.Make them bleed.Their movement is dangerous,it's anti freedom and it's not far removed from the Taliban.I don't wanna live in a corrupt, third world society based on Biblical Law..That's where these scumbags are dragging this country. That's why I hope that, they, and their movement is absolutely destroyed with no chance of ever rising again.I see no hypocrisy in wishing them crushed.

I have grown so tired of the talking heads on the conservative news channels blasting Obama and trying to make this an issue (which tells me they have no ideas for solving problems that REALLY matter in this country).

The same ones who are taking aim at the president would scream bloody murder if a Christian Church were denied the right to build somewhere. Personally, I feel Christians could do a better job of showing responsibility by sharing churches (since most are used an hour or so one day a week). The money that would be saved could be put to the uses that Jesus actually commanded: the poor, the lonely, the sick, the imprisoned, the widowed, those needing health care, HIV/AIDS patients, etc.

What these talking heads fail to realize is the Bill of Rights was not designed to protect the "majority" rights; it was to protect the "minority" from the majority. Muslims may be a minority but they have the same rights as their "Christian" counterparts and, as such, are protected and free to practice their faith.

I watched a "Christian" pastor last night on the FAUX-News channel as he debated a Muslim leader. He said he didn't believe in the Muslim's God, etc. He should probably go back and have a refresher on where all Christians came from -- from the Jewish faith practiced by Jesus which is an Abrahmic based belief. From that same base come the Muslim traditions which also hold a special place for Jesus and Mary.

I wonder what would happen if a Wiccan group wanted to build something on the WTC site? I am sure there were Jews, Muslims, atheist, Buddhist, and others besides Christians who died on September 11.

I don't know if you've ever had any sort of experience in civic planning, corporate and community sustainability, or zoning laws, but the SUITABILITY of placing what, where is ALWAYS a relevant issue when it comes to building things.

I doubt anyone is questioning the legality or constitutionality of whether they can build on, in, on top, near, or underneath the Ground Zero site. It's a question of suitability and sensitivity.

We don't generally erect gay bathhouses next to kindergarten playgrounds or abortion clinics next to churches for the reasons I described above (suitability and sensitivity). This is no different.

Obama's failure in leadership is for not stating forthrightly: It's their right, but it's still a wrong-headed strategic decision to place a mosque so close to that site and so soon.

70% of Americans agree with me.
